  • The purpose of this study is to research the practical cases of the reflective curriculum design and the improvement of the dance courses as a general education at University. This study deals with the recreation dance program with 40 students participating for 15 weeks. This study is qualitative research to explore the practical meaning and value the process on the basis of the interviews and reports of the students and the class evaluation of the instructors. The results were as follows: First is the experience of 'thinking dance'. Not just a functional movement, but moreover, they could experience the attraction, sensitivity and culture of the dance altogether. Second is the experience of 'communicating dance'. They experienced the sociability from the relationship with new partners, the overcome of the passivity (shyness) and the manner of consideration. The third is the experience of 'creating dance together'. As a member of a group, they could learn the integrity, responsibility and satisfaction in the middle of cooperative task performance. The view from the teacher regarding the class reflective assessment is as followed: The importance of dance instruction is to improve the expressive personality and potentiality of the students. Forcing the students to follow the basic choreography could be exhaustive.

  • The purpose of the study was to critically explore the academic identity of dance education as a paradigm of practice-based education. Dance education is recognized as a school dance since the first curriculum was designed, which was announced by the Ministry of Education in 1955. Although Korea's dance education has 65 years of history, its academic identity as a dance education is not very strong. Traditional dance education was teacher-centered, skills-oriented, and exercise-oriented by following the practice-based paradigm. Recently, an initiative was taken to establish a new paradigm for dance education in schools, communities, and professional fields. This study followed the keyword network analysis and reviewed the main contents of each section of dance education research from a time-series perspective. The first section (1968-1979) is a practice of dance education based on physical education; the second section (1980-1989) is a creative-based movement education for primary education; the third section (1990-1999) is a systematization of dance education courses by class; the fourth section (2000-2009) is a paradigm for cultural and artistic education; the fifth section (2010-2019) consisted of various educational practices and institutions. Based on the research results, efforts are requested to establish an academic identity that can support dance education, interdisciplinary practice, and research.

  • By improving performance of mobile machine(3D engine, 3D accelerator chip set, etc) and developing wireless network technology, a demand for actual contents of users is being increased rapidly. But, there are some difficulties yet for the speedy development of actual contents because of the limitation of development resources that is dependent on each mobile device's different performance. In general, much of the animated character-creation work for mobile environment is still done manually by experienced animator with the method of key frame processing. However, it needs a lot of time and more costs for creating motion. Additionally, it is possible to cause a distortion of motion. In this paper, I solved the difficulties by using a optical motion capture system, it was able to acquire accurate motion data more easily and quickly, and then it was possible to make 3D dance contents efficiently. Also, I showed techniques of key reduction and controlling frame number for using huge amounts of motion capture data in mobile environment which requires less resources. In making 3D dance contents, using an optical motion capture system was verified that it was more efficient to make and use actual-reality contents by creating actual character motion and by decreasing processing time than existing method.

  • In this study, it is recognized that the new social media has a great social impact and influence, and contemporary dance works that attempted to combine dance and media based on 'interview' are able to bring the value of dance art in a unique way. Currently, many art groups and choreographers are gradually awakening to the audience's thoughts by carefully studying new choreography techniques and forms in order to reach the audience effectively. These changes are meaningful and valuable as contents that will lead to diversification according to technological progress, industrialization of the 21st century, development of dance audience, expansion of stage, and enjoyment of dance arts. Therefore, it will be an inquiry study which analyzes through the literature and images of domestic and foreign dance works using interviews as a material, and finally examines what kind of choreography is used as the interview material in dance works and suggests its effectiveness.

  • Based on the qualitative analysis, 4 factors of dance giftedness were operationally defined and test items were initially developed accordingly. The preliminary test data obtained from 206 dancers was analyzed, using item analysis and a series of reliability analyses. In order to dancer the construct validity, four exploratory factor analyses were conducted for 54 items, resulting in 20 items of 4 factors; physique, dance attitude Expressiveness and creativity, movement ability. A confirmatory factor analysis conducted for 292 dancers to test the goodness-of-fit of 4 factor model revealed a satisfactory level of $x^2$, Q, root mean square residual(RMR), goodness of fit index(GFI), Tucker-Lewis index(TLI), comparative fit index(CFI), root mean square error of approximation(RMSEA). The concurrent and cross validity indices proved the validity of 20 items of 4 factors.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of line dance programme on the balance ability during walking to reveal the exercise intervention for fall prevention. A 12-week line dance programme was applied to 18 elderly females who aged more than 65 years in the community. Balance ability during walking was evaluated by the range of center of pressure(cop), the velocity of cop, and free torque that calculated on the basis of ground reaction force data. The range and velocity of cop in the anterio-posterior were significantly reduced after performing(p<.01, p<.05, respectively), but change in those of cop in the medio-lateral and free torque were not found. It was demonstrates that 12-week line dance programme allows more effective in anterio-posterior stability of walking. It was suggested that the effect of fall prevention exercise should be studied more associate with fall frequency as future study.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how the service quality of dance performance halls influences the satisfaction with performance halls and willingness of re-spectating. To perform this study, questionnaires were used and frequent analysis, factor analysis, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis were used to analyze the collected data. Conclusions are as follows; First, the service quality of dance performance halls had an effect on the satisfaction of dance performance halls. Second, the service quality of dance performance halls had an effect on re-spectating. Third, the satisfaction with performance halls influenced the re-spectating. These results show that the higher the service quality becomes the more positive effect appears between the satisfaction of performance halls and re-spectating.

  • This study examined the effects of complex dance program(ballet, contemporary dance, yoga) on the body composition, BDNF, and serotonin of delivery women, by providing this program for 12 weeks to 14 women(within one year delivery: seven woman, 1-3 years after delivery: seven women). In the results of body composition, in the main effects in accordance with period, both groups showed significant decreases of body fat percentage. The fat-free mass was significantly increased in the group of women within one year after childbirth(t=3.821, p=.009). Regarding BDNF and serotonin, there were no interactive effects between groups and periods while the main effects did not show differences between groups and periods(p>.05). In the results of correlation analysis and regression analysis on BDNF, body composition, and serotonin, the BDNF and serotonin showed the positive correlation(p=.025). In the results of simple regression analysis, the explanatory power was 17.9%(r=.424, $r^2=.179$).
