고온초전도 직류 케이블용 절연재료인 PPLP의 직류 및 임펄스 절연 특성 (DC and Impulse Insulation Characteristics of PPLP for HTS DC Cable)

  • To realize the high-Tc superconducting (HTS) DC cable system, it is important to study not only high current capacity and low loss of conductor but also optimum electrical insulation at cryogenic temperature. A model HTS DC cable system consists of a HTS conductor, semi-conductor, cooling system and insulating materials. Polypropylene laminated paper (PPLP) has been widely adopted as insulating material for HTS machines. However, the fundamental insulation characteristics of PPLP for the development of HTS DC cable have not been revealed satisfactorily until now. In this paper, we will discuss mainly on the breakdown characteristics of 3 sheets PPLP in liquid nitrogen ($LN_2$). The characteristics of the diameter, location of butt-gap, distance between butt-gap length, pressure effect, polarity effect under DC and impulse voltage were studied. Also, the DC polarity reversal breakdown voltage of mini-model cable was measured in $LN_2$ under 0.4 MPa.

  • The dielectric breakdown of epoxy composites used for transformers was experimented and then its data were simulated by Weibull distribution probability. First of all, speaking of dielectric breakdown properties, the more hardener increased the stronger breakdown strength at low temperature because of cross-linked density by the virtue of ester radical. The breakdown strength of specimens with filler was lower than it of non-filler specimens because it is believed that the adding filler forms interface and charge is accumulated in it, therefore the molecular motility is raised and the electric field is concentrated. In the case of filled specimens with treating silane, the breakdown strength become much higher Finally, from the analysis of weibull distribution, it was confirmed that as the allowed breakdown probability was given by 0.1[%], the applied field value needed to be under 21.5 [Mv/cm].

  • DC dielectric breakdown properties of epoxy composites with various additives rates and curing conditions were investigated at the temperature range from 20[$^{\circ}C$] to 180[$^{\circ}C$]. At low temperature an improvement of the characteristics is observed due to curing agents. The additions of filter is lower the temperature dependences of the breakdown strength. Samples treated with silan have a higher breakdown strength than non-treating filled samples.

  • Electrical breakdown strength of paper-oil and polypropylene/film-oil insulation samples was measured under dc, ac and pulsating voltages. The latter was obtained by superimposing ac upon dc volate and provides an attractive method for a simultaneous testing and assessment of the state of insulation of the various parts of HV apparatus in service. The measurements were carried out over a wide range of the pulsation ratio defined as p=Eac/Edc. The results obtained under pulsating voltages follow colsely an experssion which relates the breakdown strength to the sum of arc tangent and arc cotangent function of the parameter p. The study was carried out using dry paper as well as paper containing various degrees of moisture. The presence of moisture showed a pronounced effect upon the breakdown strength which varied with the pulsation parameter p.

  • In this study, the DC dielectric breakdown of polyethylene used for clothing material of cable was experimented and then its data were simulated by Weibull distribution probability. The dielectric breakdown characteristics in polyethylene were examined and various effects of the DC dielectric breakdown on polyethylene were also discussed.

  • In this study as treating to filter silance coupling agent (KM-6030 improving coupling strength between matrix resin (bisphenole-A type epoxy resin) and filler (SiO2), breakdown strength was investigated on cases applying DC voltage to specimen. In the case on DC voltage, breakdown strength was improved bout 12.73% and 10.77% in specimen of 5[wt%] and 50[wt%] of filler content of 10 of epoxy. Therefore, it was investigate the effect that concentration of coupling agent and content of filler was influential on breakdown strength of epoxy resin.

  • Polyethylene, has long history and is widely used, was researched due to good electrical properties by many authors. But PE under stress has the critical defects of space charge accumulation and tree growth, so various methods such as catalyst, additives and blend to improve these problems have been execute, of which we selected blending method. As in our previous papers we investigated electrical conduction, dielectric and AC dielectric breakdown characteristics, we did DC dielectric breakdown characteristics in this paper. We selected pure LLDPE, pure EVA and LLDPE films mixed with EVA as specimens, which were mixed with the weight percentages of 50, 60, 70 and 80[wt%] to be thin film. DC applying voltage speed was 500[V/sec]. The relation between dielectric breakdown characteristics and the variations of super structure due to mixing was investigated, and especially trap level at amorphous region, threshold energy increment of conductive electron at free volume were considered.

  • We investigated the breakdown characteristic of mineral oil according to applied voltage and tip radius. In this experiment, electrode system was point-plane geometry. The tip radius of needle was 5, 10, 20 and $25{\mu}m$, respectively. Applied voltage was AC and DC. We measured breakdown voltage for each tip radius with increasing electrode gap, 2mm to 10mm. Under nonuniform electric field, breakdown strength was higher when needle was negative than when needle was positive. Because it is polarity effects due to space charge. And the more sharp tip radius, whether we applied AC or DC, the higher breakdown strength. As tip radius increase, breakdown strength decreases exponentially.

  • 본 논문에서 개발된 IGBT 구조는 DC 송배전을 위한 고전력 스위치 반도체로서 사용되며, 빠른 스위칭 속도 및 개선된 항복전압 특성을 확보하여, 향후 신재생 장거리 DC 송전을 위한 중요한 전자 소자로서 이용될 것이 기대되고 있다. 새로운 타입의 차세대 전력 반도체로서, 스위칭 속도를 향상시키면서 동시에 항복 전압의 특성을 개선시켜, 전력 손실 특성을 줄이도록 설계되었고, 높은 전류 밀도의 장점을 동시에 획득 가능하다. 이러한 개선된 특성은 Planar IGBT의 N-drift 영역에 $SiO_2$를 추가로 도입함으로서 얻어지며, Sentaurus TCAD 시뮬레이션 툴을 사용하여, 비교 분석하였다.

  • A high-$T_c$ superconducting (HTS) DC application has advantages such as the ultimately lower loss, more compact dimensions, and large capacity compared to AC application. In order to optimize the insulation design of a HTS DC machines, it is important to understand the high voltage insulation and materials at cryogenic temperature. Polypropylene laminated paper (PPLP) has been widely used as an insulating material for HTS AC machines. However, the fundamental data under DC voltage have not been revealed satisfactorily until now. In this paper, we will discuss mainly on the breakdown and dielectric characteristics of PPLP in liquid nitrogen ($LN_2$). The polarity effects of DC and impulse voltage were studied by using the semi-rod to cylindrical electrode. The volume resistivity of PPLP in $LN_2$ was studied. Also, the space charge distribution at room temperature was studied. However, it is necessary to study this topic at cryogenic temperature in the near future.
