Noninformative priors for the common location parameter in half-t distributions

  • In this paper, we want to develop objective priors for the common location parameter in two half-t distributions with unequal scale parameters. The half-t distribution is a non-regular class of distribution. One can not develop the reference prior by using the algorithm of Berger of Bernardo (1989). Specially, we derive the reference priors and prove the propriety of joint posterior distribution under the developed priors. Through the simulation study, we show that the proposed reference prior matches the target coverage probabilities in a frequentist sense.

Small sample likelihood based inference for the normal variance ratio

  • This study deals with the small sample likelihood based inference for the ratio of two normal variances. The small sample likelihood inference is an approximation method. The signed log-likelihood ratio statistic and the modified signed log-likelihood ratio statistic, which converge to standard normal distribution, are proposed for the normal variance ratio. Through the simulation study, the coverage probabilities of confidence interval and power of the exact, the signed log-likelihood and the modified signed log-likelihood ratio statistic will be compared. A real data example will be provided.

  • In this paper, we propose the test pattern generation algorithm of the embedded faulty MUX for the prevention of misdiagnosis of digital systems. When the system is partitioned with a large number of functional blocks, if the faults are exsisted in a embedded MUX then it can not diagnose the wanted observation of functional block. The proposed test pattern generstion algorithm can apply the MUXs that designd 2-level and multi-level both. Fault coverage becomes 100% and so it is no necessary of the additional fault simulation and the proposed algorithm that have the regulary and easily generated 2d test patterns. And we confirmed that the reduction of test cost becomes 85%, compared with the conventional segmentation testing scheme.

Multi-operation-based Constrained Random Verification for On-Chip Memory

  • Current verification methods for on-chip memory have been implemented using coverpoints that are generated based on a single operation. These coverpoints cannot consider the influence of other memory banks in a busy state. In this paper, we propose a method in which the coverpoints account for all operations executed on different memory banks. In addition, a new constrained random vector generation method is proposed to reduce the required random vectors for the multi-operation-based coverpoints. The simulation results on NAND flash memory show 100% coverage with 496,541 constrained random vectors indicating a reduction of 96.4% compared with conventional random vectors.

  • In this paper, we propose a design of the implementation for a search and rescue system for mountain climbers and evaluate the performance of the system. Search and rescues of people in emergency situations in mountain areas have been difficult due to lack of information about their location. In the proposed design, several small and commonly-available RF-based sensors, some amount of storage and processing devices are used. Infestations offer geographically intermittent coverage at high speeds. The proposed mountain climber tracking system use the directed diffusion scheme combined with infostation system. We also analyze the performance of the proposed system with NS-2 simulation package. From the performance analysis results, we expect that the proposed system will be very useful to early detect climbers' locations in emergency situations in Korea mountain areas.

  • A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a kind of wireless ad hoc network. It is a self-configuring network of mobile nodes connected by wireless links. Infostation is a lower cost and low power system that provides very high bit rate with limited coverage. In this study, we propose search and rescue system that combines MANET of climbers with Infostations. A climber shares location information of climbers with other climbers while climbing, and delivers the information to Infostations. This system is an intermittent network due to the mobility of nodes. From the system, we can track the locations of missing climbers. Ultimately, proposed system achieves low cost and reduces memory requirement using Infestations. We also analyze the performance of the proposed system by simulation. From the performance analysis results, we expect that the proposed system will be very useful to early detect climbers' locations in emergency situations in Korea mountain areas.

Double-Dwell Hybrid Acquisition in DS-UWB System

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of double-dwell hybrid initial acquisition in DS-UWB system via detection, miss, false alarm probabilities and mean acquisition time. In the analysis, we consider the effect of the acquisition sequence, and deployment scenario of the abundant multipath components over the small coverage of the piconet in DS-UWB system. Based on the simulation, we obtain various performance on the mean acquisition time by varying the parameters, such as the total number of hypotheses to be searched, subgroup size, and dwell time. Then, we suggest the optimum parameter set for the initial acquisition in DS-UWB system.

  • In this paper, we introduce the noninformative priors such as the matching priors and the reference priors for the common scale parameter in the Pareto distributions. It turns out that the posterior distribution under the reference priors is not proper, and Jeffreys' prior is not a matching prior. It is shown that the proposed first order prior matches the target coverage probabilities in a frequentist sense through simulation study.

  • This paper proposes the power management technology for stand-alone PV system to extend installation environment and coverage. The proposed power management technology in this paper can protect battery safeness from overcharge/discharge with keeping the proper SOC(State of Charge) and extend using time of system through estimation of operating power. The proposed power management technology in this paper is applied to Infra-free Variable Message Sign. And performance of power management technology in this paper was verified using simulation scenario.

  • A Satellite -aided search and rescue system is expected for its many advantage of global coverage, instantaneousness and low cost. In this paper, a calculation method is proposed , by which a position of distress can be determined with doppler frequency received through an orbital satellite. First, an algorithm and program is developed for calculating the position of distress with the received doppler frequency of EPIRB(Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) with the least square method. Then, position error caused by the drift of the transmitting frequency is evaluated. The evaluation is made by the simulation using NNSS satellite orbital elements and varying position of EPIRB, numbers of Doppler data and magnitudes of various errors. As the result, the availability of this program for a satellite-aided search and rescue system is confirmed and the bounds of expected positioning accuracy is clarified.
