  • In order to prevent the environmental pollution nowadays, the mobile device for one person of cruiser board not used with the fossil oil has been noticed. This study aims to analyze the property of cruiser board due to the shape by carrying out the structural analysis for the safe design of cruiser board. Two models of the existing cruiser board and the cruiser board with new configuration are designed. As the structural analysis was carried out by using the finite element analysis program, the durability by deformation, stress and fatigue life was investigated. In the study result, the model of cruiser board with new configuration has the maximum deformation of 0.000971mm, the maximum stress of 0.936MPa and the fatigue life from 1827.7Cycle to $1.887{\times}105Cycle$. As all study result values at the new model became better than the existing model, the new model was seen to become more adequate at using than the existing model. This study result can be contributed to the safer and durable design of cruiser board. And it is possible to be grafted onto the convergence technique at design and show the esthetic sense.

  • The cruiser trip which can have various experiences in a short time is growing as the best tourism package because there is less leisure time in contrast of the increased income in 21C. in other words, as the demand of the tourist goes up, the number of ships built newly is increasing. The order of the ship keeping first and second rank in Korea has arranged a long-term strategy in order to get into the global market with the cruiser with the high value added. They also set the objective related to the cruiser design and skillful construction work. We need to observe the change and trend of the cruiser with a care at this time when the cruiser industry is launched out. In this study, the cruiser industry is divided by four periods: the spring time, the depressed time, the developing time and the peak time, on the basis of the trend of the development and the change of space structure. In addition, it was analyzed in this study that there were the various trends such as the ratio, the structure and the type of the space as well as the interior plan in the passenger's residential place The aim of this study is to present the fundamental material about the interior plan to prepare for building the domestic cruisers in a foreseeable future.

  • The purpose of this study is to measure and evaluate the thermal conditions of large cruiser's cabin. As the result of this study, followings are cleared. The air volume supplied to the 2 types of cabins is quite diffenrent. Temperature differences in the Room A which is located A deck and supplied enough air volume is stable all around the cabin. But Room B which is located B deck and supplied comparatively small air volume has temperature distribution problems, like time-dependent differences, vertical differences. To serve more comfort and productivity of Room B, it is strongly recommended to do a T.A.B.(Testing, Adjusting and Balancing) for more air volume and/or to design new air flow path to make air stay longer.

  • In this paper a modern sailing boat for our costal area was developed by using the traditional boat hull form. Main particulars of design ship were determined by using the statistical values. Hull form was varied from the traditional boat hull form which was selected by the previous study and modified to fit Lateen sail. The appendage, rudder and keel were designed for good performance of against wind sailing. The performance of hull form was examined and the results were shown.

  • A Korean-designed cruiser class sailing yacht, based on the form of traditional yachts, has been developed. In this paper, structural design procedures for the yacht are studied. The scantling of structural members and loads is carried out based on the guidelines suggested by Australian Standard 4132-1993, the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Patran/Nastran finite element analysis is performed on models of the trial sailing boat, and from these results, the structural strength of the ship's hull is verified.

  • This study aims to identify the relations between seakeeping characteristics and hull form parameters for YTU Gulet series with cruiser stern. Seakeeping analyses are carried out by means of a computer software which is based on the strip theory and statistical short term response prediction method. Multiple regression analysis is used for numerical assessment through a computer software. RMS heave-pitch motions and absolute vertical accelerations on passenger saloon for Sea State 3 at head waves are investigated for this purpose. It is well known that while ship weight and the ratios of main dimensions are the primary factors on ship motions, other hull form parameters ($C_P$, $C_{WP}$, $C_{VP}$, etc.) are the secondary factors. In this study, to have an idea of geometric properties on ship motions of gulets three different regression models are developed. The obtained outcomes provide practical predictions of seakeeping behavior of gulets with a high level of accuracy that would be useful during the concept design stage.

  • Recently a modern style sailing boat suitable for Korean sea was designed through full three dimensional design skill by the authors. In this paper, based on this three dimensional hull and deck design, a production process of 31ft class cruiser sailing boat was developed. First of all, it was possible to make the digital mock-up for design boat. Through this mock-up and RP(rapid prototyping) modeling, an appropriate general arrangement of design boat was able to be determined at final. And also the female deck mould was able to be made by a 5-axis NC cutting machine. By doing this method, more higher efficiency and precision for sailing boat production could be achieved than before. Through this research the total process of design and construction for the designed boat was established.

  • Cruiser Dmitri Donskoi was constructed in 1895. During the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905), she was damaged in an attack by Japanese destroyers at the battle of Tsushima, and scuttled in the east sea of Ulleungdo, Korea Peninsula on the 29th May 1905. In 2003, Dmitri Donskoi was found at the distance of 2 km off the east coast of Ulleung Island and at the depth of 400 m. Archival research was performed as the preliminary study for investigating the sunken ship.

  • The present paper describes a preliminary design method by using the computer graphics for creation of the fore and after body profiles of fishing vessel. It is well known that the Form Parameter design method has some merits at an early stage of design, and the B-spline curve generation technique has some prior properties in representing hull form with the computer graphic. The B-spline curve generation technique combined with the form parameter design method is employed to generate the profiles of fishing vessel. For fore body the stem profiles with bulbous bulb or without one are considered. And for after body the stern profiles of cruiser type and the transom type are generated with stern bulb or with shoe piece. Several examples will shown.

  • The hydrodynamic effect of appendages for high-speed passenger vessels, such as Ro-Pax, Ro-Ro and cruiser vessels, is very severe and, therefore, it is essential to carry out the design of appendages for high-speed passenger vessels from the preliminary design stage to the final detail design stage through a full survey of the reference vessels together with sufficient technical investigation. Otherwise, many problems would be caused by mismatches between the appendages and the hull form. This paper investigates the design characteristics of some appendages, such as the side thruster, the shaft-strut, and the stern wedge, based on the design experience accumulated at Samsung, on CFD, and on model test results for high-speed passenger vessels. Further to this investigation, some practical and valuable design guidelines for such appendages are suggested.
