The relationship between ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase (AGP) activity and the characteristics of related pod setting in developing seed of soybean cv. Pungsannamulkong, Iksannamulkong, Geumjeongkong #1 and Danpaheuk was studied. AGP activity during the accumulate of the majority of dry matter in all cultivars suggested that this enzyme might be associated with this process. At the Vn and R1 stages, AGP activity of full-grown leaves of Pungsannamulkong, Iksannamulkong, Geumjeongkong #1 was the highest and then decreased progressively. However AGP activity of Danpaheuk was the lowest and also had lower seed weight. So regulation of matter accumulation in developing soybean seeds may also depend on AGP activity. AGP capacities as expressed by AGP activity seem to have a good predicting value for the dry matter of leaf and seed at R1 to R5 stages in our series of R3 stage genotypes. Western blots probed with antibody specific to the subunit of potato AGP revealed a single 60KD immunoreactive band that changed in intensity during the growth cycle in association with changes in total AGP activity.

In this paper, we carried out the basic design of 36 MTD natural gas BOG re-liquefaction system to recover the generated natural gas during performance test of LNG pump and natural gas compressor. The re-liquefaction process of natural gas is designed to have 1500 kg/h of liquefaction rate with reverse Brayton refrigeration cycle. With the designed process, the variation of liquefaction rate is calculated for various inlet conditions of feed gas. From results, the liquefaction rate is more sensitive for inlet temperature than gas composition. The specifications of equipments such as gas blower, natural gas compressor, cryogenic heat exchanger and nitrogen compander are determined on the basis of the designed process. The requirement of power consumption and cooling water are also determined through the basic design.
Accurate understanding and estimating Evapotranspiration (ET) is essential for understanding the mechanism of water cycle and water budget. ET has been analyzed by many researchers in worldwide while Ground-based ET has limiation in analyzing the spatio-temporal pattrens of ET. Thus, many researches have been conducted to represent the spatio-temporal variation of ET by using hydrometeorological variables estimated from remote sensing datasets. Previous remote sensing based ET algorithms, however, have disadvantage in that various hydrometeological input datasets were required. In this study, actual ET was estimated by MODIS-based Rn and MS-PT algorithm requiring relatively less input data than previous method. The result confirmed that the observed $R_N$ and latent heat flux from the eddy-covariance based fluxtowers located at CFK and SMK showed high correlation with the estimated $R_N$ and ET. The average determination coefficients ($R^2$) of ET estimated from satellite dataset over study periods were 0.77 (0.72-0.81) in Cheongmi (CFK) and 0.70 (0.67-0.78) in Sulma (SMK), respectively. Comparing with the actual ET of two flux tower sites, however, SMK showed more overestimated patterns than CFK due to the vegetation and radiation related errors.
The design of best efficient production process is common requirements of the production strategy department and the process planning department to maximize the revenue and accomplish target production volumes in the production periods. And they use several general methods for that-line-balancing, removing of the bottle-neck process, facility ramp-up, increasing of the worker's utilization, etc. But, those methods have depended on analytic, static and arithmetic calculations, yet. So, irregular work-waiting time causing the delay time isn't include in extracting production capacity, especially in the line production process. The work-waiting time is changed irregularly along the variation of each machine and very important for calculate real product lead-time and forecasting target production volumes. At this thesis, i'm going to mention the importance of the delay time of conveyor system which can be extracted by discrete-event simulation. And suggest it as a new main variable that must be considered at designing new production system. Then experimented and tested that's effects in the H-company case, conveyor based line production process.

The effect of temperature on swelling pressure was observed with a Korean domestic Ca-bentonite which has been considered as a potential buffer material in the engineering barrier of a high level radioactive waste (HLW) disposal system. The Ca-bentonite was compacted to a dry density of 1.6 g/$cm^3$, and then de-ionized water was supplied into it with a constant pressure of 0.69 MPa. The equilibrium swelling pressures were measured with different temperatures of $25^{\circ}C$, $30^{\circ}C$, $40^{\circ}C$, $50^{\circ}C$, $60^{\circ}C$, $70^{\circ}C$, respectively. The Ca-bentonite showed a sufficiently high swelling pressure of 5.3 MPa at room temperatures. Then it was clearly showed that the equilibrium swelling pressure was decreased with an increase of temperature. Interestingly, there were some differences in temperature effect on the equilibrium swelling pressure when the environmental temperature is increasing or decreasing. For further clarifying the swelling behaviour of a Korea domestic Ca-bentonite, the change of a compaction level, and the composition variation of a supplied water would be needed to use in conceptual design of HLW disposal system.

The A-KRS (Advanced Korean Reference Disposal System) is the disposal concept for pyroprocessed waste, which has been developed by the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. In this disposal concept, the amount of high-level radioactive waste is minimized using pyrochemical process, called pyroprocessing. The produced pyroprocessed waste is then solidified in the form of monazite ceramic. The final product of ceramic wastes will be disposed of in a deep geological repository. By the way, the decay heat is generated due to the radioactive decay of fission products and raises the temperature of buffer materials in the near field of radioactive waste repository. However, the buffer temperature must be kept below $100^{\circ}C$ according to the safety regulation. Usually, the temperature can be controlled by variation of the canister interdistance. However, KAERI has modelled thermal analysis under the boundary condition, where the waste canisters are in direct contact with each other. Therefore, a reliable temperature analysis in the disposal system may fail because of unknown thermal resistence values caused by the spatial gap between waste canisters. In the present work, we have performed thermal analyses considering the gap between heating elements and canisters at the beginning of canister loading into the radioactive waste repository. All thermal analyses were performed using the COMSOL software package.

In this study, Chukwooki and modern data were compared using annual maximum rainfall event series. Annual maximum series for specified rainfall duration in modern frequency analysis can not be constructed from Chukwooki data, so the concept of independent rainfall event is introduced to compare Chukwooki and modern data. Annual maximum rainfall event is determined by applying the bivariate exponential distribution and the parameters estimated annually are selected. The results using the annual parameter show that the hydrological meaning of the parameters is related to the variation of annual total rainfall amounts. For the whole independent rainfall events, the total rainfall and the rainfall intensity of Chukwooki data are greater than those of modern data, and rainfall duration of the two periods is similar. However modern annual maximum rainfall events show different characteristics that rainfall duration is much longer, rainfall intensity is similar and the total rainfall is greater than those of Chukwooki period. The increasing trend of rainfall duration and total rainfall of the modern annual rainfall events may be regarded as the one of components of the long-term cycle.

Geochemical study on the rocks and minerals of the Gyeongju low and intermediate level waste repository was carried out in order to provide geochemical data for the safety assessment and geochemical modeling. Polarized microscopy, X-ray diffraction method, chemical analysis for the major and trace elements, scanning electron microscopy(SEM), and stable isotope analysis were applied. Fracture zones are locally developed with various degrees of alteration in the study area. The study area is mainly composed of granodiorite and diorite and their relation is gradational in the field. However, they could be easily distinguished by their chemical property. The granodiorite showed higher $SiO_2$ content and lower MgO and $Fe_2O_3$ contents than the diorite. Variation trends of the major elements of the granodiorite and diorite were plotted on the same line according to the increase of $SiO_2$ content suggesting that they were differentiated from the same magma. Spatial distribution of the various elements showed that the diorite region had lower $SiO_2,\;Al_2O_3,\;Na_2O\;and\;K_2O$ contents, and higher CaO, $Fe_2O_3$ contents than the granodiorite region. Especially, because the differences in the CaO and $Na_2O$ distribution were most distinct and their trends were reciprocal, the chemical variation of the plagioclase of the granitic rocks was the main parameter of the chemical variation of the host rocks in the study area. Identified fracture-filling minerals from the drill core were montmorillonite, zeolite minerals, chlorite, illite, calcite and pyrite. Especially pyrite and laumontite, which are known as indicating minerals of hydrothermal alteration, were widely distributed in the study area indicating that the study area was affected by mineralization and/or hydrothermal alteration. Sulfur isotope analysis for the pyrite and oxygen-hydrogen stable isotope analysis for the clay minerals indicated that they were originated from the magma. Therefore, it is considered that the fracture-filling minerals from the study area were affected by the hydrothermal solution as well as the simply water-rock interaction.

Hyperalkaline groundwater formed by groundwater-cement components and its reaction with bedrock in a nuclear waste repository were simulated by geochemical modeling. The result of groundwater-cement components reaction showed that the pH of water was 13.3 and the precipitated minerals were Brucite, Katoite, Calcium Silicate Hydrate(CSH1.1), Ettringite, Hematite, and Portlandite. The result of interaction between such minerals and groundwater sampled in Gyeongju area also showed that the pH of groundwater reached 12.4. Interaction between such hyperalkaline groundwater and granite was simulated by kinetic model during $10^3$ years. This result showed that the final pH of groundwater reached 11.2 and the variation of pH was controlled by dissolution/precipitation of silicate and CSH minerals. Groundwater quality was also determined by dissolution/precipitation of silicate, CSH, oxide minerals. Our results show that geochemical modeling of long-term hyperalkaline groundwater and rock interaction can contribute to the safety assessment of engineered barrier by predicting geochemical condition in repository site.

This study is characterized the groundwater flow pattern near crystalline site of Yangbook-Myeon, Gyeong-ju City, South Korea. From the time series analyses, groundwater level could be classified into 4 types reflecting the hydrogeological characteristics and rainfall pattern. The type I (DB1-1, DB1-2) may be directly influenced by rainfall pattern. The type II (DB1-3, DB1-7, KB-1, KB-2, KB-3, KB-7, KB-14, KB-15) may be influenced by rainfall event as well as groundwater flow through water-conducting features. The type III (DB-5, DB1-6, DB2-2, KB-10, KB-11, KB-13) may be predominantly happens in the crystaline rock mass, groundwater in this type flows through the minor fracture networks rather than direct effect of rainfall event. The type IV (DB1-8, KB-9) may be influenced by irregular variation of the groundwater level due to anisotropy and heterogeneity of crystalline rock.
