Propagation Measurements and Estimation of Channel Propagation Models in Urban Environment

  • Wireless communication is a telecommunication technology, which enables wireless transmission between the portable devices to provide wireless access in all types of environments. In this research, the measurements and various empirical models are analysed and compared in order to find out a suitable propagation model to provide guidelines for cell planning of wireless communication systems. The measured data was taken in urban region with low vegetation and some trees at 900 MHz frequency band. Path loss models are useful planning tools, which permit the designers of cellular communication to obtain optimal levels for the base station deployment and meeting the expected service level requirements. Outcomes show that these empirical models tend to overestimate the propagation loss. As one of the key outputs, it was observed that the calculations of Weissberger model fit with the measured data in urban environment.

  • The size of leisure space has been determined on the basis of the annual and peak day's number of visitor, turnover rate, and size per visitor. But the past models have no theoretical base and practical errors on the many cases. So, this study was carried out to build and test a new theoretical model for selecting a optimal size of theme park. The basic concept of the model building is the break-even point analysis of cost-volume-profit relation. That is, Gain-Loss of theme park is determined by marginal profit and fixed cost by size. YongIn Farmland was selected as a model test case.

Cost Optimization in SIS Model of Worm Infection

  • Recently, there has been a constant barrage of worms over the Internet. Besides threatening network security, these worms create an enormous economic burden in terms of loss of productivity not only for the victim hosts, but also for other hosts, as these worms create unnecessary network traffic. Further, measures taken to filter these worms at the router level incur additional network delays because of the extra burden placed on the routers. To develop appropriate tools for thwarting the quick spread of worms, researchers are trying to understand the behavior of worm propagation with the aid of epidemiological models. In this study, we present an optimization model that takes into account infection and treatment costs. Using this model we can determine the level of treatment to be applied for a given rate of infection spread.

  • This paper presents the methodology for optimal design of power grid for offshore wind power plant (OWPP) and optimum location of offshore substation. The proposed optimization process is based on a genetic algorithm, where the objective cost model is composed of investment, power loss, repair, and reliability cost using the net present value during the whole OWPP life cycle. A probability wind power output is modeled to reflect the characteristics of a wind power plant that produces electricity through wind and to calculate the reliability cost called expected energy not supplied. The main objective is to find the minimum cost for grid connection topology by submarine cables which cannot cross each other. Cable crossing was set as a constraint in the optimization algorithm of grid topology of the wind power plant. On the basis of this method, a case study is conducted to validate the model by simulating a 100-MW OWF.

이산화탄소 감축정책에 따른 OECD 국가들의 GDP 손실액 패턴 분석 (Comparing $CO_2$ Abatement Cost Patterns of OECD Countries)

  • CGE모형을 이용하여 우리나라를 포함한 OECD 국가와 중국, 브라질 등 18개 국가를 대상으로 다양한 비율의 $CO_2$ 저감량이 할당되는 경우 그에 따라 예상되는 국가별 GDP손실액을 추정하고 그 결과를 이용하여 각국의 $CO_2$ 저감에 따른 총비용곡선, 한계비용곡선, 평균비용곡선의 형태를 비교하였다. 대다수 국가의 총비용곡선, 한계비용곡선 그리고 평균비용곡선은 우상 향하는 형태를 나타내었으나 국가별로 실행가능한 저감영역이 다르고 또 각 함수의 기울기와 절편 등이 다르게 나타났다. 향후 post-kyoto 온실가스감축 의무부담방안 협상 시 온실가스 저감에 따른 각국의 GDP손실액 유형을 고려하여 우리나라와 비슷한 패턴을 가지고 있는 국가들과 공동으로 의무부담방안을 모색하는 것이 필요하다.

  • The industrial accident in subway of late is increasingly coming to the front as a serious problem of society because a scale of industrial accident is a large size, and powerfulness, while the percent of accident is decreasing as a result of industrial facilities with the largeness of equipment, automation, and high horse-powering. In this paper, a study on the estimation of accident loss prevention cost and risk analysis in subway construction is proposed as an alternative to the techniques currently used in the general construction projects safety. Then the concept of risk evaluation using a risk assessment model is presented to drive value of risk and numerical example for risk analysis. A means for this does grasp the importance of educational factor by way of analyzing the causes of accident through statistical data of labor department, emphasizing the necessity and the importance of safety education, being helpful to act safety by decreasing insecure activity which ranks the majority of accident causes with putting the education program, form, method into practice that are suitable for a place of business.

  • Life cycle cost has been one of the key criteria in design or purchasing of systems, particularly in the flying weapon system. Unexpected cost increase or system breakdown during the system life can be reduced by controlling maintenance cost A system should be designed for maintainability in early stage of product life cycle. The design should be insensitive to its environmental, organizational, and human factors in the stage of customer's utilization. This paper presents LCC as a controllable variable and also suggests a new control model for LCC analysis. The estimation of maintenance cost based upon maintenance scenario, design of maintainability followed by minimizing maintainability loss function in the beginning stage of design, and increase of useful life of systems are among the factors to control LCC.

  • In hotels or Food service industrials they make efforts on cost control. In the modern time how to control costs of food materials are perceived to be important even if there are many ways of cost control. Ideas that the cost of food material should be accounted have been change to that the cost of food material should be controlled. change of thought and the spread-over of computer give us the means of effective cost control over the processes of buying, controling, selling food materials. Even if stocked in good places, the food materials are changing in quality from the first time they are stocked. the storage control give us the least loss of this damages and make us to provide customers progressive food services in quality rather than the past. we can make plans to save costs corresponding to take various way of buying suitable to various situation.

2016년 서울과 부산지역 폭염특보 정보의 경제적 가치 평가 -폭염대책 비용과 환자 자료를 중심으로- (Evaluating Economic Value of Heat Wave Watch/Warning Information in Seoul and Busan in 2016: Focused on a Cost of Heat Wave Action Plan and Sample of Patients)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 공공부문에서 활용되는 기상청의 여름철 폭염특보 정보의 가치를 평가하는 것이다. 폭염특보는 각 지방자치단체에서 매년 발생하는 고온 피해를 저감하기 위한 대비계획의 행동 수준을 결정하는 주요 투입변수로 활용되고 있다. 비 시장재인 폭염특보 정보의 가치를 평가하기 위해 비용-손실을 고려한 의사결정모델을 수립하였다. 의사결정모델 변수인 비용과 손실은 각각 서울과 부산에서 2016년 사용한 폭염 대책 예산과 건강보험심사평가원이 제공하는 65세 이상 고령자의 건강보험 청구금액으로 설정하였다. 분석 결과 2016년 기상청 폭염특보는 서울과 부산에 각각 41.3억 원과 10.9억 원의 가치를 제공한 것으로 평가되었다. 또한 기상청이 폭염특보의 False Alarm (FA) 오류를 1회 줄이면 서울과 부산에서 각각 76.6백만 원, 16.8백만 원의 가치가 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 연구 결과는 공공부문에서 활용되는 폭염특보의 가치를 정량적으로 추정한데 의의가 있다.
