안토니 가우디 작품의 트랜카디스 이미지를 응용한 니트디자인 (Knit Design using Trencadis Images They Appeared in Antony Gaudi's Work)

  • The purpose of this study is to apply the Trencadis images in Antony Gaudi's work to a design motive and thus provide a new concept for a knitwear design by combining double-knitted fabrics with patchwork applique, taping, stitching and quilting. This study examines the bibliographic text and precedent research related to Antony Gaudi and his works, and analyzes the historical background and formative and stylistic characteristics of Trencadis as it appeared in Gaudi's architectural works. Also this study also examines the characteristics of knitwear and knitting theory while exploring the formative elements and the combined techniques used in modern knitwear design through fashion magazines, medium images, and online sources. The results are as follows: First, Gaudi's work that applies a Trencadis technique has the characteristic of being creative, organic, and environmentally friendly. And in addition, its colorfulness inspires modern fashion design. Second, computerized knitting has been practiced in various ways and the fabrics knitted by both double-knitting jacquard and computerized knitting machines provide a new direction the creation of knitwear. A computerized knitting machine is especially effective for pictorial expression, and is suitable for showing the natural curve of the human body due to its sophistication. Third, as a result of applying a combined technique to the knitting of various fabrics, a combined or fusion design, which is a recent megatrend, is very effective for the design of knitwear while increasing its aesthetic value. Moreover, utilizing techniques that combine patchwork applique, taping, stitching and quilting will create higher value in knitwear. Lastly, with a project of applying combined techniques in the creation of knitwear, designers can become much more creative while taking their imagination much further.

그로테스크의 특징을 활용한 패션 일러스트레이션 연구 (A study of fashion illustration applying grotesque characteristics)

  • This study was initiated to add value to fashion illustration as a genre of plastic art, as its importance as a progressive visual art is growing. The research purpose is to analyze characteristics of Grotesque, a subculture that emerged from the challenges and problems of groups which deviated from social and cultural trends, and to develop fashion design illustration utilizing the characteristics unique to that subculture. As a method of research, this study examined the characteristics and expression methods of Grotesque, which appeared in fashion literature, referenced a prior study of Grotesque, and developed fashion design illustration using Grotesque as a based. The result of this study are as follows. First, the characteristics of Grotesque that are applicable to fashion illustration were derived as 'evil, aversion, playfulness, heterogeneity, and abnormality'. Second, the expressive elements of Grotesques, reflecting the beauty of ugliness, present a methodology for developing new and creative fashion design illustrations. Third, it was found that Grotesque fashion illustration is a visual tool that is suitable for expressing the problematic origins of human existence, values, alienation, and social chaos. Fourth, 'arthropod' motifs were identified as a suitable theme for extracting the newly integrated Grotesque images through the process of contradiction and confrontation between humans and objects. Fifth, the Grotesque fashion illustrations could be understood in terms of plastic arts, and could provide a gateway to rediscovering human dignity. Based on the finding, we expect that creative design thinking and development that combines the motifs of various themes and Grotesque's expressive methods will proceed more deeply and specifically.

해외 디지털 패션브랜드에 나타난 패션디자인 요소의 특징에 관한 연구 (Analysis of Digital Fashion Design Elements Focusing on Overseas Digital Fashion Brands)

  • This study attempted to understand current status of overseas virtual fashion brands and analyze attributes of common digital fashion brands. Based on brand analysis criteria of previous studies, digital fashion brands were analyzed for brand concept, price range, characteristic elements, and attributes. Digital fashion design elements of items, colors, materials, patterns, and effects were analyzed by collecting images of brands' digital fashion design products. Digital fashion brands could be divided into experimental and creative digital fashion brands and digital fashion brands aiming for popular brands. This study introduces a creative fashion collection that experiments sustainability and future value. It shares a new way of self-expression and a playful culture centered on the younger generation. In terms of fashion design elements, fashion items were similar to the existing fashion category, but included other accessories that reflected the lifestyle of Generation Z. Silhouette expressed a minimalistic futuristic image centered on straight silhouettes. Color showed a bold and modern color image through black and color contrast. Unique patterns reflecting the concept of the brand appeared, centering on abstract and geometric patterns. Regarding materials and effects, new elements differentiated from existing fashion design area, showing meaningful characteristics. Digital materials are developed and proposed for sustainability. Materials (such as metal, glass, plastic) and effects (such as weightlessness, flames) expand impossible senses in reality and enable new fashion experiences. This is a case study of digital fashion brands. It is meaningful in that it identifies characteristics and discusses their values and meanings.

통합예술을 토대로 조형원리를 적용한 아트메이크업 디자인 분석 (Analysis of Art Makeup Design Applying Formative Principles based on lntegrated Art)

  • 아름다워지고자 하는 욕구는 자연스럽게 미적으로 관심이 중시되고 그에 따라 뷰티산업도 크게 성장하고 있다. 그 중 아트메이크업은 색채와 표현을 중심으로 고정된 틀에서 벗어나 독창적이고 실험성이 있는 예술분야로 뷰티영역에서 발전하고 있다. 아트메이크업은 조형원리에 따라 통합예술을 토대로 한 패션, 건축, 미술 등을 모티브로 디자인 발상을 통해 조형원리를 적용한 아트메이크업에 대한 새로운 예술적인 형태 연구가 필요한 분야이다. 조형원리를 균형, 통일, 강조, 리듬으로 분류하여 그의 적용된 통합예술을 토대로 한 실질적 사례를 조경, 건축, 화훼, 회화, 패션, 인테리어로 구분하여 알아보고, 조형원리를 적용한 아트메이크업 디자인 분석하였다. 이에 아트메이크업 분야에서 조형원리를 적용한 메이크업 디자인 형태가 어떻게 적용되고 있는지와 창의적 영역으로의 확대모색과 아트메이크업 발전에 학문적으로 이론적 토대와 기초자료를 제공함으로 새로운 디자인 개발에 기여하고자 한다.

4차 산업 기술 기반의 예술 콘텐츠 연구 -인공지능 회화와 NFT 미술을 중심으로- (Research on art contents based on 4th industrial technology -Focusing on artificial intelligence painting and NFT art-)

  • 본 연구는 4차 산업기술의 혁신적인 기술인 디지털 기술을 기반으로 생성되는 예술 콘텐츠인 AI 회화와 NFT 미술의 융복합 사례를 분석하고 그 특성에 대해 탐구하였다. 21세기 삶의 패러다임을 혁신하는 디지털 기술은 창의적인 예술에서 활용되고 있고, 이를 표현 도구로 활용하는 AI 회화와 NFT 미술은 예술에 대한 인식과 수용 방식을 변화시키고 있다. 빅 데이터와 인공지능 기술을 활용하는 AI 회화는 대화형 일상 예술로 진화하고 있으며, 블록체인과 NFT 기술을 이용하는 NFT 미술은 경제적 가치와 문화적 가치를 지닌 메타버스의 예술이 되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 이러한 디지털 융합 예술의 다양한 양상과 가치를 탐구하고자 하였다. 연구를 위해 AI 회화와 NFT 미술의 대표적 사례를 인지 창의적 AI 회화와 언어 생성적 AI, 예술 경제적 NFT와 예술 문화적 NFT로 분류하여 각각의 특성과 내용, 의미 등을 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과가 디지털 융합 예술인 AI 회화와 NFT 미술 발전에 기여할 수 있기를 기대한다.

초등과학영재학생의 자기주도성과 과학창의성의 관계 (The Relationship between Self-Directedness and Scientific Creativity of Science-Gifted Elementary Students)

  • This study analyzed the relationship between self-directedness of science-gifted elementary students and their expression of scientific creativity in science-gifted class. A science-gifted program on the topic of Hydraulic Machine was implemented to 34 fifth-graders in the Science-Gifted Education Center of an education office in Seoul, Korea for four weeks. The self-directedness of the gifted students was divided into three types of 'General, Scientific, and Topic-Related Self-Directedness'. The products of the students' activities were assessed by using a scientific creativity assessment formula. Qualitative research, such as analysis of observations and interviews, was also conducted in order to identify characteristics that were not apparently revealed by quantitative data. The main results of this study are as follows: First, science-gifted elementary students' general self-directedness and their scientific creativity were significantly correlated (r=.373). Second, the students' scientific self-directedness and scientific creativity did not have a significant correlation (r=.294). Third, there was a positive correlation between the students' topic-related self-directedness and their expression of scientific creativity. Their self-rated scores (r=.420) for the topic-related self-directedness and the number of activity types associated with the topic had a positive correlation (r=.350). Fourth, the students were categorized into four groups according to the levels of their self-directedness and scientific creativity, and the result showed that Type HH (high self-directedness and high scientific creativity) was the most common type (15 students, 38.5%), followed by Type LL (low self-directedness and low scientific creativity) (11 students, 28.2%). Eight (20.5%) and five students (12.8 %) belonged to Type LH (low self-directedness and high scientific creativity) and Type HL (high self-directedness and low scientific creativity) respectively. Fifth, the classroom observation of the students in groups revealed that groups with more number of Type HH demonstrated better cooperation and performance. Sixth, the analysis results of the observation were almost matched to the results of the self-directedness and scientific creativity tests. The students with higher self-directedness demonstrated active class participation and good cooperative skills. The students with higher scientific creativity had a tendency to generate creative ideas more frequently in given situations. Seventh, dynamic activities were perceived as enjoyable and exciting by 76.9% of the students, but static activities that require creativity were regarded as interesting only by 23.1% of the students. Among the students who were satisfied with both the creative and static activities, Type HH accounted for the largest proportion (55.6%). In conclusion, factors such as students' interests, initiatives, and attitudes displayed through voluntary participations originated from their own daily life can predict the degree of scientific creativity associated with the topic. Also, when students were categorized into four types according to the level of self-directedness and scientific creativity, there was a tendency of active behavior in class, cooperative skill, and activity satisfaction. This suggested that we should consider self-directedness and scientific creativity in selecting the gifted, grouping them in class, and designing and executing programs for science-gifted elementary students.

MPTP-induced vulnerability of dopamine neurons in A53T α-synuclein overexpressed mice with the potential involvement of DJ-1 downregulation

  • Familial Parkinson's disease (PD) has been linked to point mutations and duplication of the ${\alpha}$-synuclein (${\alpha}$-syn) gene. Mutant ${\alpha}$-syn expression increases the vulnerability of neurons to exogenous insults. In this study, we developed a new PD model in the transgenic mice expressing mutant hemizygous (hemi) or homozygous (homo) A53T ${\alpha}$-synuclein (${\alpha}$-syn Tg) and their wildtype (WT) littermates by treatment with sub-toxic (10 mg/kg, i.p., daily for 5 days) or toxic (30 mg/kg, i.p., daily for 5 days) dose of 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP). Tyrosine hydroxylase and Bcl-2 levels were reduced in the ${\alpha}$-syn Tg but not WT mice by sub-toxic MPTP injection. In the adhesive removal test, time to remove paper was significantly increased only in the homo ${\alpha}$-syn Tg mice. In the challenging beam test, the hemi and homo ${\alpha}$-syn Tg mice spent significantly longer time to traverse as compared to that of WT group. In order to find out responsible proteins related with vulnerability of mutant ${\alpha}$-syn expressed neurons, DJ-1 and ubiquitin enzyme expressions were examined. In the SN, DJ-1 and ubiquitin conjugating enzyme, UBE2N, levels were significantly decreased in the ${\alpha}$-syn Tg mice. Moreover, A53T ${\alpha}$-syn overexpression decreased DJ-1 expression in SH-SY5Y cells. These findings suggest that the vulnerability to oxidative injury such as MPTP of A53T ${\alpha}$-syn mice can be explained by downregulation of DJ-1.

Mitochondrial Ca2+ Uptake Relieves Palmitate-Induced Cytosolic Ca2+ Overload in MIN6 Cells

  • Saturated fatty acids contribute to β-cell dysfunction in the onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Cellular responses to lipotoxicity include oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, and blockage of autophagy. Palmitate induces ER Ca2+ depletion followed by notable store-operated Ca2+ entry. Subsequent elevation of cytosolic Ca2+ can activate undesirable signaling pathways culminating in cell death. Mitochondrial Ca2+ uniporter (MCU) is the major route for Ca2+ uptake into the matrix and couples metabolism with insulin secretion. However, it has been unclear whether mitochondrial Ca2+ uptake plays a protective role or contributes to lipotoxicity. Here, we observed palmitate upregulated MCU protein expression in a mouse clonal β-cell, MIN6, under normal glucose, but not high glucose medium. Palmitate elevated baseline cytosolic Ca2+ concentration ([Ca2+]i) and reduced depolarization-triggered Ca2+ influx likely due to the inactivation of voltage-gated Ca2+ channels (VGCCs). Targeted reduction of MCU expression using RNA interference abolished mitochondrial superoxide production but exacerbated palmitate-induced [Ca2+]i overload. Consequently, MCU knockdown aggravated blockage of autophagic degradation. In contrast, co-treatment with verapamil, a VGCC inhibitor, prevented palmitate-induced basal [Ca2+]i elevation and defective [Ca2+]i transients. Extracellular Ca2+ chelation as well as VGCC inhibitors effectively rescued autophagy defects and cytotoxicity. These observations suggest enhanced mitochondrial Ca2+ uptake via MCU upregulation is a mechanism by which pancreatic β-cells are able to alleviate cytosolic Ca2+ overload and its detrimental consequences.

미디어기술 융합공연 사례분석을 통한 무대미술 전공 교과목 연구 (A Development of Theatre Art Major Course based on Case Studies of Media Technology-converged Performances)

  • 예술과 미디어 기술을 융합한 새로운 장르의 공연콘텐츠 시장의 확장은 전통적인 무대미술 표현범위의 한계를 넘어 창의적인 시공간적 표현을 자유롭게 하며 공연예술분야 내 블루오션으로 성장하고 있다. 이러한 시대적 변화와 요구에 따른 공연예술 산업 발전에 이바지할 예술 기술 융합 콘텐츠 제작이 가능한 융합 인재 수요가 급증하고 있다. 이에 따라 대학의 무대미술 전공 관련학과에서는 기존의 미술교육 외 시대에 상응하는 무대영상 및 다양한 미디어 매체 기술(가상현실. 홀로그램, 인터렉티브 모션센서)등을 공연예술 분야 시각화 과정에 접목시키는 역량제고를 위한 교과목 개발이 시급하다고 판단했다. 본 논문은 최근 10년간 미디어기술 융합공연 사례분석을 통하여 구체적인 기술융합 무대미술 전공 교과목 개발에 관하여 연구하고자 한다. 무대미술과 미디어 기술 융합교육 시도는 기존의 전통적인 무대미술 개념을 기반으로 작품성과 더불어 창조적인 시각적 표현의 한계를 뛰어넘는 융합인재 양성의 초석이 될 것이다.

시적 상징과 도덕과수업 (A study on a the poetic symbol and moral instruction)

  • 도덕과수업은 도덕이라는 추상적 대상을 구체적으로 표현하여 전하면서, 정서가 담재된 도덕적 의미의 발생을 추구한다. 이 측면에 주목하면, 도덕과수업은 예술적 상징 언어와 닮음이 있으며, 특히 시적 상징과 닮음이 있다. 시는 예술적 상징 언어의 전형적 양식이며, 시에서 추상적 대상의 의미를 수용 가능하게 표현하는 대표적 표현방식이 시적 상징이기 때문이다. 시적 상징은 시적 성찰을 언어로 표현하지만, 동시에 언어의 한계를 넘어선 형이상학적 의미를 전한다. 이를 위해 시적 상징은 불가시적인 형이상학적 원관념을 암시하는 가시적인 구체적 보조관념을 겉으로 드러낸다. 원관념을 은폐하고 보조관념을 드러내는 시적 상징은 동일성, 암시성, 다의성, 입체성, 문맥성, 전체성 등을 특성으로 한다. 이러한 특성을 가진 시적 상징이 시인의 창조적 상상력과 결합되어 개인적 상징으로 나타나고, 그것이 독자의 상상력과 결합되어 시적 의미로 체험된다. 시적 상징으로서의 도덕과수업은 이러한 시적 체험과 유사한 학습 경험을 제공하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해서 도덕과수업은 논리적이고 산문적인 설명보다는 도덕적 의미 발생이 가능한 상징적 형식으로 구성되어야 한다. 이러한 구성을 위해서는 지도요소를 구체화하는 상징적 매개체 찾고, 상징적 매개체의 도덕적 의미를 다양하게 검색하면서, 그 도덕적 의미에 대한 해석이 가능하도록 수업을 구성해야 한다. 이렇게 구성된 도덕과수업이 시적 상징을 닮는다면, 그 수업은 좋은 시에서 시인이 표현한 주제를 독자가 공감적으로 수용하듯이 교사가 표현한 교육내용을 학생은 정서가 수반된 도덕적 의미로 학습할 수 있다.
