Effect of Micro Grooves on the Performance of Condensing Heat Transfer of the Micro Grooved Thermosyphons

  • This study concerns the performance of the condensing heat transfer performance of two-phase closed thermosyphons with plain copper tube and tubes having 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 internal micro grooves. Distilled water, methanol, ethanol have been used as the working fluid. The numbers of grooves and operating temperature have been investigated as the experimental parameters. Condensing heat transfer coefficients and heat flux are obtained from experimental data for each case of specific parameter. The experimental results are assessed and compared with existing correlations. The results show that working fluids, numbers of grooves are very important factors for the operation of thermosyphons. The working fluid with high latent heat such as water has a good heat transfer rate compared to methanol and ethanol. The relatively high rate of heat transfer is achieved when the thermosyphon with internal micro grooves is used compared to that with plain tube. Condensing heat transfer coefficient of grooved thermosyphon is 1.5∼2 times higher in methanol and 1.3∼l.5 times higher in ethanol compared to plain tube. The best condensation heat transfer performance is obtained for 60 grooves, and the maximum value of this case is 2.5 times higher than that of the plain tube.

  • In this study, single-phase heat transfer experiments were conducted with Oblong Shell and Plate heat exchanger using water. An experimental water loop has been developed to measure the single-phase heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop in a vertical Oblong Shell and Plate heat exchanger. Downflow of hot water in one channel receives heat from the cold water upflow of water in the other channel. Similar to the case of a plate heat exchanger, even at a very low Reynolds number, the flow in the Oblong Shell and Plate heat exchanger remains turbulent. The present data show that the heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop increase with the Reynolds number. Based on the present data, empirical correlations of the heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop in terms of Nusselt number and friction factor were proposed. Also, performance prediction analyses for Oblong Shell and Plate heat exchanger were executed and compared with experiments. $\varepsilon$-NTU method was used in this prediction program. Independent variables are flow rates and inlet temperatures. Compared with experimental data, the accuracy of the program is within the error bounds of $\pm$5% in the heat transfer rate.

  • In this study, single-phase heat transfer experiments were conducted with oil cooler with offset strip fin using water. An experimental water loop has been developed to measure the single-phase heat transfer coefficient in a vertical oil cooler. Downflow of hot water in one channel receives heal from the cold water upflow of water in the other channel. Similar to the case of a plate heat exchanger, even at a very low Reynolds number, the flow in the on cooler with offset strip fin remains turbulent. The present data show that the heat transfer coefficient increases with the Reynolds number. Based. On the present data, empirical correlation of the heat transfer coefficient was proposed. Also, performance prediction analysis for oil cooler were executed and compared with experiments. ${\varepsilon}-NTU$ method was used in this prediction program.   • In this paper, we proposed the implementation of multiple access serial communications with improved transmission control. For serial communications. RS232 protocol is used and the transmitting data and is merged to form data channel. Multiple host access is configures by using the common data channel and ground channel. 8bit data transfer with variable frame size is transferred by using the 16bit host ID. Packet is composed of HEADER, receiver ID. variable length data frame, TAIL and CRC informations. Multiple hosts are allowed to transfer packet with the other hosts through the common communication channel. Byte-stuffing is used to differentiate the transfer rate of PC is performed.

전이함수모형을 이용한 국민의료비 예측 (Forecast of health expenditure by transfer function model)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic reference data for stabilization scheme of health expenditure through forecasting of health expenditure. The authors analyzed the health expenditure from 1985 to 2000 that had been calculated by Korean institute for health and social affair using transfer function model as ARIMA model with input series. They used GDP as the input series for more precise forecasting. The model of error term was identified ARIMA(2,2,0) and Portmanteau statics of residuals was not significant. Forecasting health expenditure as percent of GDP at 2010 was 6.8%, under assumption of 5% GDP increase rate. Moreover that was 7.4%, under assumption of 3% GDP increase rate and that was 6.4%, under assumption of 7% GDP increase rate.

1.5MHz직렬 ATA 물리층 회로 설계 (Design of 1.5MHz Serial ATA Physical Layer)

  • 본 논문에서는 직렬 ATA 물리층에 대한 설계 및 칩 제작 후 테스트 결과와 성능 평가를 서술하였다. 직렬 ATA 의 물리층은 +/-250㎷ 의 전압 레벨과 1.5㎓ 속도를 지니는 차등 NRZ 직렬 데이터 스트림을 송신 및 수신하는 회로와 1.5㎓ 송신 PLL 회로, 수신된 1.5Gbps 직렬 데이터 스트림에서 데이터 및 송신 클럭을 복원하는 회로와 SERDES 회로 및 OOB 신호 발생 및 검파 회로 등으로 구성하였다. 설계된 직렬 ATA 물리층은 UMC 사의 0.18㎛ 표준 CMOS 공정을 이용하여 칩으로 제작 후 성능을 검증하였다. 특성 검토 결과 대부분 사양을 만족하였고, 데이터 전송 속도 1.5Gbps 사양은 실지 측정치가 1.38Gbps 로 목표 사양에 8% 미달되었다.

Auto Regulated Data Provisioning Scheme with Adaptive Buffer Resilience Control on Federated Clouds

  • On large-scale data analysis platforms deployed on cloud infrastructures over the Internet, the instability of the data transfer time and the dynamics of the processing rate require a more sophisticated data distribution scheme which maximizes parallel efficiency by achieving the balanced load among participated computing elements and by eliminating the idle time of each computing element. In particular, under the constraints that have the real-time and limited data buffer (in-memory storage) are given, it needs more controllable mechanism to prevent both the overflow and the underflow of the finite buffer. In this paper, we propose an auto regulated data provisioning model based on receiver-driven data pull model. On this model, we provide a synchronized data replenishment mechanism that implicitly avoids the data buffer overflow as well as explicitly regulates the data buffer underflow by adequately adjusting the buffer resilience. To estimate the optimal size of buffer resilience, we exploits an adaptive buffer resilience control scheme that minimizes both data buffer space and idle time of the processing elements based on directly measured sample path analysis. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme provides allowable approximation compared to the numerical results. Also, it is suitably efficient to apply for such a dynamic environment that cannot postulate the stochastic characteristic for the data transfer time, the data processing rate, or even an environment where the fluctuation of the both is presented.

성능선도에 의한 다통로 판형열교환기의 간이설계법 (An easy-to-use design procedure for multipass plate heat exchangers based on the performance plots)

  • Based on a set of performance plots relating the design variables to the imposed conditions, an easy-to-use and versatile design procedure for chevron-type multipass plate heat exchangers is developed. In order for the present procedure to cover multipass with unequal passes and non-unity ratio of heat capacity rate, each stream number of transfer unit is adopted as the basic design variable instead of the exchanger number of transfer unit. It is found that there exists a unique relation between the stream and exchanger number of transfer units regardless of the chevron angle and the plate length. In addition, for a given value of the pressure drop the heat transfer area per unit mass flow rate can be expressed in terms of the stream number of transfer unit only. These two relationships in the form of simple plots constitute the framework of design. The sample results in comparison with the available data indicate that the present procedure includes the previous ones as a subset, and that every design method is affected essentially by the selection of specific correlations for the heat transfer coefficient and the friction factor.

복합 건축자재의 물질전달계수를 이용한 실내 오염물질 농도 예측방법 (A prediction of indoor pollutant concentration using method mass transfer coefficient in multi-layered building materials)

  • In order to predict the indoor air pollutant, the VOCs emission rate is used through small chamber in the design process. However, the small chamber method has limitations as the convective mass transfer coefficient, the most important factor when predicting VOCs contamination of indoor air, is different between the small chamber result and the measured data in the actual building. Furthermore, the existing studies which analyzed mass transfer coefficient in the small chamber were directed on the small chambers developed at the time and FLEC(Field and Laboratory Emission Cell), thus, are different from the current small chamber which has been changed with improvements. The purpose of this study is to determine the emission rate of pollutant in multi-layered building materials, and predict the indoor pollutant concentration through the CFD(Computational of Fluid Dynamics) and CRIAQ2 based on the mass transfer coefficient on singled-layered building material by using the current small chamber widely used in Korea. Futhermore, this study used the new convective mass transfer coefficient(hm') which indicates the existing convective mass transfer coefficient(hm) including VOC partition coefficient(k). Also, formaldehyde was selected as target pollutant.
