As digital systems continue to use components with faster edge rate and clock speeds, transmission of the digital information can take place many troubles. The increasing requirement for controlled impedance PCBs becomes both a critical success factor and a design challenge. Especially, the noise sources in digital system include the noise in power supply, ground and packaging due to simultaneous switching of signal, signal reflections and distortions on single and multiple transmission lines. This paper simulates the tracks controlled impedance with the test coupon. So, it can saves the design time and supports the economical PCB design.

The dymanic properties of the high-Tc superconductor journal bearings used in the KEPRI flywheel energy storage system was experimentally estimated by using the imbalance excitation method. The test reveals that the superconductor bearings have very low stiffness compared to that of typical oil film bearings with similar geometry and almost the same amount of damping as in roller bearings, which may not be helpful for the system to pass through the critical speeds. However, it was found out that the cross-coupled stiffness and damping terms were almost negligible so that the system could be more stable than the one using lil film bearings. Also with proper design of the rotor-bearing system and accurate balancing of the rotor, the high-Tc superconductor bearing is one of the most viable alternatives to the conventional ones due to its oil-free, non-contact running capability in a vacuum environment, which is literally essential for highly efficient flywheel energy storage systems.
In this paper, free vibration finite element analysis of axially moving laminated composite beams subjected to axial tension is studied. It is assumed that the beam has a constant axial velocity and is subject to uniform axial tension. The analysis is based on higher-order theories that have been presented by Carrera Unified Formulation (CUF). In the CUF technique, the three dimensional (3D) displacement fields are expressed as the approximation of the arbitrary order of the displacement unknowns over the cross-section. This higher-order expansion is considered in equivalent single layer (ESL) model. The governing equations of motion are obtained via Hamilton's principle. Finally, several numerical examples are presented and the effect of the ply-angle, travelling speed and axial tension on the natural frequencies and beam stability are demonstrated.
We consider a particle walking on the nonnegative integers and each unit of time it makes, given it is at site k, either a jump of size m distance units to the right with probability $p_{k}$ or it goes back (falls down) to its starting point 0, a retaining barrier, with probability $v_{k}\;=\;1\;-\;p_{k}$. This is a Markov chain on the integers $mZ^{+}$. We show that if $v_{k}$ has a nonzero limit, then the Markov chain is positive recurrent. However, if $v_{k}$ speeds to 0, then we may get transient Markov chain. A critical speeding rate to zero is identified to get transience, null recurrence, and positive recurrence. Another type of random walk on $Z^{+}$ is considered in which a particle moves m distance units to the right or 1 distance unit to left with probabilities $p_{k}\;and\;q_{k}\;=\;1\;-\;p_{k}$, respectively. A necessary condition to having a stationary distribution and positive recurrence is obtained.
In this study is performed a complex lubrication analysis of a herringbone groove air journal bearing, which shows a big potential as an oilless bearing for a color wheel used as an original color source for a large DLP projection television and rotating at a rated-speed of 10,800 rpm. The Galerkin FE and perturbation methods are used for a lubrication analysis of the bearing. The effects of groove number, angle and depth and bearing clearance on the dynamic stability of the bearing are investigated in terms of the critical mass, and its equilibrium positions, stiffness and damping coefficients are calculated at various rotating speeds. Results have shown that the designed herringbone groove air journal bearing is quite suitable as a support bearing for the considered high-speed color wheel in terms of the complex lubrication performances of the bearing itself.

In this study, two mathematical models are first constructed to analyze vibration characteristics of a gear train - spindle system of an NC lathe gear box. One is a lumped parameter model which is used for calculating natural frequencies of the torsional vibration, the other is a finite element model for analyzing lateral vibration and critical speeds of the spindle system. In addition, this study examines some possible resonance conditions such as gear mesh frequencies, 1X shaft rpm frequencies over whole operating speed range, and so on. The results may be helpful to design a machine tool gear box with low noise and vibration.
A turbo pump unit provides high pressure oxygen and fuel in a space shuttle main engine (SSME). This paper focused on rotordynamics, investigating its characteristics based on a numerical simulation of turbo pump finite element model. Speeds up to 50,000 rpm are considered, as well as the special problems related to elastic-ring, seal hydrodynamic force, shroud force and clearance-excitation farce. The rotordynamic prediction shows that the elastic-ring which is inserted between the casing and the outer race of ball bearing allows far an acceptable separate margin of first critical speed. Additionally, the results show that the floating ring seal, which have a peculiar ring, adds substantial stiffness and damping to the system as well as exhibits superior performance in terms of rotordynamic stability of system compared to the plain seal.

This paper describes a series of numerical simulations of colision between a 310, 000 DWT double hull VLCC (struck ship) and three 35, 000, 70, 000 and 105, 000 DWT tankers (striking ships) using LS/DYNA3D. Collisions are assumed to occur at the middle of the VLCC with the striking ships moving at right angle to the VLCC centerline. Striking ship speeds are varied to find a critical speed without failure of inner side shell, and the informations of collision force and absorption energy of each case are also reported. The validation of LS/DYNA3D in this study was made by comparing the result of numerical simulation of LS/DYNA3D with that of double hull tanker grounding experiment by the Carderock Division of Navla Surface Warfare Center (CDNSWC).
Recently, the large capacity draft fans in power plants had been changed to variable speed type to educe the power consumption. But the fan experienced the unexpected vibration at specific speed regions. In this study, the high vibration frequency of the fan was confirmed and the natural frequency of the rotor were measured and analyzed by FEM programs. It was analyzed that the vibration was caused by the resonance at the frequency, 30.7Hz. So, the rotor vibration characteristic was changed by adjusting the distance between the shaft bearings. It was conformed the high vibration was disappeared over the all operation speeds.

Dynamic responses of steel composite bridges for the Korean high-speed railway are analyzed by a modal analysis. The bridge is modeled as a simply supported beam structure and a vehicle of TGV-K is modeled using a moving load assumption. When the train is moving on a bridge, its deck shows resonance phenomenon at a critical velocity. However, it is observed that the dynamic response is greatly reduced at a special range of the span length. The results show that the reduction effect should be considered ill designing the railway bridges. A parametric study of tile dynamic response is performed for different span lengths, and specific train speeds train should be considered in designing the high speed railway bridge are suggested.
