Although it is rapidly increasing the number of day-care centers in Korea, the quality of food and nutrition services is not improved sufficiently. The purpose of this study was to investigate the nutrition and health status of children in day-care center. Menus for lunch of 253 centers were collected and the content of nutrients was analyzed. Nutrient intakes from lunch and snacks of 90 children were investigated using weighing method and those from breakfast and dinner by 24-hour recall method surrogated from their mothers. Anthropometric indices of height, weight, skinfold thickness, the ratio of fat were measured. The lunch menus for children contained $437.0{\pm}138.9\;Kcal$, $17.6{\pm}6.7gr$ protein, $153.9{\pm}87.7mg\;Ca$, $3.63{\pm}1.6mg\;Fe$, $164.5{\pm}158.2RE\;Vit\;A$. and $4.46{\pm}3.04mg\;Vit\;B_1$. Energy, Ca and Fe supplied were below one third of RDAs. Mean daily calorie intake of children aged 3 years was $1303.0{\pm}474.0Kcal/day$, $1322.3{\pm}442.4Kcal$ in aged four, $1307.0{\pm}545.9Kcal$ in aged five and $1497.1{\pm}93.5kcal$ in six year of age. Intake of iron, vitamin A and vitamin $B_1$ were below RDAs.

A survey of 256 employees at 28 Seoul-type Day Care Centers were conducted on job stress, job satisfaction, and ego-resiliency, and 138 nursing care workers were analyzed. The data analysis was conducted using SPSS PROCESS Macro, which was presented by SPSS 25.0 and Hayes. The results of the study are as follows. First, nursing care workers had higher job stress and lower job satisfaction compared to other job groups. Second, job stress identified the negative effect job satisfaction. Third, ego-resiliency confirmed positive moderating effect between job stress and job satisfaction.
The purpose of this study was to examine the influential factors on parenting guilt of mothers who use a day-care center. To achieve these research goals, the present study 1) analysed the differences in the mother's parenting guilt as the socio-demographic variables of the mother and child, and 2) examined the relative effect size of influences on the mother's parenting guilt with their parenting efficacy, satisfaction on the day-care center, emotional and informational support from teachers, and mother's active interaction with day-care teachers. The participants of the study were 350 mothers whose infants and toddlers were attending day-care centers in Gwangju and Jeollanamdo. The results of this study are as follows. First, the mothers with infants who were younger than 3 years old reported more parenting guilt than the mothers with toddlers. Second, the mothers whose children were the first child reported more parenting guilt than the mothers with children who were the second or the third child. Third, the emotional support from the day-care teacher was the most influential factor on the mother's parenting guilt. This study suggests that the mutual cooperation between mother and day-care teacher are very important to reduce the mother's parenting guilt.
Investigation of foodservices was carried out in 7 different day care centers in Gyeongnam area and no trition survey of their 481 children were undertaken between October 5 and November 3, 1994. The results were summarized as follows: Conditions of most equipments and facilities used in the kitchen were very defective especially in dishwashing and sterilizing step. Number of cooks and assistant cooks in foodservices was 1 or 2. Purchasing of foods and planning of menu were mainly done by the manager or the secretary. Menu was cycled weekly. None of the day care centers has empolyed a dietitian. Mean values of height and weight of children showed slightly over the standard of Korean children. Mean intakes of energy and all the nutrients from the lunch, which was served by day care centers, were below 30% of the Korean RDAs. Mean value of protein, thiamine and niacin were above 25% of the RDAs. Intakes of Ca, Fe and Riboflavin were lower than the ones of other nutrients. It is suggested that dietitians should be empolyed to take care of meal services and nutrition education for the children.

Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the status of health management and to evaluate the need for health professionals in day care centers in the South Korea. Method: Data were obtained from 360 child care providers in 16 provinces from May to August, 2007. Data was analyzed using SPSS WIN 14.0. Results: Safety education (traffic. 83.8% general safety. 71.6%) was provided more often than the other topic of education. All health related education was provided by child care providers. When minor health problems occurred, the most common management strategy was to send the child home (36.1%). During emergency conditions, majority of child care providers preferred taking the children to medical centers without giving any emergency care and 19.4% reported sending the child home without any immediate care. Child care providers recognized the need for health care professionals. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest the need for services of health professionals in day care centers to satisfy the needs and expectations for health management in these centers. As health professionals, public health nurses or pediatric nurse practitioners may play an important role in health management of children in day care centers.
Objectives : This study characterized the extent to which youth depressive symptoms, parental alcohol problems, and parental drinking account for differences in alcohol-related problems among a large sample of adolescent females. Methods : The stratified sample consists of 2077 adolescent females from twelve female-only high schools located in a large metropolitan city in the Republic of Korea. Students completed a questionnaire about alcohol use and alcohol problems, their parents' alcohol problems, and a number of risk and protective factors. Data were analyzed using tobit regression analyses to better characterize the associations among variables. Results : Almost two-thirds of students who consume alcohol had experienced at least one to two alcohol-related problems in their lives and 54.6% reported at least one current symptom of depression, with nearly one-third reporting two depressive symptoms. Two-thirds of the students indicated that at least one parent had an alcohol-related problem, and that approximately 29% had experienced several problems. Results of tobit regression analyses indicate that youth alcohol-related problems are positively associated with depressive symptoms (p<0.01) and parent drinking problems (p<0.05). Parental drinking is no longer significant when the variable parental attention is added to the model. Decomposition of the tobit parameters shows that for every unit of increase in depressive symptoms and in parent drinking problems, the probability of a youth experiencing alcohol problems increases by 6% and 1%, respectively. For every unit of increase in parental attention, the probability of youth experiencing drinking problems decreases by 5%. Conclusions : This study presents evidence that alcohol-related problems and depressive symptoms are highly prevalent among adolescent females. Although a comprehensive public health approach is needed to address drinking and mental health problems, different interventions are needed to target factors associated with initiation of alcohol problems and those associated with increased alcohol problems among those who already began experiencing such problems.

In terms of oral health risk factors, the elderly with no dental caries, periodontal disease and dental pain had more remaining teeth. Conclusions : It is necessary to activate systematic welfare services for the elderly that fit their lifestyle in the light of the health and oral health risk factors of the elderly who use day care centers.
