  • Objectives : To identify the association between cross-sectional area of lumbar regional muscle and stability(ST), center of pressure(COP) assessed by tetrax. Methods : Patients(n=55) who had taken L-SPINE MRI and Tetrax(Sunlight, Israel) were analyzed retrospectively. To evaluate the cross-sectional area of lumbar regional muscle, L-SPINE MRI was used. Data of ST, COP were accumulated by using dynamic equilibrium analysis by Tetrax. Of the lumbar regional muscles, the Psoas muscles and the Paraspinalis muscles were examined. Using Pearson correlation, we analyzed COP, ST and the difference between the cross-sectional area of lumbar regional muscles. Results : The variance of cross-sectional area of both sides of Psoas muscle and COP had moderate positive correlation(r=0.621). Between variance of cross-sectional area of both sides of Paraspinalis and lumbar regional muscle and COP there was low positive correlation(r=0.287, r=0.329) ST also had low correlation with variance of cross-sectional area of both sides of Psoas muscle. Conclusion : The variance of cross-sectional area between both sides of Psoas muscle had moderate correlation with COP.

  • Purpose - Low fertility rate is a serious problem, and this study analyzes factors affecting total fertility rate using panel data from 16 metropolitan cities and provinces in Korea from 2000 to 2022. Design/methodology/approach - Estimating the SAR model considering the weak cross-sectional dependence that exists in variables related to the regional total fertility rate, and using the DKSE estimation method considering the strong cross-sectional dependence. Findings - Estimation results considering weak and strong cross-sectional dependence were similar, confirming the robustness of the results. Female labor force participation rate has a positive effect on total fertility rate, and employment rate has no effect. However, the interaction term is a negative (-) sign. Crude marriage rate has a positive effect on total fertility rate, and apartment price has a slightly positive effect. Environmental factor has no effect, and policy factor has a negative effect. Research implications or Originality - In order for an increase in the female labor force participation rate to lead to an increase in the total fertility rate, qualitative improvements in female employment must be made. Financial investment policies for childbirth must increase their effectiveness. The problem of low fertility rate requires not only population policy but also social, economic, cultural, environmental, and policy conditions to be considered.

  • Purpose - This paper explores whether overnight returns measured from the last closing price to today's opening price explain the cross-section of stock returns. Design/methodology/approach - This study is conducted using the Korean stock market data from 1998 to 2018, obtained from DataGuide database. The analysis begins with portfolio-level tests, followed by firm-level cross-sectional regressions. Findings - First, when decile portfolios sorted on the daily average of overnight returns in the previous months, the highest decile portfolio exhibits a significant negative risk-adjusted return. This suggests that stocks with higher average overnight returns are temporarily overvalued due to buying pressure from investors. Second, at least 6 months of persistence exists in average overnight returns, which is in line with the results reported by Barber, Odean and Zhu (2009) that investor sentiment persists over several weeks. Finally, Fama-MacBeth cross-sectional regression of expected returns after controlling for a variety of firm characteristic variables such as firm size, book-to-market ratio, market beta, momentum, liquidity, short-term reversal, the slope coefficient for overnight returns remains negative and statistically significant. Research implications or Originality - Overall, the evidence consistently suggests that overnight return is considered as a new priced factor in the cross-section of expected returns. The findings of this paper not only adds to finance literature, but also could be useful to practitioners in making stock investment decision.

  • Clothing shape is principally described in seven factors that are composed of clothing design, clothing material, clothing size, pattern design, sewing method and body motion etc. The aims of this study was to measurement out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body by using the image processing. The subjects for direct anthropometric measurements were 248 female college students aged from 19 to 22. The data were statistically analyzed by principal analysis and cluster analysis. The results selected one somatotype. for the out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body, there dimensional clothing shapes measured. and cross-sectional clothing shape obtained by the measurement was considered to be space wave form. The out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body was observed between the node number and amplitudes of clothing wave form, and node number was determined at the maxim of space-shape amplitude, and the space-shape amplitudes have related with aspect ratio of cross-sectional shape. • The purpose of this study was to analyze the proportion of gathered skirts using a three-dimensional measurement system. And in this experiment, we have attempted to accumulate three-dimensional data of wearing model and find out adequate methods for analyzing shape of clothes. The experimental design consists of two factorial designs. We established three different kinds of fabrics, ratio of gathers. The measurement tool for three-dimensional model was whole body 3D scanner(Exima-WBS2H). Analysis program used in experiment is RapidForm 2004 PP1 and Pattern Design 2000. Data analysis utilizes SPSS WIN 10.0 Package. As the results show, there were different effect of gather and proportion of shapes among the measurements of width, thickness and areas made by different lines of vision in cross-sectional silhouette. And there were difference shapes of section area at each part of gathered skirts between vertical-outline silhouette and vortical-plane silhouette made by gathering conditions. And also the cross-sectional silhouettes and vertical silhouettes were related to shape of clothes.

  • This paper tries to estimate price and quality effects in US cross - sectional fisheries demand analysis using 1987-88 Nationwide Food Consumption Survey Data. The estimated results support to the hypothesis of quality effects in cross - sectional prices, which had been already proven by Cox and Wohlgenant(1986). But Since all zero observations for the respective incomes, expenditures and quantities are eliminated for the ease of computation, it may yield inconsistent estimates from selectivity bias.

  • There is a lack of survey standard for cross-to-nature small stream. In this research, we analyzed cross sectional survey data of Sanggachun stream, calculated variant quantity of soil, and suggested a survey interval. Descriptive analysis of cross sectional survey data shows the trend of stabilization; mean interval of survey is 14.91m(min: 7.0m, max: 39m), mean cross sectional variances are $0.82m^2$(min: $-3.80m^2$, max: $8.11m^2$) in 2004, $0.24m^2$ (min: $-5.25m^2$, max: $8.55m^2$) in 2005. Calculating results of variance quantity based on data of 65 cross sections show similar trends in 15m, 30m, 45m, 60m but different with results of 75m, 90m with Post-Hoc Test in statistical verification. We suggested standard cross sectional survey length of cross section for natural style small stream as 50m based on fitting results of standard variation of erosion and cumulation quantity by survey interval.

  • This paper suggests a new experimental system and protocol of mechanical analysis for arterial cross-section research. So far, most methods of arterial studies have been focused on the deformation measurement in longitudinal and circumferential direction. The deformation in radial direction has been theoretically assumed by Poisson's ratio and/or the incompressibility of arterial wall. Also, the radial gradient of strains are neglected. In fact, the radial deformation and radial gradient of strains against blood pressure are important to be observed in the pathological point of view of artery. Proposed experimental system and protocol are to measure the deformation of cross-sectional artery. Also, this method enables to measure the deformation of anterior, posterior, and side site of cross-sectional area. It is meaningful to correlate the mechanically experimented data with pathological data of athroscIerotic artery.

  • Supercomputing performance demand forecasting at the national level is an important information to the researchers in fields of the computational science field, the specialized agencies which establish and operate R&D infrastructure, and the government agencies which establish science and technology infrastructure. This study derived the factors affecting the scientific and technological capability through the analysis of supercomputing performance prediction research, and it proposed a hybrid forecasting model of applying the super-computer technology trends. In the cross-sectional analysis, multiple regression analysis was performed using factors with GDP, GERD, the number of researchers, and the number of SCI papers that could affect the supercomputing performance. In addition, the supercomputing performance was predicted by multiplying in the cross-section analysis with technical progress rate of time period which was calculated by time series analysis using performance(Rmax) of Top500 data. Korea's performance scale of supercomputing in 2016 was predicted using the proposed forecasting model based on data of the top500 supercomputer and supercomputing performance demand in Korea was predicted using a cross-sectional analysis and technical progress rate. The results of this study showed that the supercomputing performance is expected to require 15~30PF when it uses the current trend, and is expected to require 20~40PF when it uses the trend of the targeting national-level. These two results showed significant differences between the forecasting value(9.6PF) of regression analysis and the forecasting value(2.5PF) of cross-sectional analysis.
