The rate constants for the following vibration-to-vibration energy exchange reactions have been calculated theoretically for the temperature range from 300 to 800K and for n = 2 to 5. HF(v=n) + DF(v=0) ${\to}$ HF(v=n-l) + DF(v=l) + ${\Delta}E$(a) DF(v=n) + HF(v=0) ${\to}$ DF(v=n-l) + HF(v=l) + ${\Delta}E$(b) In calculation the loosely-held, non-rigid dimer collision model and semiclassical method have been employed. The results show that the rate constants for the processes (a) are much greater than those for the processes (b). Also, it is found that the rate constants for the processes (a) increase with decreasing temperature and with increasing quantum number, while those for the processes (b) show the opposite tendencies. These findings are explained in terms of the sign and magnitude of the energy mismatch, ${\Delta}E$.

Objectives : This study investigated the improvement effects of Pakistani (DF-a) and Chinese Ephedra herba-containing Gangjihwan (DF-b) on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in a high fat diet-induced obese mouse model. Methods : Eight-week-old C57BL/6N mice were divided into five groups: a normal lean group given a standard diet, an obese control group given a high fat diet, and atorvastatin, DF-a, and DF-b groups given a high fat diet with atorvastatin (10 mg/kg), DF-a (80 mg/kg), and DF-b (80 mg/kg), respectively. After 8 weeks of treatment, body weight gain, blood lipid markers, ALT concentrations, liver weight and histology were examined. Results : 1. Body weight gain was significantly decreased in DF-a, DF-b, and atorvastatin groups compared with control. The extent of decreases was eminent in DF-a group. 2. Circulating concentrations of total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol were significantly decreased in DF-a, DF-b, and atorvastatin groups compared with control. The decreases were most effective in atorvastatin group. 3. Liver weights were decreased in DF-a, DF-b, and atorvastatin groups compared with control. In particular, liver weight was significantly reduced in DF-b group. 4. Hepatic lipid accumulation was significantly decreased in DF-a, DF-b, and atorvastatin groups compared with control, and the magnitude of which was most effective in DF-b group. 5. Circulating ALT concentrations were decreased in DF-a, DF-b, and atorvastatin groups compared with control, but ALS levels were significantly reduced only in DF-b group. Conclusions : In conclusion, these results suggest that DF-a and DF-b decrease body weight gain, improve blood lipid metabolism, and reduce liver weight and hepatic lipid accumulation, contributing to the improvement of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. In addition, these effects were similar between Pakistani and Chinese Ephedra herba-containing Gangjihwan.

Objectives : This study investigated the improvement effects of Pakistani (DF-a) and Chinese Ephedra herba-containing Gangjihwan (DF-b) on obesity in a high fat diet-fed obese mouse model. Methods : Eight-week-old C57BL/6N mice were divided into four groups: a normal lean group given a standard diet, an obese control group given a high fat diet, and DF-a and DF-b groups given a high fat diet with DF-a (80 mg/kg), and DF-b (80 mg/kg), respectively. After 8 weeks of treatment, body weight gain, feeding efficiency ratio, blood lipid markers, fat weight and histology were examined. Results : 1. Body weight gain and fat mass were significantly decreased in DF-a and DF-b groups compared with control. The extent of decreases was eminent in DF-a group. 2. Feeding efficiency ratio and circulating leptin concentration were significantly decreased in DF-a and DF-b groups compared with control, whereas circulating adiponectin concentration was increased in DF-a and DF-b groups compared with control. 3. Consistent with their effects on body weight gain and fat mass, circulating concentrations of triglyceride, glucose and insulin were decreased in DF-a and DF-b groups compared with control. 4. The size of adipocytes were decreased by DF-a and DF-b compared with control, whereas the adipocyte number per unit area was increased by them, suggesting that DF-a and DF-b decreased the number of large adipocytes. 5. Consistent with their effects on body weight gain, liver fibrosis was reduced in DF-a and DF-b groups compared with control. Conclusions : In conclusion, these results suggest that DF-a and DF-b not only decrease feeding efficiency ratio, plasma leptin concentration, and blood anti-obesity biomarkers, but also reduce fat mass, contributing to the improvement of obesity. DF-a and DF-b also inhibit liver fibrosis. In addition, these effects were similar between Pakistani Ephedra herba and Chinese Ephedra herba-containing Gangjihwan.

In this paper a fixed-delay trellis search with decision feedback (FDTrS/DF) for high-density DVD systems (4.7-15GB) is proposed and implemented with FPGA. The proposed FDTrS/DF is derived by transforming the binary tree search structure into trellis search structure implying that FDTrS/DF performs better than the singnal detection techniques based on tree search structure such as FDTS/DF and SSD/DF. Advantages of FDTrS/DF are significant reductions in hardware complexity due to the unique structure of FDTrS composed of only one trellis stage requiring no traceback procedure usually implemented in the Viterbi detector. Also in this paper the PDFS/DF and SSD/DF orginally proposed for high-density magnetic recording systems are modified for the DVD system and compared with the proposed FDTrS/DF. In order to increase speed in the FPGA implementation the pipelining technique and absolute branch metric (instead of square branch metric) are applied. The proposed FDTrS/DF is shown to provide the best performance among various signal detection techniques such as PRML, DFE, FDTS/DF and SSD/DF even with a small hardware complexity.
Long-chain fatty acids (LCFAs) are vital in cellular compartments, primarily regulating lipid metabolism. Fatty Acid-Binding Proteins (FABPs) facilitate LCFA transport, lipid synthesis, storage, and act as signaling molecules influencing various pathways, including inflammation. FABP4, in particular, is linked to vascular and cardio-related diseases, and it plays a role in macrophage-mediated inflammatory responses. Previous studies have identified FABP4 as not only a representative biomarker for lipogenesis but also as having correlations with immune responses. This study aims to investigate the regulation of the chicken FABP4 (chFABP4) gene by toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) activation and determine the signaling pathways that are involved in chFABP4 transcriptional regulation. We analyzed the transcriptional regulation of chFABP4 in TLR3-stimulated DF-1 cells. The results showed that chFABP4 was up-regulated upon stimulation with polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid (PIC), a TLR3 ligand. Notably, chFABP4 transcription was independently regulated in the NF-κB signaling pathway. It was up-regulated in p38 inhibition, demonstrating that the p38 signaling pathway might suppress the transcription of chFABP4 within TLR3-activated DF-1 cells. In contrast, chFABP4 expression was down-regulated in JNK signaling pathway inhibition, suggesting the positive regulation of JNK signaling pathway for chFABP4 transcription in DF-1 cells in response to TLR3 activation, consistent with findings in macrophages. MEK pathway inhibition resulted in a similar regulation to NF-κB signaling. These results suggest that each MAPK contributes differentially to the transcriptional regulation of chFABP4 by in DF-1 cells in response to TLR3 activation.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the cognitive function in NIDDM patients. Method: The data were collected at MI OPD in C University hospital. with Digit Span Forward & Backward, Trail Making Test-A, Trail Making Test-B, and MMSE. Result: There were significant differences in DF, DB, TMT-A, and TMT-B according to gender, and in TMT-A according to living with spouse and comorbidity. There were significant differences in DF, DB, TMT-A, TMT-B, and MMSE according to monthly income, and in DF, TMT-A, and TMT-B according to hypertensive state. But, there was no difference in cognitive function score according to diabetes-related complication and diabetes treatment modality. There was a significant positive correlation between duration of NIDDM and TMT-A(r=.215, p=.025). The global cognition score was explained 42.1% of varient by age, duration of education, monthly income, and hypertensive state. Conclusion: As above results showed, among age, duration of education, monthly income, and hypertensive state, prevented and managed hypertensive state which is modifiable factor may reduce or delay cognitive function impairment in NIDDM patients. And DF & DB, TMT-A & B could be more utilized as useful cognitive function measurements because those tests reflected cognitive function in NIDDM patients better than MMSE.

In this paper, a nonlinear algorithm that maximizes zero-error probability (MZEP) with decision feedback (DF) is proposed to counteract both of severely distorted multi-path fading effect and impulsive noise. The proposed MZEP-DF algorithm has shown the immunity to impulsive noise and the ability of the feedback filter section to cancel the remaining intersymbol interference as well. Compared with the linear MZEP algorithm, it yields above 10 dB enhancement of steady state MSE performance in severely distorted multipath fading channels with impulse noise where the least mean square (LMS) algorithm does not converge below -3dB of MSE.
Bacterial DNA containing immunostimulatory CpG motifs can stimulate antigen-presenting cells to express co-stimulatory molecules and to produce various cytokines in vivo and in vitro. In this study, we fragmented macromolecular E.coli genomic DNA with DNase I, and analyzed the ability of the resulting DNA fragments to induce the NF-${\kappa}B$ activation and humoral immune response. Furthermore, using computational analysis and luciferase assay for synthetic ODNs based on the sequence of the immunostimulatory DNA fragments (DF-ODNs), an active component of DF-ODNs sequences was investigated. Experimental results demonstrated that DF-ODN is optimal for the NF-${\kappa}B$-responsive promoter activation in the mouse macrophage cell line and the humoral immune response in vivo. In agreement with the activity of the DF-ODNs processed by DNase I, a synthetic ODN based on the DF-ODN sequences is potent at inducing IL-12 mRNA expression in primary dendritic cells. These results suggest that the discovery and characterization of a highly active natural CpG-ODN may be achieved by the analyses of bacterial DNA fragments generated by a nuclease activity.

Let P be a probability measure on the real line with Lebesque-density f. The usual estimator of the distribution function (≡df) of P for the sample $\chi$$_1$,…, $\chi$$\_$n/ is the empirical df: F$\_$n/(t)=(equation omitted). But this estimator does not take into account the smoothness of F, that is, the existence of a density f. Therefore, one should expect that an estimator which is better adapted to this situation beats the empirical df with respect to a reasonable measure of performance.(omitted)
