  • KEPCO(Korea Electric Power Corporation) has been management alone before some time. However through the electrical industry reorganization generation and KPX(Korea Power Exchange) were separated on 2001. A marketing and distribution part will be separated in the future. While many problem for appear in future. how to management for power system network is important. unfortunallity, electrical power industry is starting point right now. Thus, detail data is incomplete for this field and detail research for this field is required with distribution reorganazation. In this paper suggest for customer interruption cost compute method to establish a standard. The standard is need to security operation of power system network. The customer interruption cost compute method necessity of customer interruption cost compute method is minimizing process for total cost. As final total cost compute through the interruption cost compute, we can recognize investment point exactly. We cited foreign survey questions, because exactly matched survey questions for in the country circumstance is not exist. And process to survey performance suggest after modify for match in the country circumstance. Survey questions that suggested fer this paper are classified five categories. This paper suggests to detail survey questions and survey method before survey and suggest to how to customer interruption compute when survey data is ensured. Moreover this paper suggest to average interruption cost compute for residential customer using statistical method.

But the price hike in California makes changes in the electricity demand and pricing. In such environments. RTP has become an important role in Demand Side Management. Here the system configuration, advantages of RTP are described. Also the relationship between RTP and AMR is considered.

  • Reliability of electric power supply by power system becomes major issue as the electric power industry is recently being regulated. Also a change of environmental condition related to power supply reliability should be considered in the view of power supplier since the competition between energy-industries is strengthen. In other words, because customers may choose other energy source instead of electric power due to an expensive energy charge, enhancing recklessly the reliability of power supply might not be an essential strategy. So to effectively cope with this problem, it is necessary to perceive the reaction of customers against power supply reliability and interruption cost. This paper evaluates the annual interruption costs of customers by regional groups in Korea using a macro approach to cope with these internal and external environment. That is, the each ratio of customer's interruption costs to price of electric power charge is evaluated for public, service, agricultural, fishery, mining, manufactural, and residential consumption by every cities and provinces.

  • This paper presents the method of determination for optimal underground power distribution system in our country. To get optimal system, it is necessary to evaluate reasonably important factors such as installation cost, reliability index, customer interruption cost, convenience of installation and system flexibility.   • The smart grid is an intelligent electric power network in which a digital communication network is integrated into the existing electric power system. This enhances the efficiency of the electric use by supplying and controlling the electric power through the two-way communication between the utility and the electric customer. In this paper, to support the smart grid, a computer-based solution which collects the three-phase electric power data based on the LPT Communication is designed, and then its prototype is made.

  • In the paper, we summarize the result of the experimental research for the overload criteria of domestic distribution transformers considering the electric consumption patterns of customers. For the basic characteristic data of distribution transformer overload, the actual experiments are accomplished. The field data of loads are surveyed from sample transformers for analyzing the consumption pattern of customer load. The load data acquisition devices are equipped, and the algorithm of load pattern classification is applied. In addition to this efforts, various load pattern data. in past are gathered. Then the representative load pattern of each customer type in domestic is extracted. The final results of overload criterions are presented as tabular form through the results of experiments and survey are combined. The field test of the experiment results is peformed using the special manufactured transformers, which can measure both the load and top-oil temperature of transformer. Through this, we verify that the results of field test are similar to the laboratory one and the Proposed overload criteria can be effectively applied to the real system.

  • Demand side management (DSM) program has been frequently used for reducing the system peak load because it gives utilities and independent system operator (ISO) a convenient way to control and change amount of electric usage of end-use customer. Planning and operating methods are needed to efficiently manage a DSM program. This paper presents a planning method for DSM program. A planning method for DSM program should include an electric load forecasting, because this is the most important factor in determining how much to reduce electric load. In this paper, load forecasting with the temperature stochastic modeling and the sensitivity to temperature of the electric load is used for improving load forecasting accuracy. The proposed planning method can also estimate the required day, hour and total capacity of DSM program using Monte-Carlo simulation. The results of case studies are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed planning method.

  • A lot of conventional automotive components driven by mechanical power source are being replaced with electrical ones to comply with the demands of market and customer, therefore the amount of electric energy used in a vehicle will be increased continuously. The increment of electric power demand causes interest on new higher power system such as 42V Power Net, and furthermore necessity for development of energy storage device is highlighted recently. This paper present the design of the BLDC motor for electric air-conditioner in 42V system and compare with the characteristics of several type BLDC motor.

  • this paper proposes the operation algorithm of 1MW class Battery Energy Storage System(BESS) installed at the extra-high voltage customer. The objective of the proposed algorithm is to reduce electric charges during the operation of the BESS interconnected to power system. This paper simulates the electric charges in 1998 considering Season and Time of Use Rate and Power Factor in the assumption that electricity demand in 1998 is the same amount of that in 1997 and shows the saving of about 40 million won in the total electric charges. The results comparing the real electric charges of June. July and August in 1997 with that in 1998 show that the implementation of the proposed algorithm could significantly reduce electric charges during the operation the BESS.

  • IEC standards do not require to limit the earthing resistance of the concrete-embedded foundation earthing electrode which is installed to a specific value. However, in Korea the value of $5{\Omega}$ and below applies to the earthing resistance for a domestic customer whose receiving voltage is 22.9kV. This paper calculates the minimum area and volume of the concrete-embedded foundation earthing electrode in order to obtain a specific value of the earthing resistance when the electrode of the building's lightning protection system and that of its power system are interconnected. It also suggested the most appropriate method of installing the foundation earthing electrode, taking the electric characteristics of concrete into account.
