  • This article deals with the multiple alternative proposal of Venture Business policy. when Decision makers meet a very complex and important business to take a good choice. It might not be easy that we make a decision and accept the decision as an exact result of analysis at a complication and uncertain situation. This is the reason why the original research use Statistical Survey method and Visual Decision Making Process(VDMP) to improve decision analysis method. Therefore, Our research suggests that the VDMP utilized in the strategic decision making situation as a group decision adding tool, can be applied in the development of a process vision and implementation plan. as a result, researcher describe step by step the process of VDMP

  • As knowledge has been recognized as a new resource in gaining organizational competitiveness, Knowledge Management (KM) is suggested as a method to manage and apply knowledge for business management. KM research, however, has focused on identifying, storing, and distributing the transaction-related knowledge in an organization. There has been little research on applying the knowledge to decision-making or strategy development that is the main task of business management. The application of knowledge to decision making has higher impact on organizational performance rather than just the knowledge management for process transaction. In this research, we suggest System Dynamics (SD) for the knowledge-based decision-making. Based on the modeling method of SD, we can translate partial and implicit knowledge resident in individual's mental model into organized explicit knowledge. The simulation test of the organized knowledge model enables decision-makers to understand the structure of the target problem and its behavior mechanism, which facilitates effective decision-making. We will compare the proposed method and other KM methods and discuss this research based on the application case to a real telecommunication company.

  • The main objective of this research is to identify the evaluation criteria of the local governments' projects for the fisheries industry development (LGPFID) and to develop the evaluation software prototype applicable to LGPFID. This research does not try to develop the whole evaluation processes and programs for LGPFID, but just to outline the approach to managing LGPFID. The evaluation processes and programs developed in this study is based on the group decision support systems(GDSS), which is a collaborative, system-oriented, and objective system useful in evaluating LGPFID. Specifically the goals of the programs are to : (1) enhance the quality of evaluation process for LGPFID; (2) provide the local government decision makers' and interest groups' access to comprehensive evaluation information; (3) support private-public collaboration in government's decision making. We used analytic hierarchy process model as a group decision making model and programmed the application software prototype with Visual Basic language.

  • In recognizing knowledge as a new resource in gaining organizational competitiveness, knowledge management suggests a method in managing and applying knowledge for improving organizational performance. Much knowledge management research has focused on identifying, storing, and disseminating process related knowledge in an organized manner. Applying knowledge to decision making has a significant impact on organizational performance than solely processing transactions for knowledge management. In this research, we suggest a method of knowledge-based decision-making using system dynamics, with an emphasis to strategic problems. The proposed method transforms individual mental models into explicit knowledge by translating partial and implicit knowledge into an integrated knowledge model. The scenario-based test of the organized knowledge model enables decision-makers to understand the structure of the target problem and identify its basic cause, which facilitates effective decision-making. This method facilitates the linkage between knowledge management initiatives and achieving strategic goals and objectives of an organization.

  • This paper discusses a GIS based decision support system that provides functions of prospect screening and evaluation in both technical aspects (Volume, structure, trap, reservoir and charge, etc.) and economic aspects (Net present value, Profit / investment Ratio, etc.). The decision support system has been tested in a virtual offshore exploration prospect to facilitate and improve the decision making process. The study represents a test bed for decision makers at all levels to establish prospect screening and evaluation guidelines that may be applicable to other related prospect investment issues.

  • Ubiquitous computing requires timely supply of contextual information in order to upgrade decision quality. In this sense, this study is aimed at proposing a multi-dynamic decision support system for highly ill-structured problems. Especially, it is very important for decision makers in the ubiquitous computing to coordinate conflicts among local goals and global goal harmoniously. The proposed Multi-Dynamic Decision Support System (MDDSS) is basically composed of both central structure and distributed structure, in which central structure supports multi objects decision making and distributed structure supports individual decision making. Its hybrid architecture consists of decision processor, multi-agent controller and intelligent knowledge management processor. Decision processor provides decision support using contexts which come from individual agents. Multi-agent controller coordinates tension among multi agents to resolve conflicts among them. Meanwhile, intelligent knowledge management processor manages knowledge to support decision making such as rules, knowledge, cases and so on. To prove the validity of the proposed MDDSS, we applied it to an u-fulfillment problem system in which many kinds of decision makers exist trying to satisfy their own objectives, and timely adjustment of action strategy is required. Therefore, the u-fulfillment problem is a highly ill-structured problem. We proved its effectiveness with the aid of multi-agent simulation comprising 60 customers and 10 vehicles under three experimental modes.

  • Decision Science or Decision Analysis can be described as a scientific methodolog to provide suitable quantitative information for the decision maker to be able to selected the best feasible alternative on the given decision environment and thus we can say that where there are decision problems, there needs the decision analysis to be applied to them. International shipping is generally said to be the cheapest and most widely used means of transport in international trade and each of the hundreds of seaport. So far as the decision makings in the shipping and port transportation are concerned, of real importance is to understand what the decision problems in each of shipping and port transportation really are and to recognize the meaning of relevance between shipping and seaport in the outworn phrase, that is to say, "The chain is as strong as its weakest link." This paper is intended to present a literature survey on the applied decision analysis to shipping and port transportation problems which have actually been involved in the wide variety of decision environment. At first, the author suggests four divisional framework such as decision analysis in each field of Shipping Economics, Management and Operations of Shipping, Port Economics, and Port Operation and Management, according to the main concern of the decision environment, and then the literature surveys on those four major divisions are described including the problems and solution approaches in each case. The author concludes the paper with the comment on the need of joint research around this area by citing the phrase of "a process of updating the decision makers' intuitions."s' intuitions."quot;

  • The usability of the Internet including WWW (World Wide Web) is dramatically growing in current management environment. These allow decision makers to enhance the productivity of decision making by referring valuable information in the remote sites. This paper presents how WWW can be applied to build distributed and collaborative DSS. Especially, a framework of Internet-based DSS is delineated, and then an idea of representing and managing models in the Internet-based DSS is suggested.

  • This study investigates how discrete choice analysis can be applied to health care operations. Discrete choice analysis helps to understand the complex decision-making process of purchasing expensive medical equipments by identifying relative weights that decision makers impose on each attribute through simple virtual choice experiments. We also verified the usefulness of applying discrete choice analysis to the purchase of medical equipments with empirical evidence.

  • The purpose of this study is to present models for evaluation and selection of DataBase Management Systems(DBMS) suppliers. The major concern of management is that most decision problems have multiple, usually conflicting, criteria. The fuzzified multiple-objective programming models are given to accomodate the aspiration level and satisfaction level of decision makers. The proposed models are classified into two types, that is, pre-emptive priority and interpolated non-membership function model. Numerical examples illustrating each type of model are presented and the implications of these models are discussed.
