Large global online shopping malls, such as Amazon, offer services in English or in the language of a country when their products are sold. Since many customers purchase products based on the product reviews, the shopping malls actively utilize the sentimental analysis technique in judging preference of each product using the large amount of review data that the customer has written. And the result of such analysis can be used for the marketing to look the potential shoppers. However, it is difficult to apply this English-based semantic analysis system to different languages used around the world. In this study, more than 500,000 data from Amazon fine food reviews was used for training a deep learning based system. First, sentiment analysis evaluation experiments were carried out with three models of English test data. Secondly, the same data was translated into seven languages (Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, French, German and English) and then the similar experiments were done. The result suggests that although the accuracy of the sentimental analysis was 2.77% lower than the average of the seven countries (91.59%) compared to the English (94.35%), it is believed that the results of the experiment can be used for practical applications.
E-mail has indeed developed from 'a means of instant communication' to an indispensable part of online marketing. Therefore, companies need to implement consistent customer management. Communication with customers and marketing through e-mail is a powerful way of communication and adapting one-to-one marketing strategies to customer trends, habits and taste preferences. Since setting accurate targets is especially important in the fashion industry, e-mail marketing is the most effective way to communicate with customers and one-to-one marketing constitutes a very important strategy. In this study, I will analyze this powerful one-on-one marketing tool, particularly actual e-mail messages sent by an Internet Shopping Mall from June 12 to July 30, 2005, examine the effect of these messages on sales growth and analyze actual feedback received. Regarding e-mail read rates broken down by age and gender, 1 found that females in their late twenties recorded the highest rate at 21.66% and their contribution to sales growth was recorded at 3.5% From actual sales records, found that 28.10% of total sales were attributable to people in their late twenties, showing that the age group that reads e-mails the most also buys the most. Regarding feedback by e-mail title, e-mails from the 'Casual' category seemed to be the most effective, in that most of these e-mails were read. Also, messages sent on Tuesdays were read the most, according to the feedback analysis by weekday. Section e-mails were read more often than regular e-mails. Regarding the view rate according to the time e-mails were sent, messages sent to females in their late twenties at two o'clock in the afternoon were read by 20.93% of recipients, recording the highest read rate. By offering informative content and practical tips, visitors will be attracted to the site and generate site traffic. Therefore, we can conclude that sending e-mail messages can greatly contribute to sales growth and e-mail marketing is very effective. Also, in order to make e-mail campaigns more effective and improve marketing results, we need to analyze actual results and apply our findings in future e-mail campaigns. With this, we get successful marketing results.
A smart phone has been widely spread around world and makes people enjoy online shopping in any time and any place. Recently it also changes the distribution environment. O2O (Online-to-Offline) service becomes new normal due to its convenience of ease shopping of product and services. O2O service market shows steady and steep growth, It is reported that, however, 80% of the businesses has been discontinued within the first year because of unstable business models, customer dissatisfaction and distrust of service. Therefore, it is very important research issue to find out influential factors promoting continuous usage intention of O2O service. Previous study shows that it only considers online characteristics and lack of analysis about offline characteristics and social impact factors. The purpose of this paper is to find out continuous usage intention factors of O2O services by literature review, case analysis, and empirical test. A comprehensive research model and related hypothesis are developed and tested by using a structural equation, Survey was carried out among users who have used O2O service including payment service for at least once. Finally 611 samples are selected out of total 813 surveys. The result shows that the model is theoretically proved and 12 out of 17 hypotheses are accepted. The contribution of this paper is that it provides a new theoretical research model about continuous usage intention factors as well as practical guidelines about promoting continuous usage and growth strategies of O2O service.
As the Internet spreads, many people have interests in e-CRM and product recommender systems, one of e-CRM applications. Among various approaches for recommendation, collaborative filtering and content-based approaches have been investigated and applied widely. Despite their popularity, traditional recommendation approaches have some limitations. They require at least one purchase transaction per user. In addition, they don't utilize much information such as demographic and specific personal profile information. This study suggests new hybrid recommendation model using two data mining techniques, association rule and classification, as well as intelligent agent to overcome these limitations. To validate the usefulness of the model, it was applied to the real case and the prototype web site was developed. We assessed the usefulness of the suggested recommendation model through online survey. The result of the survey showed that the information of the recommendation was generally useful to the survey participants.
This paper presents a method for the multilingual product retrieval agent through XML and the semantic networks in e-commerce. Retrieval for products is an important process, since it represents interfaces of the customer contact to the e-commerce. Keyword-based retrieval is efficient as long as the product information is structured and organized. But when the product information is expressed across many online shopping malls, especially when it is expressed in different languages with cultural backgrounds, buyers' product retrieval needs language translation with ambiguities resolved in a specific context. This paper presents a RDF modeling case that resolves semantic problems in the representation of product information and across the boundaries of language domains. With adoption of UNSPSC code system, this paper designs and implements an architecture for the multilingual product retrieval agents. The architecture is based on the central repository model of product catalog management with distributed updating processes. It also includes the perspectives of buyers and suppliers. And the consistency and version management of product information are controlled by UNSPSC code system. The multilingual product names are resolved by semantic networks, thesaurus and ontology dictionary for product names.
In this paper, we developed a mobile new media solution that enables e-commerce shopping mall operators, band operators, and YouTube creators to create synergies in online and offline promotion by posting related video contents on the media in addition to their own videos. By providing videos in the field of the platform without directly searching for them, it is possible to provide users with a new type of marketing means that can promote their platform while providing interest and information. Prospective creators at home and abroad who produce video can upload their own video in addition to YouTube and afreeca TV, such as the open market for video, and use independent and free charging systems to manage independent customer relationship management(CRM), self-branding, and content management. It will be possible to utilize mobile-based new media equipped with a system.
The rapid growth of mobile-based online shopping and the appearance of untact business initiated by COVID-19 has led to an explosive increase in demand for logistics services such as delivery services. In order to respond to the rapidly growing demand, most logistics and distribution companies are working to improve customer service levels through the establishment of a full-filament center in the city center. However, due to social factors such as high land prices and traffic congestion, it becomes more difficult to establish the logistics facilities in the city center. In this study, it has been proposed the way to choose the candidate locations for the shared distribution centers among the space nearby the tall-gate which can be idle after the smart tolling service is widely extended. In order to evaluate the candidate locations, it has been evaluated the centralities of all candidates using social network analysis (SNA). To understand the result considering the characteristics of centrality, the network structure was regenerated based on the distance and the traveling time, respectively. It is possible to refer the result of evaluation based on the cumulative relative importance to choose the best set of candidates.
This study gathered basic information on the development of Jiu-Jitsu uniforms suitable for players in Korea. Detailed data were collected between December 20th and December 30th, 2022 on 21 selected brands sold in online shopping malls. For each, information was recorded on the production country, product type, price, colors, material, and sizing system. A total of 612 datasets were analyzed using frequency analysis, cross-tabulation, and Chi-square tests. Jiu-Jitsu uniforms were classified as either standard or limited edition. Limited edition uniforms were more expensive than regular uniforms. International brands had a higher price range than domestic brands. The most commonly used colors for Jiu-Jitsu uniforms were the regulation colors associated with the sport: white, black, and blue. Domestic brands were more likely to use non-regulation colors than international brands. The material used for the top half of the uniform was predominantly pearl weave, while the bottom half was usually ripstop. International brands used a more diverse range of materials than domestic brands. The Jiu-Jitsu uniform sizing system incorporated a range of sizes between A00 and A6. While sizing designations differed according to the established sizing systems of different countries, the sizes remained the same, as did the range of sizes available. Where size guides were provided, height and weight were used to help the customer determine the appropriate size. The dimensions of each size varied between brands. Overall, we found that international brands offer a more diverse range of Jiu-Jitsu uniform designs than domestic brands.
Customer product reviews have become one of the important factors for purchase decision makings. Customers believe that reviews written by others who have already had an experience with the product offer more reliable information than that provided by sellers. However, there are too many products and reviews, the advantage of e-commerce can be overwhelmed by increasing search costs. Reading all of the reviews to find out the pros and cons of a certain product can be exhausting. To help users find the most useful information about products without much difficulty, e-commerce companies try to provide various ways for customers to write and rate product reviews. To assist potential customers, online stores have devised various ways to provide useful customer reviews. Different methods have been developed to classify and recommend useful reviews to customers, primarily using feedback provided by customers about the helpfulness of reviews. Most shopping websites provide customer reviews and offer the following information: the average preference of a product, the number of customers who have participated in preference voting, and preference distribution. Most information on the helpfulness of product reviews is collected through a voting system. Amazon.com asks customers whether a review on a certain product is helpful, and it places the most helpful favorable and the most helpful critical review at the top of the list of product reviews. Some companies also predict the usefulness of a review based on certain attributes including length, author(s), and the words used, publishing only reviews that are likely to be useful. Text mining approaches have been used for classifying useful reviews in advance. To apply a text mining approach based on all reviews for a product, we need to build a term-document matrix. We have to extract all words from reviews and build a matrix with the number of occurrences of a term in a review. Since there are many reviews, the size of term-document matrix is so large. It caused difficulties to apply text mining algorithms with the large term-document matrix. Thus, researchers need to delete some terms in terms of sparsity since sparse words have little effects on classifications or predictions. The purpose of this study is to suggest a better way of building term-document matrix by deleting useless terms for review classification. In this study, we propose neutrality index to select words to be deleted. Many words still appear in both classifications - useful and not useful - and these words have little or negative effects on classification performances. Thus, we defined these words as neutral terms and deleted neutral terms which are appeared in both classifications similarly. After deleting sparse words, we selected words to be deleted in terms of neutrality. We tested our approach with Amazon.com's review data from five different product categories: Cellphones & Accessories, Movies & TV program, Automotive, CDs & Vinyl, Clothing, Shoes & Jewelry. We used reviews which got greater than four votes by users and 60% of the ratio of useful votes among total votes is the threshold to classify useful and not-useful reviews. We randomly selected 1,500 useful reviews and 1,500 not-useful reviews for each product category. And then we applied Information Gain and Support Vector Machine algorithms to classify the reviews and compared the classification performances in terms of precision, recall, and F-measure. Though the performances vary according to product categories and data sets, deleting terms with sparsity and neutrality showed the best performances in terms of F-measure for the two classification algorithms. However, deleting terms with sparsity only showed the best performances in terms of Recall for Information Gain and using all terms showed the best performances in terms of precision for SVM. Thus, it needs to be careful for selecting term deleting methods and classification algorithms based on data sets.
Consumers of e-learning market differ from those of other markets in that they are replaced in a specific time scale. For example, e-learning contents aimed at highschool senior students cannot be consumed by a specific consumer over the designated period of time. Hence e-learning service providers need to attract new groups of students every year. Due to lack of information on products designed for continuously emerging consumers, the consumers face difficulties in making rational decisions in a short time period. Increased uncertainty of product purchase leads customers to herding behaviors to obtain information of the product from others and imitate them. Taking into consideration of these features of e-learning market, this study will focus on the online herding behavior in purchasing e-learning contents. There is no definite concept for e-learning. However, it is being discussed in a wide range of perspectives from educational engineering to management to e-business etc. Based upon the existing studies, we identify two main view-points regarding e-learning. The first defines e-learning as a concept that includes existing terminologies, such as CBT (Computer Based Training), WBT (Web Based Training), and IBT (Internet Based Training). In this view, e-learning utilizes IT in order to support professors and a part of or entire education systems. In the second perspective, e-learning is defined as the usage of Internet technology to deliver diverse intelligence and achievement enhancing solutions. In other words, only the educations that are done through the Internet and network can be classified as e-learning. We take the second definition of e-learning for our working definition. The main goal of this study is to investigate what factors affect consumer intention to purchase e-learning contents and to identify the differential impact of the factors between consumers with purchase experience and those without the experience. To accomplish the goal of this study, it focuses on herding behavior and perceived usefulness as antecedents to behavioral intention. The proposed research model in the study extends the Technology Acceptance Model by adding herding behavior and usability to take into account the unique characteristics of e-learning content market and e-learning systems use, respectively. The current study also includes consumer experience with e-learning content purchase because the previous experience is believed to affect purchasing intention when consumers buy experience goods or services. Previous studies on e-learning did not consider the characteristics of e-learning contents market and the differential impact of consumer experience on the relationship between the antecedents and behavioral intention, which is the target of this study. This study employs a survey method to empirically test the proposed research model. A survey questionnaire was developed and distributed to 629 informants. 528 responses were collected, which consist of potential customer group (n = 133) and experienced customer group (n = 395). The data were analyzed using PLS method, a structural equation modeling method. Overall, both herding behavior and perceived usefulness influence consumer intention to purchase e-learning contents. In detail, in the case of potential customer group, herding behavior has stronger effect on purchase intention than does perceived usefulness. However, in the case of shopping-experienced customer group, perceived usefulness has stronger effect than does herding behavior. In sum, the results of the analysis show that with regard to purchasing experience, perceived usefulness and herding behavior had differential effects upon the purchase of e-learning contents. As a follow-up analysis, the interaction effects of the number of purchase transaction and herding behavior/perceived usefulness on purchase intention were investigated. The results show that there are no interaction effects. This study contributes to the literature in a couple of ways. From a theoretical perspective, this study examined and showed evidence that the characteristics of e-learning market such as continuous renewal of consumers and thus high uncertainty and individual experiences are important factors to be considered when the purchase intention of e-learning content is studied. This study can be used as a basis for future studies on e-learning success. From a practical perspective, this study provides several important implications on what types of marketing strategies e-learning companies need to build. The bottom lines of these strategies include target group attraction, word-of-mouth management, enhancement of web site usability quality, etc. The limitations of this study are also discussed for future studies.
