  • The effect of plasma operational parameters for the determination of rare earth elements(REE) by means of inductively coupled plasma(ICP) spectrometry was investigated. While the increase in the flow rate of carrier gas argon enhanced the sensitivity and lowered the detection limit, significant ionization interferences were observed. The decrease in RF power increased the signal to background ratio. The observation point showing the lowest ionization interference was slightly higher than the position where the spatial profile of the analyte reached the maximum. The detection limits of the spectral lines commonly used for the determination of REE were measured and the spectral lines relatively free from spectral interferences were chosen.

  • A coupled analysis was performed between the riser to develop oil and gas in ultra-deepwater and the moored floating body. In general, the safety of the riser is conservatively evaluated by considering the maximum offset excluding the coupled analysis with the floating body. In this study, the safety of the riser was analyzed by considering the coupled motion analysis of the moored floating body. The riser is considered steel lazy wave riser (SLWR) applied in the deep sea, and the floating body is determined to FPSO. The methodology was presented on coupled and uncoupled analysis. The coupled effects were analyzed according to the incident wave headings in intact and damaged conditions of mooring lines. The tension of mooring lines, the motion of the floating body, and riser responses were analyzed according to the loading conditions.

  • In this theses, the procedure for finding the equivalent immittance of an n-line coupled structures is presented in terms of the normal mode parameters of the n-line coupled system. The above generalized equations can be applied to the various Coupled structures including directional couplers, DC blocks, bandpass/band elimination filters, and various other uniformly coupled filters. The design equations are based on a simplified TEM(Quasi TEM) mode. The obtained results and the definition of the scattering parameters for a general coupled line four port with arbitrary terminations are used to present the procedure to determine the optimum physical dimensions matching the given load impedances connected to input, output port. Multiple coupled rnicrostrip two-port with three lines circuit designed shows little discrepancy between the conventional method and this one. Four port with five lines were fabricated on teflon substrate($e$r=2.55) with its thickness h=l.588mm designed at the center frequency, 4 GHz. Their measured results are fairly close to the ones by computation.

  • New measurement method of coupled transmission line characteristics is described. This method presents precision calculated values of even- and odd-mode impedances and effective dielectric constants of mictostrip parallel coupled lines from the scalar quantities obtained by transmission coefficients at two different resonance frequencies. Measured impedances and effective dielctric constants are good agreement with predicted values.

  • This paper presents various methods for implementing 3-dB coupler using a broadside slot coupled lines and analyze its characteristics. The ideal coupler of the tandem structure is analyzed on the premise that both the reflection coefficient and the isolation coefficient of the first and second coupler connections are zero. However, since the reflection and isolation coefficients of most couplers are not zero, the S-parameter cascade calculation method was used to check how to the characteristics of the coupler change due to this. In order to confirm that these characteristics appear, a 3-dB coupler was fabricated with one stage and two and three stages of a tandem structure using a broadside slot coupled lines at a center frequency of 2 GHz, and it was confirm that the characteristics of tandem coupler change due to the non-zero reflection coefficient and isolation coefficient of the connection part of the coupler.

  • The transient responses on arbitrarily interconnected digital transmission lines are analyzed by an efficient node discretization technique. Since the proposed node discretization technique offers an efficient means to discretize transmission lines, the transient waveform at any position on the arbitrarily interconnected lines is easily predicted. Dispersive microstrip multiconductor transmission lines arbitrarily connected are analized for generality. The derivation of frequency-dependent equivalent circuit elements of coupled transmission lines have been carried out by the spectral domain approach(SDA). The effects of variations of excited pulse width on the crosstalks of the high-speed microstrip coupled-lines are also investigated. It has been well known that the crosstalk spike level is monotonously increased when the coupling length and effective permittivity of substrate are increased. In this paper, it is found that the variations of crosstalk level are not further monotonous as shortening the exciting pulse width toward several picosecond. The results are verified by the generalized S-parameter technique.

  • In this paper, the new type wiggly directional coupler which uses the fractal coupled shape in coupled sections is presented. A commercial software has been used to analyze this new structure and the simulation results are compared to those of the conventional wiggly directional coupler. To verify the simulation results, the new type wiggly directional coupler was fabricated with the center frequency of 15GHz. The measurement results shows that the coupling of new structure proposed in this paper is more than that of conventional wiggly coupler. The results in this paper also show that the fractal shape coupled lines in wiggling sections can improve the coupling characteristics in wiggly directional coupler.

  • This work proposes a novel coupled line coupler structure based on the asymmetric cascaded connection of coupled lines. The proposed structure can be designed in smaller size than conventional single section coupled line couplers. Also, the additional design freedom offered by the proposed structure can serve many useful purposes such as the output phase control or the flexible coupler layout for complex circuit routing environments.
