  • In this paper, a control system design method is proposed for DC motor drive. A state space model is used to control sysytem and for closed loop system the technique of pole assignment is applied. The control system is designed with state feedback theory and to improve the response further more feedforward theory is applied to control system. The microprocessor as a controller and the interfaces in the system are proposed. Digital simulation results for step changes in reference velocity and load torque are shown.

  • This paper is to show design of robot manipulator which has 3-link using DC Motor and realization of control algorithm with IBM - XT Micro-computer connected. Gentral algorithm is applicated by position and pass control using point-to-point method. At first, this paper computes required angles on each joint in order to search desired position or path, and uses a voltage control with feedback from output of encoder and tachometer in real time. The application of control algorithm on position, velocity and force for each joint of manipulator by using self-tuning control is left for next study.

  • A dynamic model of the Korean total artificial heart(TAH) which contains a brushless DC motor, all of mechanical components, the pump system with integrated variable volume space(WS) and the circulatory system model including the bronchial circulation were established Two different sets of seven differential equations were separately derived for the left and right systolic period of the Korean TAH operation. Throughout the computer simulation, a full-state fEedback optimal controller that minimizes the power consumption of the Korean TAH and drives the end stage velocity of the energy converter to zero was developed based upon the optimal control theory. Robustness of the controller were also analyzed with the dynamic model of the Korean TAH.

  • Solar array simulator (SAS) is a special DC power supply that regulates the output voltage or current to emulate characteristics of photovoltaic (PV) panels. Especially, the control of SAS is a challenging task due to the nonlinearity in the output curve, which is dependent on irradiance as well as temperature and is determined by panel materials. Conventionally, both current-mode control and voltage-mode control should be alternated by partitioning the operating curve into multiple sections, which is not only for the measurement noise problem with the feedback sensing but also for the control stability issue near the maximum power point. However, the occurrence of transition among different controllers may deteriorate the overall performance. To eliminate the mode transitions, a novel single controller scheme has been introduced in this paper, where the reference operating projection technique enables simple, smooth and numerically stable control. Theoretical consideration on the loop stability issue is discussed and the performance is verified experimentally for the emulation of a PV panel data in view of stability and response speed.

  • In this paper, model reference adaptive fuzzy controller (MRAFC) was proposed in order to overcome the difficulty of extracting rules and defects of the adaptation performance in the FLC. MRAFC comprised inner feedback loop consisting of the FLC and plant, and outer loop consisting of an adaptation mechanism which is designed for tuning a control rule of the FLC. A reference-model was used for design criteria of a fuzzy controller which characterizes and quantizes the control performance required in the overall control system. Tuning control rules of FLC is performed by the adaptation mechanism. For this, the fuzzy model for tuning the contorl rules is designed in accordance with the feature of error information. And DC servo motor was selected for case study of actual industrial plant and tested on various loads.

  • In position control system using variable structure control, the velocity of control object is controlled to approach the desired specified velocity patterns, and eventually the position of control object is correctly at reference position. Here, this intention can be success by means of variable structure control. In this paper, the PI velocity feedback control is also used sliding mode controller. The design of position controller under specified velocity profiles in variable structure control's constraints is studied.

A Simple Grid-Voltage-Sensorless Control Scheme for PFC Boost Converters

  • This paper introduces a simple grid-voltage-sensorless control scheme for single-phase power factor correction (PFC) boost converters. The grid voltage waveform is obtained based on the dc output voltage, the switching duty ratio, and a phase-lead compensator. In addition, the duty ratio feedback is utilized to obtain the unity input power factor and the zero harmonic current. The proposed control scheme is designed and mathematically analyzed based on a small-signal model of PFC boost converters. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme, several simulations and experiments are carried out in two applications: an industrial power system with a 60 Hz grid frequency and a commercial aircraft application with a 400 Hz grid frequency.

Predictive and Preventive Maintenance using Distributed Control on LonWorks/IP Network

  • The time delay in servo control on LonWorks/IP Virtual Device Network (VDN) is highly stochastic in nature. LonWorks/IP VDN induced time delay deteriorates the performance and stability of the real-time distributed control system and hinders an effective preventive and predictive maintenance. Especially in real-time distributed servo applications on the factory floor, timely response is essential for predictive and preventive maintenance. In order to guarantee the stability and performance of the system for effective preventive and predictive maintenance, LonWorks/IP VDN induced time delay needs to be predicted and compensated for. In this paper position control simulation of DC servo motor using Zero Phase Error Tracking Controller (ZPETC) as a feedforward controller, and Internal Model Controllers (IMC) based on Smith predictor with disturbance observer as a feedback controller is performed. The validity of the proposed control scheme is demonstrated by comparing the IMC based on Smith predictor with disturbance observer.

  • 본 논문은 시변 파라미터를 갖는 직류 모터의 적응 제어를 위한 온라인 상태궤환 제어시스템을 구성한다. 모터의 전기자 저항은 공칭값에 대하여 가우시안 랜덤변수로 가정하고 온라인 최소자승 추정법을 이용하여 실시간으로 추정한다. 모터의 부하 토크 또한 시변 특성을 가지며 이런 시스템 환경의 변화에 대해서도 설정치를 잘 추종하는 특성을 갖도록 한다. 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통해 제어기법의 타당성을 검증하며 기존의 상태궤환 제어기법과 비교분석하여 성능의 우수성을 입증한다.

  • 본 논문은 속도 운전 영역 확장을 위한 자동 진상각 제어 알고리즘을 제안한다. 속도 운전 영역 확장을 위하여 상전류의 위상을 역기전력의 위상에 대하여 진상으로 제어한다. 기존의 진상각 제어 방식은 속도 - 진상각 참조표를 이용하거나 추가적인 하드웨어를 구성하여 제어한다. 참조표를 이용한 제어 방식의 경우 전동기의 특성에 매우 민감하며 운전점이 변경될 경우 제어 특성이 현저히 나빠지는 단점이 있으며, 추가적인 하드웨어를 이용하는 경우 전동기의 제정수에 의존적임과 동시에 제어 시스템의 부피 및 비용 증가와 같은 문제를 야기시킨다. 본 논문은 유효 전압의 크기와 전류 제어기의 궤환 전압을 이용하여 필요한 진상각을 계산한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 방식의 유용함은 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통하여 타당함을 검증하였다.
