Objectives : The aim of this study was to suggest the optimal cut off for best, very good, good, slightly bad, and bad grades. Methods : The subjects were recruited from 4 areas of South Korea and 487 questionnaires were analyzed. The nominal and continuous self-rated health questions were used to reveal the optimal cut off and the Short Form-12 Health Survey questionnaire (SF-12) was additionally used. Frequency, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and ROC-curve analysis were used; the significance level was <.05. Results : Subjects assigned 15(3.1%), 90(18.5%), 237(48.7%), 130(26.7%), and 15(3.1%) to best, very good, good, slightly bad and bad groups respectively. The self-rated health score was associated with total Component (r=.563, p<.001), Physical Component (r=.520, p<.001) and Mental Component of SF-12 (r=.303, p<.001). The optimal cut off was 80.5, 70.5, 53.5, and 40.5 for best, very good or more, good or more, and under slightly bad respectively and area under curve was 0.898, 0.908, 0.945, and 0.908 accordingly. Conclusions : This study suggests that the self-rated health score and grade could be integrated with the optimal cut off.
To increase the device linearities and the breakdown-voltages of FETs, Al$\sub$0.25/ Ga$\sub$0.75/AS / In$\sub$0.25/Ga$\sub$0.75/As / Partially doped channel FET(DCFET) structures are proposed. The metal- insulator -semiconductor (MIS) like structures show the high gate-drain breakdown voltage(-20 V) and high linearities. The devices showed the small ripple of the current cut-off frequency and the power cut-off frequency over the wide bias range.
Sonic wave dispersion characteristics are one of the most important targets of study, particularly in estimating shear wave velocity from borehole sonic logging. We have tested dispersion characteristics using monopole and dipole sources. Theoretical dispersion curves were computed for tool-absent and tool-included models having the same physical properties but different diameters (including ${\Phi}520mm$, ${\Phi}150mm$, and ${\Phi}76mm$). Comparisons were made between boreholes of different sizes and between tool-absent and tool-included models. Between the tool-included and the tool-absent boreholes, a close similarity in dispersion curve shape was revealed for the monopole source, and a significant difference was shown for the dipole source. However, for the cut-off frequency, particularly in the engineering boreholes (${\Phi}76mm$ and ${\Phi}50mm$), a significant difference was observed for signals from the monopole source, but approximately the same cut-off frequencies were found with the dipole source. This indicates the need of careful choice of source frequency in monopole-source sonic logging, particularly in an engineering borehole. The results of numerical experiments show that cut-off frequency is exponentially proportional to the inverse of borehole radius, irrespective of the mode type and the presence of a tool, and that the cut-off frequencies for each borehole environment could be expressed as an exponential function, rather than the inversely proportional relationship between the cut-off frequency and the borehole radius that was previously generally recognised. From the direct comparison of dispersion curves, the effects on the dispersion characteristics of borehole size and the presence of the tool can be revealed more clearly than in previous studies, which presented the dispersion curve and/or characteristics for each borehole environment separately.
This paper introduces the fundamentals of the conventional LC low-pass filter circuit in the fractional domain. First, we study the new fundamentals of fractional-order LC low-pass filter circuit including the pure real angular frequency, the pure imaginary angular frequency and the short circuit angular frequency. Moreover, sensitivity analysis of the impedance characteristics and phase characteristics of the LC low-pass filter circuit with respect to the system variables is studied in detail, which shows the greater flexibility of the fractional-order filter circuit in designs. Furthermore, from the filtering property perspective, we systematically investigate the effects of the system variables (LC, frequency f and fractional orders) on the amplitude-frequency characteristics and phase-frequency characteristics. In addition, the detailed analyses of the cut-off frequency and filter factor are presented. Numerical experimental results are presented to verify the theoretical results introduced in this paper.

Microwave diagnostics method for plasma science and engineering is vigorous research area for its good characteristics such as high sensitivity, reliability, and broad measurement spectrum from low density plasma to high density. We investigate mechanism of microwave probes (hairpin, impedance and absorbtionf probe) and apply it for interpretation of full transmitted spectrum of cutoff probe. Mechanism of the spectrum having same key roles of I-V curve of Langmuir probe is not exactly revealed yet in spite of its importance. This study elucidates physics behind it using a circuit model and E/M wave simulation. Circuit model reveals exact cut-off peak frequency taking account of a collision frequency and a plasma frequency and it enable precise diagnostics of plasma densty from low pressure to high pressre. Cut-off like peaks have been obstacle for choosing cut-off peak is analyzed by E/M simulation and one of cutoff like peaks made by probe holder used for acquire plasma density with cutoff peak applying the hairpin relation. Furthermore, phase difference method for plasma density is conducted. This method uses a single microwave frequency source and it is low-priced.
The frequency in which noise energy is generated, that is, the point where the preceding vowel ends is the cut-off frequency. Thereupon, this study intends to examine the correlations between, cut-off frequencies, cut-off frequencies changed by the following vowel, and cut-off frequencies and nasalance score, of fricatives and affricates with the subjects of children with the cleft palate and normal children. The subjects of this study are total 12 children residing in Seoul and Gyeonggi area. Six are the children diagnosed to have the cleft palate and whose chronological age are more than six, and another six are the normal children who are also more than six and whose chronological age and sex correspond to those of the former. Each subject was presented with nonsyllable environment and sentence environment(50 environment) of fricatives and affricates. Regarding meaningless syllable environment and sentence environment of fricatives and affricates, children with the cleft palate had lower cut-off frequencies than normal children. As a result of comparative study on correlations between cut-off frequencies and nasalance score of children with the cleft palate and normal children, it doesn't show statistically significant correlations in both meaningless syllable environment and sentence environment of normal children, but it has statistically significant correlations in sentence environment of children with the cleft palate.

This paper presents a digitally-controlled filter calibration technique for biquad RC filter using self oscillation. The biquad RC filter is converted to a fully-differential ring oscillator by changing its resistor connections, where the oscillation frequency reflects the cut-off frequency. The proposed calibration circuit measures the oscillation frequency by counting with a fixed higher-frequency clock and then tunes it to a desired frequency with a digital frequency-locked loop including a PI controller. Because the proposed circuit directly measures the cut-off frequency of the filter itself and calibrates it with the small area digital circuits, the area and the power consumption are much small compared with conventional works. When it is implemented in a 65nm CMOS process, the calibration circuit except the filter consumes the area of 80um X 50um and power consumption is 443uA at 1.2 V supply voltage.

The microwave probe for measuring plasma density is widely used for its advantages: First, it is not affected by the reactive gas. Second, it can measure local plasma parameters such as plasma density, plasma potential and plasma temperature. Third, it is simple and robust. A cut-off probe is the one of the most promising microwave probe. Recently, Kim et al. reveals the physics of the cut-off probe but the effect of the sheath on the determination of the plasma density is not explained. In this presentation, for taking account of sheath effects on determination of plasma density from the cut-off peak, a simplified circuit modeling and an E/M simulation are conducted. The results show that occupation ratio of sheath volume between two tips of the cut-off probe and subsequence pressure condition mainly change position of the cut-off peak with respect to plasma frequency. Magnitude of relative voltage taken on the impedance of sheath and the impedance of bulk plasma can explain this effect. Furthermore, effects of gap size, tip radius, and tip length ware revealed based on above analysis.

A comprehensive short channel analytical model has been proposed for High Electron Mobility Transistor (HEMT) to obtain higher cut-off frequency maintaining the reliability of the device. The model has been proposed to consider generalized doping variation in the directions perpendicular to and along the channel. The effect of field plates and different gate-insulator geometry (T-gate, etc) have been considered by dividing the area between gate and the high band gap semiconductor into different regions along the channel having different insulator and metal combinations of different thicknesses and work function with the possibility that metal is in direct contact with the high band gap semiconductor. The variation obtained by gate-insulator geometry and field plates in the field and channel potential can be produced by varying doping concentration, metal work-function and gate-stack structures along the channel. The results so obtained for normal device structure have been compared with previous proposed model and numerical method (finite difference method) to prove the validity of the model.
The present paper studies the influence of the inhomogeneous initial stresses in the bi-layered hollow cylinder and it is assumed that these stresses are caused by the hydrostatic pressures acting on the interior and outer free surfaces of the cylinder. The study is made by utilizing the version of the three-dimensional linearized theory of elastic waves in bodies with initial stresses for which the initial stress-strain state in bodies is determined within the scope of the classical linear theory of elasticity. For the solution to the corresponding eigenvalue problem, the discrete-analytical method is employed. Numerical results are presented and analyzed for concrete selected pairs of materials. According to these results and their analyses, it is established that, unlike homogeneous initial stresses, the influence of the inhomogeneous initial stresses on the torsional wave dispersion has not only quantitative but also qualitative character. For instance, in particular, it is established that as a result of the initial stresses caused by the hydrostatic pressure acting in the interior free surface of the cylinder, the cut-off frequency appears for the fundamental dispersive mode and the values of this frequency increase with the intensity of this pressure.
