  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect that Chinese tourists' perceptions of beauty products and their friendliness toward Korean culture have on beauty tourism, particularly on Chinese tourists' intent to purchase, re-purchase, and recommend beauty products. Between the 10th and 21st of June, 2016, a total of 277 questionnaires were distributed in Seoul, Busan, and Daegu using SPSS 21.0. Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was undertaken to test the reliability of the questions and an analysis of the frequency, factors, t-test, and Sobel test used in the study. Korean beauty was derived from two factors: "product favorability" and "product excellence and credibility." Product favorability had a significant effect on the intent to purchase, as did participants' friendliness toward Korean culture. Re-purchases and the intent to recommend beauty products were also significantly affected. In the relationship between the perception of beauty products and the intent to purchase, the study revealed partial mediation effects of the participants' friendliness toward Korean culture on product favorability and complete mediation effects on product excellence and credibility. Friendliness toward Korean culture had partially mediated the effect that product favorability had on the intent to re-purchase and recommend. Tourists' friendliness toward Korean culture had complete mediation on the effect that product excellence and credibility had on the intent to re-purchase and recommend. According to the Gender Equality and Family Act, the difference between buying and selling beauty depends on the difference between purchase and intentions. Friendliness toward Korean culture has become an important variable thanks to product superiority and reliability.

  • For the study on the Latin American culture reflected in fashion designs since 2000, the applications of Latin American culture shown in the four major collections from 2000 S/S to 2005 F/W (110 pieces) and some African designers' collections (157 pieces) have been analyzed and compared in three categories - forms, patterns and accessories. First, in the formal application of traditional clothes, the traditional elements of Indio culture are utilized in both the four major collections (76.8%) and the Latin American designers' collection (77.1%). Quechquemitl, the traditional Indio clothes are utilized in various forms in the four major collections, while the Latin American designers adopt various forms of traditional clothes, such as quechquemitl, camisa and pollera. Second, in the textile design, the patterns from Indio's traditional textile design are utilized in both the four major collections (68.7%) and the Latin American designers's collections (5.6%). The remarkable difference between the Latin American designers and the western designers is that the former like to mix the simple and primitive Indio culture with the colorful Iberian culture, and to utilize various patterns of feather, which is an important symbol in the traditional culture, expressing tradition in the modern touch. On the other hand, the western designers change the primitive and handcraft feel of Indio patterns into colorful ones, or mix the colorful Spanish-style flower patterns with primitive and passionate feel. Third, simple and handcraft feel of Indio accessories are utilized in modern fashion in both the four major collections and the Latin American designers' collections. The most remarkable difference between the two group of designers' collections is that various feather patterns are used in Latin American designers' collection, while the accessories reminding of relics of Maya and Inca are widely used in the four major collections.

  • Melosira nummuloides (KNU-HAPCC-101), which is a biological resource for fucoxanthin extraction, was separated from single cells, and optimal growth conditions were derived according to temperature, salinity, light intensity, light emitting diode, N:P ratio of culture medium, and dilution ratio of culture medium. These parameters were assessed to ascertain the best culture conditions for the most economical and efficient indoor mass production. The specific growth rate was the highest at 25℃ in temperature, but there was no significant difference between 15℃ and 20℃. M. nummuloides died at 0 psu in salinity, and the specific growth rate was the highest at 30 psu in respect to salinity. The light intensity was similar in all experimental groups except for 5 µmol photons m-2 s-2. The maximum biomass and specific growth rate in the light-emitting diode experiment were revealed at the red wavelength, but the concentration of chlorophyll-a was the lowest at the red wavelength whereas the white wavelength produced the highest chlorophyll-a concentration. In the experiment according to the ratio of nitrogen and phosphorus (N:P) based on the f/2 culture medium, the growth rate was significantly higher in the 15:1 to 50:1 ratio range. The growth rate according to the dilution concentration of the f/2 culture medium was the highest in the f/2 culture medium, but did not show a significant difference from the f/4 culture medium. M. nummuloides can be mass-cultured under conditions of a temperature of 15-25℃, a salinity of 15-35 psu, light intensity of 25-150 µmol photons m-2 s-2, and f/4 media concentration level with an N:P ratio 15:1 or more. Based on the data of this study, it is expected that fucoxanthin can be produced in a highly efficient manner through the development of a mass culture system.
