A Study on the Design of Compact Polymer Bushing with Inner Control Shield (내부쉴드 구조에 따른 컴팩트한 폴리머 부싱 설계에 관한 연구)

  • This paper describes a study on the design of compact polymer bushing with inner control shield. In the bushing, a high electric stress occurred between field shaper and central conductor by the closely space. Also coaxial cylindrical shield has a great height along the axis to control an electric field. Consequently, all the potentials are raised axially along the field shaper and electric stress is concentrated on a part of the surface of the FRP tube near the upper end of the field shaper. In accordance, the field control can be achieved by means of the designs of such inner control shields. The floating and ring shield designs was decreased electric field concentration at critical parts of the bushing. The shield gaps is formed between field shaper and ring shield. Accordance equipotential lines extend through gaps. As a result, the resulting electrical stress are thus reduced in the range $17{\sim}23%$ in the bushing with floating and ring shield designs. Maxwell 2D simulator based on the boundary element method was also introduced in order to verify the reliability of the polymer bushing. The optimized design uses internal elements for electric stress grading at critical parts of the bushing.

  • A buncher is one of the main pieces of equipment in the medium energy beam transport line (MEBT) for China accelerator driven sub-critical system (C-ADS) Injector II. To focus the beam longitudinally and match the beam for the acceptance of the superconducting linac section, two room temperature quarter wave resonator (QWR) bunchers with frequency of 162.5 MHz have been designed as parts of the MEBT. According to the beam transmission matching of the MEBT and the geometric parameters requirements of bunchers, the unique mechanical structure and the main processing technology of buncher cavities and their couplers and tuners are described in this paper. The fabrication of bunchers and their parts have been completed and tested at high power, the test results agree well with the design requirements. These bunchers work well for about two years in Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

  • Recently, the automobile industry has continued to demand lighter materials owing to international environmental regulations and increased convenience. To address this demand, aluminum parts have increased in popularity and are mainly developed and produced through hot forging and cold pressing. However, because this method has low yield and low production efficiency, a new manufacturing method is desirable. In this study, the water capacity efficiency of an aluminum inner tie rod socket was investigated using cold forging that provided a high yield and excellent production efficiency. Mechanical properties were derived through tensile testing of 6110A aluminum materials, and critical fracture factor and process analysis based on experimental data were carried out. The optimized process was applied as a prototype using cold multi-stage forging, and based on the derived results, the formability, productivity, and material efficiency of aluminum inner tie rod socket parts using this cold forging process was verified.

  • This study was investigate difference between critical thinking ability and disposition for the development of convergence. Data were collected from Nov. 5th to 16th 2012, using critical thinking instruments. There was no statistically significant difference in critical thinking ability according to scholastic standards and problem-based learning classes but difference according to level of education(senior students were higher than the other grades), clinical practice education and completion of critical thinking subject. There was no statistically significant difference in critical thinking disposition according to anything. Upon examining the correlation between critical thinking ability and disposition, it was significant, although small. Therefore we should separate for evaluation into two parts; critical thinking ability and disposition.

A LightGBM and XGBoost Learning Method for Postoperative Critical Illness Key Indicators Analysis

  • Accurate prediction of critical illness is significant for ensuring the lives and health of patients. The selection of indicators affects the real-time capability and accuracy of the prediction for critical illness. However, the diversity and complexity of these indicators make it difficult to find potential connections between them and critical illnesses. For the first time, this study proposes an indicator analysis model to extract key indicators from the preoperative and intraoperative clinical indicators and laboratory results of critical illnesses. In this study, preoperative and intraoperative data of heart failure and respiratory failure are used to verify the model. The proposed model processes the datum and extracts key indicators through four parts. To test the effectiveness of the proposed model, the key indicators are used to predict the two critical illnesses. The classifiers used in the prediction are light gradient boosting machine (LightGBM) and eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost). The predictive performance using key indicators is better than that using all indicators. In the prediction of heart failure, LightGBM and XGBoost have sensitivities of 0.889 and 0.892, and specificities of 0.939 and 0.937, respectively. For respiratory failure, LightGBM and XGBoost have sensitivities of 0.709 and 0.689, and specificity of 0.936 and 0.940, respectively. The proposed model can effectively analyze the correlation between indicators and postoperative critical illness. The analytical results make it possible to find the key indicators for postoperative critical illnesses. This model is meaningful to assist doctors in extracting key indicators in time and improving the reliability and efficiency of prediction.

  • Job shop manufacturing environments are using the concept of cellular manufacturing systems(CMS) which has several advantages in reducing production lead times, setup times, work-in-process, etc. Utilizing the similarities between cell-machine, part-machine, and the shape/size of parts, CMS can group machines and parts resulting in improved efficiency of this system. However, when grouping machines and parts in machine cells, there inevitably occurs exceptional elements(EEs), which can not operate in the same machine cell. Minimizing these EEs in CMS is a critical point that improving production efficiency. Constraints in machine duplication cost, machining process technology, machining capability, and factory space limitations are main problems that prevent achiving the goal of maintaining an ideal CMS environment. This paper presents an algorithm that minimizes EEs under the constraints of machine duplication cost and factory space limitation. Developing exceptional operation similarity(EOS) by cell-machine incidence matrix and part-machine incidence matrix, it brings the machine cells that operate the parts or not. A mathematical model to minimize machine duplication is developed by EOS, followed by a heuristic algorithm in order to reflect dynamic situation resulting from minimizing exceptional elements process and the mathematical model. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the algorithm.

Reverse Engineering Procedure of Metal Brake Pad for Part 25 Aircraft (수송류 항공기용 금속계 제동패드의 역설계 절차)

  • This study derived a reverse engineering procedure for verifying the design identity of original parts and developed parts for PMA(Parts Manufacturer Approval) and STC(Supplemental Type Certificate) of metal brake pads for transport aircraft, which are critical parts among aircraft parts and equipment. In Korea, the regulations for reverse engineering procedures are regulated by the Parts Manufacturer Approval Guidelines, and in the United States, AC No. 21. 303-4. In the reverse engineering for the brake pad, the detailed procedures for each component were determined by selecting verification test items to confirm identity based on sample quantity, dimensional tolerance, mechanical property measurement, material, weight and volume characteristics for each component. In addition, as a result of analyzing the regulation of Korea and United States, in the case of Korea, it is necessary to establish technical standards for braking systems for transport aircraft and regulations related to flight tests.

Formation of Multi-Component Boride Coatings Containing V and/or Cr and Evaluation of Their Properties (바나듐 및 크롬을 포함하는 다 성분 Boride 코팅의 생성 및 특성 평가)

  • Boride coating applied on steam turbine parts of power plants has provided good particle erosion resistance under temperature of $550^{\circ}C$, but it isn't able to protect the parts effectively any more in ultra super critical (USC) steam turbine which is being operated up to temperature of $650^{\circ}C$. To ensure stable durability for USC steam turbine parts, an alternative coating replacing boride coating should be developed. In this study, multi-component boride coatings containing elements such as chromium (Cr) and vanadium (V) were formed on base metal (B50A365B) using thermochemical treatment method called by pack cementation. The thermochemical treatments involve consecutive diffusion of boron(B) and Cr or/and V using pack powders containing diffusion element sources, activators and diluents. The top layer of Cr-boride coating is primarily consisted of $Cr_2B_3$ and $Cr_5B_3$, while that of V-boride coating is mostly consisted of $VB_2$ and $V_2B_3$. The (Cr,V)-boride coating is consisted of $Cr_2B_3$, $Cr_5B_3$ and $V_2B_3$ mostly. The top surfaces of 3 multi-component boride coatings show hardness of $3200-3400H_v$, which is much higher than that of boride, about $1600-2000H_v$. In 5 wt.% NaCl solution immersion tests, the multi-component boride coatings show much better corrosion resistance than boride coating.

  • Numerical analyses of critical speed and mass unbalance response are performed for a 30 ton thrust turbopump. The stiffness and damping of ball bearings and non-contact seals are quantified under aerodynamic and hydrodynamic loads induced by a fuel pump and turbine. Critical speed margin and tip displacements of the rotating parts are evaluated using a three-dimensional finite element method. The results are used to ensure the soundness of the rotordynamic design using an one-dimensional transfer matrix method. A further study shows that sufficient resonance margin may be assured via controlling the stiffness of the rotor support by employing an additional elastic ring to the bearing support.

  • This paper presents a digital-controlled single-phase power-factor correction (PFC) converter operating in critical current conduction mode. The proposed converter utilizes the DC-DC boost converter topology for the PFC and operates the inductor current in critical conduction mode. Because the proposed converter is controlled digitally using a micom, its control circuit is simplified and the converter operates more effectively. This paper first explains the operational principles of the proposed converter and then analyzes the converter circuit. And this paper explains the implementation method of proposed converter with a detail design example, which is divided into software and circuit design parts. Also, it is shown through the experimental results of the prototype converter by the designed circuit parameters that the proposed converter has good performance as a single-phase PFC converter.
