  • Rapidly increasing transnational migration can be seen as a typical process which has proceeded under macro-contexts of socio-spatial characters of origin and destination country and their relationships, shaped with global uneven regional development in the process of glocalization and development of transportation and communication on the global level. In order to consider macro-contexts of transnational migration, this paper emphasizes the concept of multicultural space and some key elements implied in it, that is, place, territory, network, scale (suggested by Jessop et al.) and spatial flow and difference. As results of questionnaire analysis of foreign immigrants' recognition of macro-contexts, this paper suggests some findings: that is, a high level of recognition of all types of foreign immigrants on global changes, the most negative recognition of migrant workers among 4 types of foreign immigrants on economic and social conditions of their origin country, a positive recognition of people in all regions of their origin (except few countries such as Japan) on international migration, and a low level of their recognition in all types on S. Korea's characters as their destination country.

  • This study aimed to investigate the preferences for the particular menu depend upon a purpose of the events and a time slot. The study set the 16 imaginary profile of 5 selective attributes by using Conjoint Analysis for the customers who ate out at the grilled beef restaurant. The result showed that most significant factors of preference were a sirloin, Korean beef, a traditional interior design, a rice menu and the amount of marbling, in that order. In addition, the study revealed a high level of relative importance depend on the parts of meat cuts and the most preferred factor of the general customers was a sirloin in selective attributes. Next, the country of origin was important. All events showed the highest preference in the parts of meat cuts like the whole consumer group and there was a high partial value in sirloin for the purpose of the events. However, the prime ribs showed a higher level of relative importance when the customers had light meals or they participated in conferences. At the preference analysis of the important attributes and the level of partial value, the most significant factors were a sirloin, a country of origin, a traditional interior design, a rice menu, and the amount of marbling, in that order both in lunch and dinner. In addition, the study found that the parts of meat, the atmosphere in the restaurant, the quality of beef, dessert, and the country of origin were significant in order at relative importance.

  • Since the Industrial Revolution has caused global change by using of a fossil fuel, a reckless and growth-oriented development. A global mean temperature since 19th century has climbed up 0.4~$0.8^{\circ}C$. Our country, afterwards, global warming has increased the temperature every season. After The Kyoto Protocol regarding a greenhouse gas reduction goal took effect, be situations that decrease of greenhouse gas was acutely required. Therefore, interest of utilization of the new & renewable energy is increasing everyday. In advanced research, we shows that at first divided a country to nine range by natural geography, and second executed Meteorological data analysis of recent 30 years considering level of significance by nine range. The results of advanced research are that the similarities are low because there are the regions that temperature deviation of the similar climate regions is large in winter season, and there are not characteristics of clear discrimination of temperature. This study shows that at first divided a country to six range by temperature range, and second executed Meteorological data analysis of recent 30 years considering level of significance by six range. The results of this study are that in heating load calculation of building, periodic temperature data management is required because facility capacity and cost are affected greatly by outdoor temperature, and temperature by climate range needs consideration of pertinent area. Ground temperature was assumed of the weather in region, the ground and soil. Lastly, we were able to know that establishment of climate region by temperature range can be useful policy making and plans of design of the horticultural facilities and architectures.

  • For the past decades, role of foreign direct investment has increased. Specially, East Asia and BRICs has experienced rapidly economic growth by FDI. Nevertheless, most of developing countries suffer from poverty. This paper empirically explores the impacts of FDI on economic output using a cross-country analysis based on data from 88 developing countries for the years 1990-2011. To this end, FDI is explicitly included in production function as production factor. Cross-country regression of income level is estimated with the country's human development, population growth, physical accumulation, and FDI as explanatory variables. Main finding of this paper is that FDI has a positive and significant impact on economic growth.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to confirm that the cross-country ski sprint course in PyeongChang, where the 2018 Winter Olympics course was to utilize wearable devices equipped with inertial measurement unit (IMU), global positioning system (GPS) and heart rates sensor. Method: For the data collection, two national level cross-country (XC) skiers performed classic technique on the entire sprint course. We analyzed cycle characteristics, range of motion on double poling (DP) technique, average velocity, and displacement of 3 points according to the terrain. Results: The absolute cycle time gradually decreased during starting, middle and finish sections. While the length of the DP increased and the heart rates tended to increase for men skier. In addition, the results indicated that range of motion of knee joint during starting and finish section decreased more than middle section. The errors of latitude and longitude data collected through GPS were within 3 m from 3 points. Conclusion: Through the first case study in Korea, which analyzed the location and condition of XC skiers in the entire sprint course in real time, confirmed that feedback was available in the field using various wearable sensors.

  • Risk evaluation approaches for bidding on international construction projects are typically partitioned into three stages: country selection, project classification, and bid-cost evaluation. However, previous studies are frequently under attack in that they have several crucial limitations: 1) a dearth of studies about country selection risk tailored for the overseas construction market at a corporate level; 2) no consideration of uncertainties for input variable per se; 3) less probabilistic approaches in estimating a range of cost variance; and 4) less inclusion of covariance impacts. This study thus suggests a three-staged risk evaluation model to resolve these inherent problems. In the first stage, a country portfolio model that maximizes the expected construction market growth rate and profit rate while decreasing market uncertainty is formulated using multi-objective genetic analysis. Following this, probabilistic approaches for screening bad projects are suggested through applying various data mining methods such as discriminant logistic regression, neural network, C5.0, and support vector machine. For the last stage, the cost overrun prediction model is simulated for determining a reasonable bid cost, while considering non-parametric distribution, effects of systematic risks, and the firm's specific capability accrued in a given country. Through the three consecutive models, this study verifies that international construction risk can be allocated, reduced, and projected to some degree, thereby contributing to sustaining stable profits and revenues in both the short-term and the long-term perspective.

  • This study has implications for expanding and applying the concept of reputation to a national level. Especially, the purpose of this study is to measure Korean country reputation, and we find out how foreigners perceive Korean country reputation using co-orientation model. According to the study, respondents were positively aware of the 'cultural entertainment' and 'openness of other cultural' factors and 'global citizenship' factors among the components of the county reputation for Korea. In addition, although the differences in national reputation among respondents' gender were not statistically significant, they showed statistical differences in some national reputation components by age group. Finally, the respondents looked at the statistical difference between Korean evaluation and Korean perception of the foreigners's view for Korean country reputation.

  • The inbound tourism market is recognized as a vital sector of the tourism industry today, but it is highly volatile due to each country's economic, social, and cultural variables. The causes of volatility vary according to the inbound country, and we intend to revitalize the stabilized tourism industry by minimizing risks. In this study, the portfolio theory was applied to derive the optimal combination for each country to achieve the minimum risk level's maximum growth rate. The number of inbound travelers and the average expenditure per person was simultaneously applied. As a result of the analysis, the best mix by country based on the number of inbound travelers was the UK, the United States, Germany, China, and Japan. Based on average spending, each country's best combinations were Thailand, Middle East, Singapore, Japan, Russia, Hong Kong, and Germany. It is expected to be able to establish a plan to operate the Korean inbound tourism market strategically.

  • Korea's country-of-Origin-Labeling(CoOL) system has been implemented since july 1, 1991. There is a variety of regulations and standards about the country-of-Origin-Labeling system in South Korea including the customs duty laws and foreign trade laws. For this reason, parties interested may find it difficult to operate the CoOL system, and furthermore, failing to understand those regulations and standards clearly. Therefore, we conducted a survey among parties interested and consumer to assess their level of understanding of the CoOL systems. The result of our study showed that they do not have a clear understanding of the CoOL systems. Due to a lack of sufficient understanding of the system possibly leading to violations of Country-of- Origin labeling(CoOL) regulations and standards, it is essential to consider an innovative and practical solution to resolving this issue.

  • ICT capacity building education in developing countries with poor infrastructure is a solution to help solve ICT gaps and improve economic performance. However, there is a clear difference between countries' geographical and industrial level in terms of geographical and industrial aspects. Therefore, it is necessary to design customized educational contents for each country according to the status of various industries in each country rather than uniform and unilateral ICT capacity building education. This should be followed by a basic understanding of the current situation. The purpose of this study is to identify the level of ICT technology and curricula for female students at Life University of Cambodia among developing countries, and to find out the subjects related to industry in that region and to propose policies for continuous operation.
