  • In recent years, the maturity of the technology for a high speed underwater vehicle using supercavitation increase, it is entering the stage of applied research for practical use. In this study, hydrodynamic performance of the supercavitating object was evaluated by using a Viscous-Potential based Boundary Element Method(VP-BEM). 27 models with different shape parameters such as body diameter, length and fore-body shape were considered. The process of the supercavity development of each model was simulated, and drag generated according to operating conditions such as changes in water depth was analyzed.

  • Recent developments in the prediction of the contribution of windnoise to the interior SPL have opened a realm of new possibilities in terms of i) how the convective and acoustic sources terms can be identified, ii) how the interaction between the source terms and the side glass can be described and finally iii) how the transfer path from the sources to the interior of the vehicle can be modelled. This work discusses several simulation methods that can be used to represent the physical phenomena involved such as CFD, FEM, BEM, FE/SEA Coupled and SEA. This work focuses on the validation of the wind noise source characterization method and the vibro-acoustic models on which the wind noise sources are applied in the framework of a benchmark proposed by Hyundai Motors Corporation.

Therefore, Applying to the fracture mechanics by numerical analysis method is very important to analyse the crack problem Dissimilar Materials in Brazed Interface. In this study, Stress intensity Factor (S.I.F) is analysed to investigate crack behavior on the crack tip of dissimilar materials in brazed interface such as a Hardmetal and a HSS by two dimensional(2-D) Boundary Element Method (BEM). Kelvin's solution was used as a fundamental solution in BEM analysis and stress extrapolation method was used to determine Stress Intensity Factor.

  • In this study, By employing two dimensional(2-D) Boundary Element Method(BEM) stress analysis was carried to investigate stress distributions on the brazing joint of a Hardmetal and a HSS. Two model was proposed to analyze stress singularity in brazed interface. The stress results from the BEM were considered influence of the kind of materials , thickness of filled metal and length of vertical brazing adhesive. From those obtained results , the peak point of stress was founded in the lower part of two interface was made by brazing. As the thickness and length changed, the maximum stress tended to change in the peak point.

  • Understanding the effects of the parameters affecting the interaction of tandem hydrofoil system is a crucial subject in order to fully comprehend the aero/hydrodynamics of any vehicle moving inside a fluid. This study covers a parametric study on tandem hydrofoil interaction in both potential and viscous fluids using iterative Boundary Element Method (BEM) and RANSE. BEM allows a quick estimation of the flow around bodies and may be used for practical purposes to assess the interaction inside the fluid. The produced results are verified by conformal mapping and Finite Volume Method (FVM). RANSE is used for viscous flow conditions to assess the effects of viscosity compared to the inviscid solutions proposed by BEM. Six different parameters are investigated and they are the effects of distance, thickness, angle of attack, chord length, aspect ratio and tapered wings. A generalized 2-D code is developed implementing the iterative procedure and is adapted to generate results. Effects of free surface and cavitation are ignored. It is believed that the present work will provide insight into the parametric interference between hydrofoils inside the fluid.

  • An unconstrained tuning fork with a 3-D model has been numerically analyzed by Finite Element Method (FEM) and Boundary Element Method (BEM). The first three natural frequencies were calculated by the FEM modal analysis. Then the change of the modal frequencies was examined with the variation of the tuning fork length and width. Analytical model equations were derived from the numerically relating results of the modal frequency-tuning fork length by approximating minimization. Finally the BEM was used for the sound pressure field calculation from the structural displacement data.

  • This study is aimed to compare the insertion losses of periodically folded barriers which have same folded width, depth and period of arrangement but different direction of arrangement. One is vortical to the roadside and another is parallel. The pressure levels and the insertion losses at the receiving points behind finite length barriers are measured in an anechoic room by scale model test. The measured insertion losses are compared with calculated insertion losses by 3D BEM models.

  • We extend a p-hierarchical decomposition of the second degree finite element space of N$\acute{e}$d$\acute{e}$lec for tetrahedral meshes in three dimensions given in [1] to meshes with hexahedral elements, and derive p-hierarchical decompositions of the second degree finite element space of Raviart-Thomas in two dimensions for triangular and quadrilateral meshes. After having proved stability of these subspace decompositions and requiring certain saturation assumptions to hold, we construct a local a posteriori error estimator for fem and bem coupling of a time-harmonic electromagnetic eddy current problem in $\mathbb{R}^3$. We perform some numerical tests to underline reliability and efficiency of the estimator and test its usefulness in an adaptive refinement scheme.

  • This study analyses the seismic response of a three-dimensional (3-D) rigid massless square foundation resting or embedded in a viscoelastic soil limited by rigid bedrock. The foundation is subjected to harmonic oblique seismic waves P, SV, SH and R. The key step is the characterization of the soil-foundation interaction by computing the impedance matrix and the input motion matrix. A 3-D frequency boundary element method (BEM) in conjunction with the thin layer method (TLM) is adapted for the seismic analysis of the foundation. The dynamic response of the rigid foundation is solved from the wave equations by taking into account the soil-foundation interaction. The solution is formulated using the frequency BEM with the Green's function obtained from the TLM. This approach has been applied to analyze the effect of soilstructure interaction on the seismic response of the foundation as a function of the kind of incident waves, the angles of incident waves, the wave's frequencies and the embedding of foundation. The parametric results show that the non-vertical incident waves, the embedment of foundation, and the wave's frequencies have important impact on the dynamic response of rigid foundations.
