  • In this paper, the linearization technique for CMOS low-noise amplifier (LNA) using the derivative superposition method through the multiple gated transistors configuration is presented. LNA based on 0.13um RF CMOS process has been implemented with a modified cascode configuration using multiple gated common source transistors to fulfill a high linearity. Compared with a conventional cascode type LNA, the third order input intercept point (IIP3) per DC power consumption (IIP3/DC) is improved by 3.85 dB. The LNA achieved 2.5-dBm IIP3 with 13.4-dB gain, 3.6 dB NF at 2.4 GHz consuming 8.56 mA from a 1.5-V supply.

23 GHz대 2단 저잡음 증폭기의 제작기술에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fabrication Technologies for the 23 GHz 2-Stage LNA)

  • MPIE 수치해석적 기법과 초고주파대 CAD 소프트웨 어 인 EEsof를 활용하여 2단 23 GHz대 저잡음 증폭기를 설계하였다 이 회로는 먼저 EEsof를 이용하여 기초 설계를 하고 MPIE 기볍에 의해 수정과 상세 해석을 실시 하는 방법으로 하였다. 입.출력단의 정합 부분은 평행 결합 여파기 형태로 하였는데 이는 임피던스 정합과 DC 차단을 동시에 실시할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 불연속 부분이 적고 설계시 해석의 오차가 적은 장점을 가지고 있다. FET칩은 접지 급속 변에서 직접 부착하였다. 제작된 증폭기는 이득이 콘넥터 손실 1.8 dB를 고려하지 않은 상태에서 15.2 dB, 잡음지수가 2.7 dB를 나타냈다. 이와 같은 결과는 본 논문에서 사용한 설계 기법과 정합 기술이 20 GHz대 이상의 회로설계 및 제작에 적합하다고 할 수 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 전자선 묘화 방법을 이용하여 게이트 길이가 0.35 ㎛인 AlGaAs/InGaAs PHEMT를 제작하였다. 다른 게이트 폭과 게이트 핑거 수를 갖도록 제작된 PHEMT의 DC 및 AC 특성은 여러 가지의 바이어스 조건에서 측정하였다. 또한, 제작된 PHEMT와 수동 소자의 라이브러리를 이용하여 35 GHz에서 동작 가능한 MIMIC 전력증폭기를 설계 및 제작하였다. 제작된 MIMIC 전력증폭기는 27.6 GHz에서 7.9㏈의 이득과 -15 ㏈의 입력 반사 계수를 나타내었다.

Stability and Performance Investigations of Model Predictive Controlled Active-Front-End (AFE) Rectifiers for Energy Storage Systems

  • This paper investigates the stability and performance of model predictive controlled active-front-end (AFE) rectifiers for energy storage systems, which has been increasingly applied in power distribution sectors and in renewable energy sources to ensure an uninterruptable power supply. The model predictive control (MPC) algorithm utilizes the discrete behavior of power converters to determine appropriate switching states by defining a cost function. The stability of the MPC algorithm is analyzed with the discrete z-domain response and the nonlinear simulation model. The results confirms that the control method of the active-front-end (AFE) rectifier is stable, and that is operates with an infinite gain margin and a very fast dynamic response. Moreover, the performance of the MPC controlled AFE rectifier is verified with a 3.0 kW experimental system. This shows that the MPC controlled AFE rectifier operates with a unity power factor, an acceptable THD (4.0 %) level for the input current and a very low DC voltage ripple. Finally, an efficiency comparison is performed between the MPC and the VOC-based PWM controllers for AFE rectifiers. This comparison demonstrates the effectiveness of the MPC controller.

CRA 기법을 이용한 PWM 컨버터의 강인제어기 설계 (CRA Based Robust Controller Design for PWM Converter)

  • 본 논문에서는 PWM 컨버터의 강인제어기를 제안한다. 제안된 컨버터제어기는 DC 출력전압 제어를 위한 PI 제어기와 입력전류를 전원과 동상인 정현파로 제어하기 위해 오차공간에서 제어 문제를 해결한 전류제어기로 구성되어있다. 종래에는 전류제어기의 설계과정에서 소자의 스위칭주파수 및 디지탈제어기의 샘플링 주파수 등을 고려하여 제어기 게인값에 대한 해를 구하는 과정에서 시행착오 방법을 사용하여야 했다. 그러나 제안된 제어기는 CRA 기법을 적용하여 원하는 응답속도 및 오버슈트를 가지도록 최적의 게인값을 설정하도록 하였다. 먼저 CRA 기법을 적용한 전류제어기 알고리즘을 설명하고 PSiM 시뮬레이션 및 실험을 통하여 제안된 제어기의 타당성을 검증한다.

A Buck-Boost Converter-Based Bipolar Pulse Generator

  • This paper presents a buck-boost converter-based bipolar pulse generator, which is able to generate bipolar exponential pulses across a resistive load. The concept of the proposed approach depends on operating the involved buck-boost converters in discontinuous current conduction mode with high-voltage gain and enhanced efficiency. A full design of the pulse generator and its passive components is presented to ensure generating the pulses with the desired specifications (rise time, pulse width, and pulse magnitude) for a given load resistance and input dc voltage. In case of moderate pulsed output voltages (i.e. few of kV), one module of the presented bipolar generator can be employed. While in case of high-voltage pulsed output, multi-module version can be employed, where each module is fed from an isolated dc source and their outputs are connected in series. Simulation models for the proposed approach are built to elucidate their performance in case of one-module as well as multi-module based generator. Finally, a scaled-down prototype for one-module of buck-boost converter-based bipolar pulse generator is implemented to validate the proposed concept.

TETRA 신호를 위한 800 MHz 대역 1W 급 Cartesian feedback 선형 전력 증폭기에 관한 연구 (A Study on 800 MHz 1W Cartesian Feedback Linearized Power Amplifier for TETRA Signals)

  • 본 논문에서는 TETRA 단말기용 800 MHz 대역 1 W급 cartesian feedback 선형전력증폭기를 설계 및 제작하였다. 200 kHz 협대역을 갖는 TETRA 신호를 증폭 시, cartesian feedback 선형화기를 통해서 ${\pm}25$ kHz 오프셋 주파수에서 30 dBc 이상의 전력증폭기 선형성을 개선하였다. 선형화의 성능은 I/Q 신호간의 이득과 위상의 불일치 및 DC offset 성분에 의해서 영향을 받음을 알 수 있으며 이러한 문제를 보상 시 선형화를 극대화 할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. Cartesian feedback 선형화기는 협대역 QAM 신호의 선형화 기술로 적합함을 확인하였으며 이를 이용하여 다른 변조방식을 갖는 신호들의 선형화방법으로도 적용 가능하다.

Analysis and Implementation of LC Series Resonant Converter with Secondary Side Clamp Diodes under DCM Operation for High Step-Up Applications

  • Resonant converters have attracted a lot of attention because of their high efficiency due to the soft-switching performance. An isolated high step-up converter with secondary-side resonant loops is proposed and analyzed in this paper. By placing the resonant loops on the secondary side, the current stress for the resonant capacitors is greatly reduced. The power loss caused by the equivalent series resistance of the resonant capacitor is also decreased. Clamp diodes in parallel with the resonant capacitors ensure a unique discontinuous current mode in the converter. Under this mode, the active switches can realize soft-switching during both turn-on and turn-off transitions. Meanwhile, the reverse-recovery problems of diodes are also alleviated by the leakage inductor. The converter is essentially a step-up converter. Therefore, it is helpful for decreasing the transformer turn-ratio when it is applied as a high step-up converter. The steady-state operation principle is analyzed in detail and design considerations are presented in this paper. Theoretical conclusions are verified by experimental results obtained from a 500W prototype with a 35V-42V input and a 400V output.

A Differential Voltage-controlled Oscillator as a Single-balanced Mixer

  • This paper proposes a low power radio frequency receiver front-end where, in a single stage, single-balanced mixer and voltage-controlled oscillator are stacked on top of low noise amplifier and re-use the dc current to reduce the power consumption. In the proposed topology, the voltage-controlled oscillator itself plays the dual role of oscillator and mixer by exploiting a series inductor-capacitor network. Using a 65 nm complementary metal oxide semiconductor technology, the proposed radio frequency front-end is designed and simulated. Oscillating at around 2.4 GHz frequency band, the voltage-controlled oscillator of the proposed radio frequency front-end achieves the phase noise of -72 dBc/Hz, -93 dBc/Hz, and -113 dBc/Hz at 10KHz, 100KHz, and 1 MHz offset frequency, respectively. The simulated voltage conversion gain is about 25 dB. The double-side band noise figure is -14.2 dB, -8.8 dB, and -7.3 dB at 100 KHz, 1 MHz and 10 MHz offset. The radio frequency front-end consumes only 96 ㎼ dc power from a 1-V supply.

전기자동차용 유·무선 통합 충전 시스템의 고효율 동작을 위한 권선비 가변형 LLC 컨버터 설계 및 제어 방안 (Design and Control of Adjustable Turn-ratio LLC Converter for High-efficiency Operation of Wired/Wireless Integrated Charging System for Electric Vehicles)

  • This paper proposes a method to adjust the turn ratio of a transformer for the high-efficiency operation of an LLC converter with a wide input range in a wired/wireless integrated charging system for electric vehicles. The characteristics of the inductive power transfer converter in the integrated charging system are analyzed to design the LLC converter, and the DC-link voltage range is derived. The aspect of voltage gain following each parameter of the LLC converter is analyzed, and the resonant network and transformer are designed. Based on the designed parameters, the feasibility of the design and control method is verified by implementing the operation of the LLC converter according to the DC-link and battery voltages.
