  • In this paper, evaluation method of structural integrity of cylindrical composite lattice structures was conducted. A finite element analysis was used to evaluate the structural integrity of composite lattice structures. In order to verify the optimal finite element in the evaluation of the structural integrity, finite element models for cylindrical composite lattice structure were generated using beam, shell and solid elements. The results of the finite element analyses with the shell and solid element models showed a good agreement. However, considerable differences were found between the beam element model and the shell and solid models. This occurred because the beam element does not take into account the degradation of the mechanical properties of the non-intersection parts of cylindrical composite lattice structures. It was found that the finite element analysis of evaluation of structural integrity for cylindrical composite lattice structures have to use solid element.

  • Classical and first-order nonlocal beam theory are employed in this study to assess the thermal buckling performance of a small-scale conical, cylindrical beam. The beam is constructed from functionally graded (FG) porosity-dependent material and operates under the thermal conditions of the environment. Imperfections within the non-uniform beam vary along both the radius and length direction, with continuous changes in thickness throughout its length. The resulting structure is functionally graded in both radial and axial directions, forming a bi-directional configuration. Utilizing the energy method, governing equations are derived to analyze the thermal stability and buckling characteristics of a nanobeam across different beam theories. Subsequently, the extracted partial differential equations (PDE) are numerically solved using the generalized differential quadratic method (GDQM), providing a comprehensive exploration of the thermal behavior of the system. The detailed discussion of the produced results is based on various applied effective parameters, with a focus on the potential application of nanotubes in enhancing sports bikes performance.

  • Vibration experiments have been performed to observe the analytic characteristics of power How finite element method(PFFEM) for the reinforced cylindrical structure. For this, the vibration experimental results are compared with the numerical solutions obtained by PFFEM in medium-to-high frequency ranges. Input Power into the experimental structure is measured using the impedance head adhered to the exciter, and that input power is used for the vibration analysis. Using the developed PFFEM program(PFADS), the reinforced cylindrical structure modeled by beam and plate elements is analyzed, and very reliable results for PFFEM are obtained by the comparisons of the experimental results.

  • This paper investigates the stability of a bi-directional functionally graded (BD-FG) cylindrical beam made of imperfect concrete, taking into account size-dependency and the effect of geometry on its stability behavior. Both buckling and dynamic behavior are analyzed using the modified coupled stress theory and the classical beam theory. The BD-FG structure is created by using porosity-dependent FG concrete, with changing porosity voids and material distributions along the pipe radius, as well as uniform and nonuniform radius functions that vary along the beam length. Energy principles are used to generate partial differential equations (PDE) for stability analysis, which are then solved numerically. This study sheds light on the complex behavior of BD-FG structures, and the results can be useful for the design of stable cylindrical microstructures.

  • In this study, the problem formulation and solution technique using genetic algorithms for design optimization of laminate composite cylindrical beam section are presented. The hollow cylindrical beams we usually used in the wheel chair. If the weight of wheel chair is reduced, it will lead to huge improvement in passenger's mobility and comfort. In this context, the replacement of steel by high performance and light weight composite material along with optimal design will be a good contribution in the process of weight reduction of a wheel chair. An artificial genetics approach for the design optimization of hollow cylindrical composite beam is presented. On applying the genetic algorithm, the optimal dimensions of hollow cylindrical composite beams which have equivalent rigidities to those of corresponding hollow cylindrical steel beams are obtained. Also structural analysis is conducted on the entire wheel chair structure incorporating Tsai-Wu failure criteria. The maximum Tsai-Wu failure criteria index is $0.192\times10^{-3}$ which is moth less than value of 1.00 indicating no failure is observed under excessive loading condition. It is found that the substitution of steel by composite material could reduce the weight of wheel chair up to 45%.

  • The eigen value problem of a coaxial cavity and a modified pill box cavity is investigated using the mode matching technique. The coaxial cavity has a cylindrical cavity with beam ports and center conductor. The pill box cavity is the same as a coaxial cavity without center conductor. The electric field and magnetic field are formulated in propagation region and resonance region. The boundary and orthogonal conditions are applied to the electric and magnetic fields. We derived the eigen value equation by the proposed procedure in a coaxial cavity and a modified pill box cavity. The electromagnetic field of the real structure is disturbed by the coaxial wire. The effect of the coaxial wire in pill box cavity with beam ports increase the dominant resonant frequency. The coaxial line method of the coupling impedance is not adequate for a cylindrical cavity. The results of the mode matching technique and simulation agree well. The results confirm the proposed formulation is valid.

  • The receptance method was applied for the analysis of a cylindrical shell with a spherical cap attached at an arbitrary axial position of the shell. The boundary condition of the shell considered here was clamped-free condition. Before the analysis of the shell/spherical cap combined structure, natural frequencies of the cap and the shell were calculated separately and then they were used in the calculation of the frequencies of the combined structure by the receptance method. • Coil inductor has been used widely as an electromagnet, because of the high magnetic filed resulting from the voltage applied to the coil. In this study the coils were used in vibration suppression as an actuator. The control system consists of a coil attached in aluminum beam and a permanent magnet set at its bottom. This actuation method is easy to be incorporated into the system and allows significant forces to be applied without contacting with the structure. Three types of coils (cylindrical type, square type, Circular sheet type) were employed in vibration suppression of cantilever beam. The positive position feedback (PPF) controller was applied to the magnet-coil actuator to suppress the first mode of vibration. Experimental results showed that the cylindrical type and square type coil made good vibration suppression efficiency under PPF controller than their eddy current damper. However, there was minimal difference for the circular sheet type coil if compared with its eddy current damper.

  • The present research investigates the dynamic behavior of a rotating functionally graded (FG) nonlocal cylindrical beam. The cylindrical beam is mathematically modeled via third-order beam theory linked with nonlocal strain gradient theory. The tube structure is made of functionally graded materials composed of Aluminum oxide coated on the Nickel, which the mechanical properties vary in the tube radius direction according to the power law. The bending harmonic force is applied in the tube length middle. The nonlocal spinning equations of the tube are derived via the energy method of the Hamilton principle, and they are solved via a robust numerical procedure for different boundary conditions. The main application of the rotating nanostructures is for the production of small-scale motors and devices and the drug-delivery application, the presented results can help the researcher have a better view regarding the different conditions.

  • Noise and vibrations in the pipe systems may be arisen from pumps. compressors, etc. The source mechanism is classified with the mechanical and hydraulic. Mechanical vibrations may be excited by the unbalance in rotating machinery. Hydraulic source may be generated in the turbulent flow. The vibro-acoustic behaviour of flexible, fluid-filled pipe system is a very complex and determined by two parameters: the frequency and the mass ratio of fluid and pipe wall. As the frequency increases, the mode number in the pipe increases. The mass ratio is close to one, the structure and the fluid are strongly coupled. In ease the diameter is very small to the length of pipe, the behaviour of pipe is same as a beam. The finite element formulation when the fluid and the structure are coupled is derived by using beam element. The Numerical results are compared with the package (Sysnoise) which is using the shell element.
