In this paper, we propose an indexing method to support efficient similarity search for sequence databases. We present a new distance measurement called minimum DTW distance to enhance the filtering effects. The minimum DTW distance is to measure the minimum distance between a sequence data and the group of similar sequences. It enables similarity search through hierarchical index structure by filtering sequence databases. Finally, we show the superiority of our method through some experiments.

Dynamic time warp(DTW) needs for interative calculations and the design of PE cell suitable for the operations is very important. Accordingly, this paper aims at the real time recognition design which enables large dictionary hardware realization using DTW algorithm. The DTW PE cell is seperated into three large blocks. "MIN" is the one block for counting accumulated minimum distance, "ADD" block calculates these minimum distances, and "ABS" seeks for the absolute values to the total sum of local distances. We have accomplisehd circuit design and verification for the MIN blocks, and performed MIN layout and DRC(design rule check) using 3um CMOS N-Well rule base.ing 3um CMOS N-Well rule base.

DTW can eliminate gaps between sequences of different lengths and find out the similarity of patterns, but due to the time and space complexity, it requires a high computational cost on large datasets. In this paper, we propose a DDTW algorithm that not only reduces computational costs but also has no error in the results. In addition, the algorithm complexity of DTW and DDTW is compared by measuring the computational time according to the length of the sequence. Simulation results show a noticeable reduction in computational time in DDTW compared to DTW.
In this paper, we propose a range subsequence matching under dynamic time warping (DTW) distance. We exploit Dual Match, which divides data sequences into disjoint windows and the query sequence into sliding windows. However, Dual Match is known to work under Euclidean distance. We argue that Euclidean distance is a fragile distance, and thus, DTW should be supported by Dual Match. For this purpose, we derive a new important theorem showing the correctness of our approach and provide a detailed algorithm using the theorem. Extensive experimental results show that our range subsequence matching performs much better than the sequential scan algorithm.
Time series are comprehensively appeared and developed in many applications, ranging from science and technology to business and entertainrilent. Similarity search under time warping has attracted much interest between the time series in the large sequence databases. DTW (Dynamic Time Warping) is a robust distance measure and is superior to Euclidean distance for time series, allowing similarity matching although one of the sequences can elastic shift along the time axis. Nevertheless, it is more unfortunate that DTW has a quadratic time. Simultaneously the false dismissals are come forth since DTW distance does not satisfy the triangular inequality. In this paper, we propose an efficient range query algorithmbased on a new similarity search method under time warping. When our range query applies for this method, it can remove the significant non-qualify time series as early as possible before computing the accuracy DTW distance. Hence, it speeds up the calculation time and reduces the number of scanning the time series. Guaranteeing no false dismissals, the lower bounding function is advised that consistently underestimate the DTW distance and satisfy the triangular inequality. Through the experimental result, our range query algorithm outperforms the existing others.

Along with the popularity of GPS system and smart cell phone, trajectories of pedestrians or vehicles are recorded at any time. The great amount of works had been carried out in order to discover traffic paradigms or other regular patterns buried in the huge trajectory dataset. The core of the mining algorithm is how to evaluate the similarity, that is, the "distance", between trajectories appropriately, then the mining results will be accordance to the reality. Euclidean distance is commonly used in the lots of existed algorithms to measure the similarity, however, the trend of trajectories is usually ignored during the measurement. In this paper, a novel segment transform distance (STD) algorithm is proposed, in which a rule system of line segment transformation is established. The similarity of two-line segments is quantified by the cost of line segment transformation. Further, an improvement of STD, named ST-DTW, is advanced with the use of the traditional method dynamic time warping algorithm (DTW), accelerating the speed of calculating STD. The experimental results show that the error rate of ST-DTW algorithm is 53.97%, which is lower than that of the LCSS algorithm. Besides, all the weights of factors could be adjusted dynamically, making the algorithm suitable for various kinds of applications.
Recently the convergence of healthcare technology is used for daily life healthcare monitoring. Cardiac arrhythmia is presented by the state of the heart irregularity. Abnormal heart's electrical signal pathway or heart's tissue disorder could be the cause of cardiac arrhythmia. Fatal arrhythmia could put patient's life at risk. Therefore arrhythmia detection is very important. Previous studies on the detection of arrhythmia in various ECG analysis and classification methods had been carried out. In this paper, an ECG signal processing techniques to detect abnormal ECG based on DTW minimum accumulation distance through the template matching for normalized data and variable threshold method for ECG R-peak detection. Signal processing techniques able to determine the occurrence of normal ECG and abnormal ECG. Abnormal ECG detection algorithm using DTW minimum accumulation distance method is performed using MITBIH database for performance evaluation. Experiment result shows the average percentage accuracy of using the propose method for Rpeak detection is 99.63 % and abnormal detection is 99.60 %.
This paper analysis the Dynamic Time Warping algorithms for time normalization of speech pattern and discusses the Dynamic Programming algorithm for spoken Korean isolated digits recognition. In the DP matching, feature vectors of the reference and test pattern are consisted of first three formant frequencies extracted by power spectrum density estimation algorithm of the ARMA model. The major differences in the various DTW algorithms include the global path constrains, the local continuity constraints on the path, and the distance weighting/normalization used to give the overall minimum distance. The performance criterias to evaluate these DP algorithms are memory requirement, speed of implementation, and recognition accuracy.

This paper describes the simplified DTW algorithm for real time korean digit recognition and construct the digit recognition system using that algorithm. The DTW algorithm which is used nowadays have problems on real time recognition because of its massive computation. But, simplified DTW algorithm, which is proposed in this paper, solved these problems. In the case of single syllable, we use the characteristic of uniform distribution of epansion and contraction on time ais, compare distance of input pattern and reference pattern using constrainedly restricted path. As a result, we can reduce a great deal of computation and achieved that the real time korean digit recognition system.

There are various image retrieval methods using shape, color and texture features. One of the most active area is using shape and color information. A number of shape representations have been suggested to recognize shapes even under affine transformation. There are many kinds of method for shape recognition, the well-known method is Fourier descriptors and moment invariant. The other method is CSS(Curvature Scale Space). The maxima of curvature scale space image have already been used to represent 2-D shapes in different applications. Because preexistence CSS exists several problems, in this paper we use improved CSS method for retrieval image. There are two kinds of method, One is using RGB color information feature and the other is using HSI color information feature. In this paper we used HSI color model to represent color histogram before, then use it as comparison measure. The similarity is measured by using Euclidean distance and for reduce search time and accuracy, We use DTW for measure similarity. Compare with the result of using Euclidean distance, we can find efficiency elevated.
