  • Voltage controlled current regulated PWM(pulse width modulation) of VSI (voltage source inverter) is proposed. Adopting one degree of freedom, the voltage, the current controller shows much more improvement than conventional ones not using this method. The voltage controller or this proposal needs load's parameters, torque value, rotational speed. This voltage controller is located at converter part which links AC source and DC bus. With this proposed method, duty ratio of the inverter's switching is nearly unity for all speed and torque range. Hence, this method gets many advantages such as reducing current ripple, thermal loss, and noises and improving control performances. Theoretical approach to this voltage-current controller is performed, and the results are presented.

  • This study proposes high-performance voltage controller design that employs a capacitor current control model for single-phase stand-alone inverters. The single-phase stand-alone inverter is analyzed via modeling, which is then used to design the controller. A design methodology is proposed to maximize the bandwidth of the feedback controller. Subsequently, to compensate for the problems caused by the bandwidth limitations of the controller, an error transfer function that includes the feedback controller is derived, and the stability of the repetitive control scheme is evaluated using the error transfer function. The digital repetitive controller is then implemented. The simulation and experimental results show that the performance of the proposed controller is high in a 1.5 kW single-phase stand-alone inverter prototype.

  • A large number of soft switching topologies included a resonant circuit have been proposed. But these circuits increase number of switch in circuit and complicate sequence of switching operation. In this paper, the authors propose power conversion system, DC-AC inverter of high efficiency and high power factor with soft switching mode by partial resonant method. The switching devices in a proposed circuits are operated with soft switching by the partial resonant method, that is, PRS2MPC (Partial Resonant Soft Switching Mode Power Converter). The result is that the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of system is high. And the snubber condenser used in partial resonant circuit makes charging energy regenerated at input power source for resonant operation.

  • In an effort to conserve electric power, variable voltage variable frequency pulse width modulated (PWM) inverters are being applied increasingly to the variable speed control of the induction motors. The use of the PWM technique in motor drive applications is considered advantageous in many ways. For industrial applications, the PWM drive obtains its DC input through simple uncontrolled rectification of the commercial AC line and is favored for its good power factor, good efficiency, its relative freedom regulation problem, and mainly for its ability to operate the motor with nearly sinusoidal current waveforms. The purpose of this paper is to design a three phase natural sampled PWM inverter using microprocessor with simple control algorithm and hybrid control circuit has been built to implement this PWM scheme. In this system, the microprocessor can be used only for calculations directly related to motor control tasks by the design of hybrid circuit which sends PWM signals to the motor.

  • Comparative analysis of driving inverters for piezo-electric transformer (PT) is performed and the suit- able drive circuit for portable devices such as personal digital assistants (PDA) is chosen with the experiment in this paper. As a result, a single-switch inverter with a small two winding reactor is chosen, and then the advantages of this method are clarified. It is also confirmed that the driving inverter with this method enables to realize a stabilized AC 400v output and 82% power efficiency from DC 3V input under the conditions of the variations of load current or input voltage from the experiments. • In recent years, the multilevel converters have been given more attention due to their modularity, reliability, failure management and multi stepped output waveform with less total harmonic distortion. This paper presents a novel symmetric multilevel inverter topology with reduced switching components to generate a high quality stepped sinusoidal voltage waveform. The series and parallel combinations of switches in the proposed topology reduce the total number of conducting switches in each level of output voltages. In addition, a comparison between the proposed topology with another topology from the literature is presented. To verify the proposed topology, the computer based simulation model is developed using MATLAB/Simulink and experimentally with a prototype model results are then compared.
