In this paper, a novel control scheme compensating source voltage unbalance and harmonic currents for hybrid active power filters is proposed, where no low/high-pass filters are used in compensation voltage composition. The phase angle and compensation voltages for source harmonic current and unbalanced voltage components are derived from the positive sequence component of the unbalanced voltage set, which is simply obtained by using digital all-pass filters. Since a balanced set of the source voltage obtained by scaling the positive sequence components is used as reference values for source current and load voltage, it is possible to eliminate the necessity of low/high-pass filters in the reference generation. Therefore the control algorithm is much simpler and gives more stable performance than the conventional method. In addition, the source harmonic current is eliminated by compensating for the harmonic voltage of the load side added to feedback control of the fundamental component.

This paper analyze the operating characteristic of MCCB due to the synthesize harmonic current. Four types of MCCBs, divided by the type of operation system and a principle of operation, tested with 200[%] of rated current. The test result nuisance tripping did not occur but the time delay characteristic of the hydraulic magnetic type MCCB is appeared. From the place where the synthesize harmonic content is high it is good the hydraulic magnetic type MCCB not to use.
This paper presents the results of investigating harmonic levels on medium voltage motors at loading conditions in air separation plant. The essential results of the measurements of the medium voltage motor harmonics are summarized in the values for the total harmonic distortion (THD). Motors loading case is used to assess the current and voltage harmonic distortions. Proper system analysis is important when adding a new motor starting and controlling the equipment. With the result of the paper it is possible to suggest the most appropriate starting and control method. Two medium voltage motors of air separation unit measurement results and simulations are summarized. Both current and voltage harmonic distortions are fitted by using a linear and exponential regression model. The prediction of THD values can be used for this kind of process for future planning by utilities.
The magnified current harmonics usually brings about various problems. That is, the current harmonics makes interference in the adjacent lines of communications and the railway signalling system. Furthermore, in case it flows on the side of power system, not only overheating and vibration at the power capacitors but also wrong operation at the protective devices can occur. Therefore, the exact assessment of the harmonic current flow must be undertaken at design and planning stage for the electric traction systems. From these point of view, this study presents the harmonic analysis and the modelling of traction power feeding system focused on the amplification of harmonic current.

This research is about the result of leakage current waveform about the situation of surface leakage current and environmental changes(Salt fog, clean fog and rain) by EPDM polymer insulators' amount of salt. The researcher presents the result of changing about fundamental harmonic, 3rd harmonic and 5th harmonic from starting point of supplying power to flashover. In this study, researched environmental affects (clean fog, salt fog and .am) about surface aging of polymer insulators and used frequency spectrum of leakage current waveform to develop the diagnostic technique of surface aging. When amount of salt contents changed, surface aging stage and the degree of aging (distortion factor) about 3rd and 5th harmonir waveform on low frequency harmonic wave. The distortion factor which is harmonic percentage about basic harmonic is important pointer to evaluate the surface condition of polymer insulators.

The active filter of current injection type is the device which eliminates the harmonics in ac line by injecting the harmonic compensating current into the ac side. And its harmonic reduction performance is entirely dependent on the control scheme of the current-fed inverter and the harmonic compensating current becomes the PWM wave by the inverter. This PWM compensating current can be determined by selecting the switching function properly which eliminates the harmonics up to any order with using no independent sources. The new injection current model is derived by the proposed method which is called the optimized injection method. The overall characteristics of the proposed method are investigated through digital computation and the feasibility is proved with experimental results obtained from the Z-80 microcomputer control of the active filter.

A method is proposed in this paper to determine the harmonic contributions of a customer at the point of common coupling. The method can quantify customer and utility responsibilities for limit violations caused by either harmonic source changes or harmonic impedance changes. It can be implemented in current power quality monitors and digital revenue meters. The method is comparison of measurement phase angles between harmonic voltage and current. The proposed method has been applied to the test system. The study results have indicated the accuracy of harmonic injection and emission for customer and utility.
Recently, according to the spread of semiconductor applied technology like motor speed control contrivance, power conversion installation and so on, harmonic ingredients occurred in switching operation flow into a distribution system and increase voltage distortion of distribution system and bring on obstacles like damage, lowering of capability, false operation and so on of various electrical installation. So, in order to consider a countermeasure to limit occurrence quantity of harmonic source, harmonic interception and others, precision measurement and analysis on voltage, current, power, power factor, the each ingredient of harmonic order, the percentage of total harmonic distortion and so forth are needed. In this paper monitoring system to measure and analyze power quality connected with power harmonics was developed and it's performance is verified by measuring and analyzing three-phase voltage and current of R, S, T in the three-phase and four-wire system using the developed measurement system.
Three-phase four-wire electrical distribution systems are widely employed in manufacturing plants, commercial and residential buildings Due to the nonlinear loads connected to the distribution system, the neutral conductor carries excessive harmonic currents even under balanced loading since the triplen harmonics in phase currents do not cancel each other This may result in wiring failure of the neutral conductor and overloading of the distribution transformer In response to these concerns, a cost-effective neutral current harmonic suppressor system has been proposed. This paper proposes an improved control method for the harmonic suppressor system under unbalanced load conditions The proposed control method compensates for only the harmonic components in the neutral conductor, and the zero-sequence fundamental component due to unbalanced loading is prevented from flowing through the harmonic suppressor system This remedies overloading and power loss of the system The experimental results on a prototype validate the proposed control approach.
