  • In this paper, we have proposed a novel method using quantization of wavelet coefficients for secret data communication. First, speech signal is partitioned into small time frames and the frames are transformed into frequency domain using a WT(Wavelet Transform). We quantize the wavelet coefficients and embedded secret data into the quantized wavelet coefficients. The destination regard quantization errors of received speech as seceret dat. As most speech watermark techniques have a trade off between noise robustness and speech quality, our method also have. However we solve the problem with a partial quantization and a noise level dependent threshold. In additional, we improve the speech quality with de-noising method using wavelet transform. Since the signal is processed in the wavelet domain, we can easily adapt the de-noising method based on wavelet transform. Simulation results in the various noisy environments show that the proposed method is reliable for secret communication.

  • This paper proposes a new protective relaying algorithm using Neuro-Fuzzy and wavelet transform. To organize advanced nuero-fuzzy algorithm, it is important to select target data reflecting various transformer transient states. These data are made of changing-rates of Dl coefficient and RSM value within half cycle after fault occurrence. Subsequently, advanced neuro-fuzzy algorithm is obtained by converging the target data. As a result of applying the advanced neuro-fuzzy algorithm, discrimination between internal fault and inrush is correctly distinguished within 1/2 after fault occurrence. Accordingly, it is evaluated that the proposed algorithm can effectively protect a transformer by correcting discrimination between winding fault and inrushing state.

  • Therefore the use of Hadamard transform in the image processing requires only the real number operations and results in the computational advantages. Recently, however, certain degradation aspects have been reported. In this paper we propose a WH matrixtwhich retains the main properties of Hadamard matrix. The actual improvement of the image transmission in the inner part of the picture has been demonstrated by the computer simulated image developments. The orthogonal transforms such as Hadamard transform offers a useful facility in the digital signal processing. As the size of the transmission block increases, however, the assignment of bits for each data must increase exponentially. Thus the SNR of the image tends to decline accordingly. As an attempt to increase the SNR, we propose the WH matrix whose elements are made of ${\pm}$1, ${\pm}$2, ${\pm}$3, ${\pm}$4, and the unitform is 8${\times}$8 matrix.

  • On modern computer culture, the high quality data is required in multimedia systems. So, the technology of data compression fur data transmission is necessary now. This paper presents the pipeline architecture for the low and column address generator of 2D DCT/IDCT (Discrete Cosine Transform/Inverse Discrete Cosine Transform. In the proposed architecture, the area of hardware is reduced by using the DA (distributed arithmetic) method and applies the concepts of pipeline to the parallel architecture. As a result the designed pipeline of the low and column address generator for 2D DCT/IDCT architecture is implemented with an efficiency and high speed compared with the non-pipeline architecture.

  • The tapping test has simplicity of procedure for detection of the damage in aircraft structure. However, the result of tapping test depends on the subjective experience of inspector. In this paper, more objective tapping test has proposed. The impact force histories and tapping sounds are used as reference data to evaluate the delamination. The WT(wavelet transform) is used to decompose the test data. From the results, we could know that high frequency components of force and sound are reduced due to delamination in composite laminate. On these results, the tapping force and sound caused by tapping could be used for the reference data to evaluate the delamination in composite structure.

  • A hybrid forecasting scheme based on wavelet decomposition coupled to a support vector machine model is presented for water demand series that exhibit nonlinear behavior. The use of wavelet transform followed by the SVM model of each leading component is explored as a model for water demand data. The proposed forecasting model yields better results than a traditional ARIMA time series forecasting model in terms of self-prediction problem as well as reproducing the properties of the observed water demand data by making use of the advantages of wavelet transform and SVM model. The proposed model can be used to substantially and significantly improve the water demand forecasting and utilized in a real operation.

  • Satellite images that have been obtained periodically and continuously are very effective data to monitor the changes of Earth's surface. Traditionally, the studies on change detection using satellite images have mainly focused on comparison between two results after analyzing two images respectively. However, the interests in researches to catch smooth trends and short duration events from continual multi-temporal images have been increased recently. In this study, we introduce and test an approach based on 3D wavelet transform to analyze the multi-temporal satellite images. 3D wavelet transform can reduce the dimensions of data conserving main trends. Also, it is possible to extract important patterns and to analyze spatial and temporal relations with neighboring pixels using 3D wavelet transform. As a result, 3D wavelet transform is useful to capture the long term trends and short-term events rapidly. In addition, we can expect to get new information through sub-bands of 3D wavelet transform which provide different information by decomposed direction.

  • In this paper, we proposed an effective T&L(Transform & Lighting) Processor architecture for a real time 3D graphics acceleration SoC(System on a Chip) in a mobile system. We designed Floating point arithmetic IPs for a T&L processor. And we verified IPs using a SoC Platform. Designed T&L Processor consists of 24 bit floating point data format and 16 bit fixed point data format, and supports the pipeline keeping the balance between Transform process and Lighting process using a parallel computation of 3D graphics. The delay of pipeline processing only Transform operation is almost same as the delay processing both Transform operation and Lighting operation. Designed T&L Processor is implemented and verified using a SoC Platform. The T&L Processor operates at 80MHz frequency in Xilinx-Virtex4 FPGA. The processing speed is measured at the rate of 20M Vertexes/sec.

  • As a wavelet transform which is presented as a new technique of signal processing field has time and frequency localization capabilities, it's possible for multiresolution analysis as well as easy to analyze various signal. So it is being applied in many fields recently. And when two wavelet base were designed to form Hilbert transform pair, wavelet pair show superior performance than the existing DWT(discrete wavelet transform) in data detection of pulse type. Therefore in this paper, we detected position of impulse noise by using two dyadic wavelet base which is designed by truncated coefficient vector.

  • The partial discharge of Cast-resin Transformer has a difficulty to be analyzed, because it is an abnormal condition signal of which stochastic characteristics varies with time variance. In this study, background noise coming from the outside of the cast-resin transformers through ground wire can be removed and only a discharge signal of which defects are simulated can be obtained, using the wavelet transform method, which is a time-frequency domain analysis technique. As a result, it was confirmed that de-noising using the SWT technique is the best efficient among three methods of the wavelet transform techniques.
