교정간호사와 병원간호사의 직무특성과 직무만족도의 비교 (A Comparative Study on the Job Characteristics and Job Satisfaction in Correctional Nurses and Hospital Nurses)

  • Purpose : This comparative study was designed to compare job characteristics and job satisfaction in correctional nurses and hospital nurses. Methods : The participants for this study were 96 nurses (46 correctional nurses, 50 hospital nurses). The survey instruments included Job Diagnostic Survey(JDS) developed by Hackman & Oldman (1980) and amended by Lee(1997) and Index of Work Satisfaction(IWS) developed by Stamps and Piedmonte (1978) and amended Park & Yun (1992). Data were analyzed using of means, percentages, $x^2$ - test, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient with SPSS program. Results : 1) Differences in job characteristics between correctional nurses and hospital nurses were not significant, but the mean score for correctional nurses' skill variety was significantly higher (t=-1.99, p<0.05) than hospital nurses 2) Differences in job satisfaction between two group were not significant, but the mean score for correctional nurses' pay satisfaction was significantly lower (t=-3.67, p<0.01.) than hospital nurses 3) There were significant negative correlations(r=-.544, p<.01) between correctional nurses' job characteristics and job satisfaction related to pay, but significant positive correlations (r=.331, p<.05) between job characteristics and professional status of job 4) There were significant positive correlations (r=.283, p<.05) between hospital nurses' job characteristics and job satisfaction, job characteristics and professional status of job (r=.530, p<.O1), and positive correlations between autonomy of job characteristics and job satisfaction (r=.522, p<.01). Conclusion : The results suggest a redesign of correctional nurses' job and improvement of outcomes. it is also recommended that job be done toward expanding and improving the reward system

대한민국 수용자 의료처우의 실질적 개선 (Substantial Improvement of Medical Care for Detainees in Republic of Korea)

  • The responsibility to ensure the health rights of detainees, particularly their medical rights, fundamentally lies with the state in all nations. However, in the correctional facilities of the Republic of Korea, these rights are currently not adequately safeguarded. Numerous detainees express dissatisfaction with the medical services provided and show a preference for voluntary external treatment. However, barriers such as prolonged application processes for external treatment and the requirement for detainees to cover their medical expenses present significant challenges. Therefore, the National Human Rights Commission of Korea has advocated for an increased medical budget in correctional facilities and a bolstered professional medical workforce to improve the medical care of detainees. Recommendations for improvements include: (1) establishing dedicated correctional hospitals for detainees, (2) setting up specialized correctional wards, (3) collaborating with military hospitals, (4) launching mobile medical buses for diverse specialties, (5) enhancing collaboration with public and private medical institutions, (6) increasing compensation for partnering external medical institutions, (7) improving the working conditions of medical officers, (8) safeguarding the defense rights of medical staff, (9) improving the working conditions of public health doctors from the Ministry of Justice in correctional facilities, and (10) pre-assigning public health specialists and military doctors to correctional facilities. By implementing these measures, it is anticipated that the quality of medical services in the Republic of Korea's correctional facilities will improve, reducing the demand for external treatments among detainees and ensuring their health and medical rights are realistically upheld.

교정전문가 및 교정상담자가 인식하는 출소자의 사회재적응 경험에 관한 연구 (A Study on Social Readjustment Experience of Ex-Offenders Based on Perceptions of Correctional Professionals and Correctional Counselors)

  • 본 연구는 교정전문가 및 상담자의 인식을 통해 출소자의 사회재적응 경험을 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 범죄학 교수, 판사, 교정시설 종사자 등 교정전문가와 한국법무보호복지공단의 교정 상담자, 총 18명을 대상으로 반구조화된 심층면접을 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 Krippendorff(2003)가 제안한 내용분석 절차에 따라 분석이 이루어졌다. 연구 결과, 출소자들의 사회재적응 경험과 관련하여 '교육', '심리치료', '취업 및 구직활동', '봉사 문화 여가 활동', '사회 국가적 지원'의 5개 영역에서 보호요인, 장애요인, 정책제언의 요소를 15개의 차원과 36개의 범주, 77개의 의미단위로 도출하였다. 연구결과에 기초하여 논의와 제한점을 제시하였다.

비행 청소년 교정교육을 위한 독서치료 프로그램 개발 및 적용 사례 연구 - P소년원을 중심으로 - (The Case Study on the Creation and the Use of the Bibliotherapy Program for the Correctional Education of Juvenile Delinquents: Focus on the Juvenile Correctional School at P City)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 비행 청소년의 교정교육의 일환으로서 독서치료 프로그램을 적용해 보고 프로그램 운영상 드러난 문제를 논의함으로써 교정교육 프로그램으로서 독서치료의 활성화 방안을 모색하는 데 있다. 연구 사례로는 P소년원의 재원생을 대상으로 독서치료 프로그램을 계획, 적용, 평가하여 분석하였다. 사례 독서치료 프로그램을 분석한 결과, 소년원에서 효과적인 독서치료 프로그램을 실시하려면 다음과 같은 점을 고려해야 한다. (1) 프로그램 참여자 선발단계에서 자발성의 원리를 적용한다. (2) 소년원의 정규 프로그램으로 계획되어야 한다. (3) 개인 독서치료 프로그램 병행이 필요하다. (4) 소년원내 독서(치료) 환경이 마련되어야 한다. (5) 소년원생을 위한 전문적인 독서치료 프로그램 개발이 필요하다. (6) 법무부와 국립중앙도서관, 지역의 소년원과 지역의 도서관간의 협약을 통해서 협력 기반을 마련한다. (7) 궁극적으로는 소년원 도서관이 원내에 설치되어야 한다.

피구금자에 대한 권리보호적 측면에서의 도서관봉사

  • Persons who are waiting for decision of the court concerning whether they are guilty or not after they are involved in the criminal case and detained in the special institution isolated from society, will desire to de found innocent and acquited or to be slightly punished. Inmates are the suspected persons and the accused persons who are detained in the correctional institution. They have the right to de assisted by lawyes in order to receive the favorable verdict in the court. However, the right of the poor and the ignorant, in reality, cannot be perfectly protected due to the imperfection and defect of the defense counsel system itself and its application. Therefore, as a means to guarantee the so-called access to the court, the fundamental constitutional right, the law libraries are established and the legal information services are provided to the inmates within the correctional institution in the advanced country such as the United States. In addition, the judicial precedent and the various kinds of professional organizations provide the managerial guide-lines for such libraries to enoughly collect materials and to provide the effective information services to the inmates. In order to furnish the management of the correctional institution of Korea with useful information, the legal information services, materials collected, and information service personnel of the law libraries within the correctional institution are minutely examined in this paper.

교정시설 급식 영양사의 직무만족도와 이직의향 (The Job Satisfaction and the Turnover Intention of Dietitians Working at Foodservice of the Correctional Institutions in Korea)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how certain factors influence job satisfaction and turnover intention of the dietitians working at the correctional institutions. A total 47 sheets of questionnaires (complete enumeration) were distributed respectively to the dietitians during the period from March 20th to May 18th of 2008. A total of 38 questionnaires (response rate 81%) were analyzed by using SPSS (ver. 19.0). The dietitians were more satisfied with coworkers ($3.63{\pm}0.10$) and supervision ($3.19{\pm}0.13$) than with pay ($2.97{\pm}0.09$) and promotion ($2.55{\pm}0.08$). Among the job burnout dimensions, cynicism ($2.58{\pm}0.09$) was rated higher than exhaustion ($2.47{\pm}0.10$), while professional efficacy level ($3.40{\pm}0.08$) was relatively high. The work dimension of job satisfaction was negatively correlated with exhaustion and cynicism dimensions of job burnout (p < 0.001), and turnover intention (p < 0.01), but positively correlated with professional efficacy dimension (p < 0.001). The co-worker dimension was negatively correlated with exhaustion and cynicism (p < 0.05) and turnover intention (p < 0.01), while the supervision, the pay, and the promotion dimension were not correlated with the job burnout and turnover intention. The turnover intention was positively correlated with exhaustion and cynicism dimensions of job burnout (p < 0.001). A stepwise regression analysis revealed that i) professional efficacy was a factor to significantly increase the work dimension of job satisfaction, ii) exhaustion and cynicism to significantly decrease the work and the co-worker dimension of job satisfaction, respectively, and iii) exhaustion to significantly increase turnover intention. The managerial efforts of the institutions could be focused on the job burnout factors to effectively increase the work dimension and the co-worker dimension of the job satisfaction.

남성수용자, 여성교정공무원에 대한 성적 고정관념적 인식, 그리고 그 영향의 검증연구 (Male inmates, correctional officers, gender stereotypes and male inmates' stress)

  • 이 연구는 여성교정직원들에 대한 남자수용자들의 성고정관념적 인식과 태도를 조사하고, 남자수용자들의 성고정관념적 인식과 태도가 이들의 교정시설에서의 적응문제, 특히 스트레스의 수준에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 경험적으로 분석하고자 하는 목적이 있다. 이와 같은 연구의 목적을 위해 전국의 교도소에 수감되어 있는 남자 수형자들을 대상으로 설문조사하여 수집된 219명의 데이터를 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구의 분석을 위해서 연구 가설 4개를 세워 각 연구가설에 따른 분석의 수행결과, 남성수용자들의 여성교도관에 대한 성고정관념적 인식은 그리 높지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이어서 남성수용자들의 수용생활 중의 스트레스의 수준에 여성교도관들에 대한 성고정관념적 인식이 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 남자수용자들의 전체 남녀교정직원에 대한 인식과 태도는 이들의 수용기간 동안의 스트레스 수준에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 남자수용자들이 여성교정직원들을 여성으로 인식하기보다 전문적인 교정직원의 일원으로서 남녀의 구별없이 인식하고 있는 것으로 이해된다. 이 연구의 결과에 대한 논의와 정책적, 학문적 함의 및 후속연구에 대한 제안 등이 결과와 논의에서 더욱 논의되었다.

Practices for Readiness of Future Specialists for Professional Self-Determination in the Information Society

  • Professional self-determination of the individual is a complex and lengthy process of finding and realizing yourself in the profession. The main goal of professional self-determination is clarified. The basic concepts of readiness for professional self-determination of future specialists in the modern information society are revealed. The following approaches to the consideration of the concept of readiness are defined: functional-psychological, personal, activity-based. Based on the components of readiness identified by the researchers, it can be assumed that the structure of professional self-determination of the future specialist contains motivational, cognitive and activity components. Self-determination is defined as a multidimensional process that can be considered from different points of view: as a series of tasks, that society sets for the emerging individual, and which the individual must solve in a certain period. As a process of step-by-step decision-making, with the help of which the individual forms a balance between his desires and inclinations, on the one hand, and the needs of society, on the other; as a process of forming an individual lifestyle, part of which is professional activity. A number of tasks of professional self-determination of a future specialist in the information society are formulated. Diagnostic practices for determining the degree of readiness of future specialists for future professional success are characterized. Practices are developed as a basis for creating an individually oriented correctional and development program to promote the formation of future specialists' focus on future professional success. Their task is to ensure control over the dynamics of this process, assess the effectiveness of this career guidance work. Practices are aimed at identifying the degree of thorough knowledge of the conditions for achieving professional success in the chosen field of activity among future specialists.

청소년 교정프로그램 참여경험에 대한 내용분석 : "길위학교" 걷기 교정프로그램 (Content Analysis of the Experience of Youth Correction Program Participation -Walking Correction Program of "Gilwi School"-)

  • 본 연구는 보호 청소년을 위한 교정프로그램으로써 일명 "길위학교"라는 프로그램에 참가한 동행자들의 경험에 대한 질적연구이다. 동행자는 교정프로그램 참가 청소년과 함께 걷는 사람을 일컫는다. 2014년부터 지금까지 총 6회가 진행되었으며, 프로그램 보고서에 수록된 동행자 소감문 46편의 사례에 대한 내용분석을 실시하였다. 분석한 결과 131개의 의미단위를 7개의 하위단위로 재구성하고, 이를 다시 최종 4개 영역으로 정의하였다. 특히 구성요소를 "보호 청소년을 이해", "동행자 시선의 긍정적 변화", "걷기 교정프로그램에 대한 의구심", "프로그램 효과성과 동행자의 중요성"으로 명명하였다. 일련의 연구를 통하여 보호 청소년 전문 동행자 양성, 교정프로그램 기간과 횟수와 참가인원 확대 등의 보호청소년 관련 교정프로그램 발전 방안 모색에 기대한다.

가정학 전공자의 취업과 전망 (A Study of Current Employment and Future Trends for Young Home Economists)

  • The current employment status among young home economists and perspectives in occupations for prospective Home Economics graduates were explored in this study which utilized information from 17 to 21 colleges in Korea and colleges in the United States during the five years of 1977∼1981. The Home Economics content areas covered in this study were Clothing and Textiles, Foods and Nutrition, Housing and Interior Design, and Child Development and Family Life. The highest percentage of Korean graduates in Clothing and Textiles was employed either as teachers at the junior high school level or as designers in the clothing and textile industries. Quite a number of the graduates were engaged in further studies at the graduate level. Korean graduates with a master's degree were teaching at the college level and some had furthered their studies at the doctorate level either here or abroad. Koreans with a bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition held jobs as teachers in junior high school, dieticians at mass feeding institutions and hospitals, food scientists in food industries, and researchers in institutions. Those with a master's degree were teaching at the college level. Americans with a bachelor's degree worked as dieticians, supervisors in restaurants and institutions, extension workers, researchers at various facilities, teachers and clerks. Americans with a master's or doctorate degree were engaged in teaching at colleges or supervising at research or working as extension specialists. In general, Korean graduates were found to hold positions in less varied areas than their American counter-parts. Among forty-nine graduates those working in their professional field reported less sex discrimination that those working in other fields. The major area of employment in Housing and Interior Design or Home Management graduates in Korea was teaching while in the United States it was extension work, business, governmental work and teaching. It was suggested that in the future, career development in Korea be further explored to include extension service, research, social welfare, financial planning, business, free-lancing, funeral home, home-call, and correctional education. Interviews with executives from 6 business enterprises indicated that most of them were aware of the potential contribution home economists could make for their companies but they expressed a negative attitude towards women in general due to their short stay on the job. Jobs held by Child Development and Family Life majors with a bachelor's degree in Korea were mostly teaching positions in public, junior and senior high school. However, jobs such as nursery school teaching, working in clinical setting, business, and teaching at public, junior and senior high school predominated in the United states. Most Korean graduates with a master's degree were teaching in professional colleges while in the United Stated the job variation among the graduates was rather evenly distributed among teaching at college level, public and high school, nursery school and administration areas. Reports from 7 child development majors on the job indicated that they were paid less that secretarial workers. Only half of them were working in their major area and these expressed satisfaction with their work. Two thirds of the respondents indicated no sex discrimination. It was suggested that in the future Child Development and Family Life majors pursue employment in counseling, guidance, recreation, mass media, administration and outreach work as well as education, research and parent education in services for children, teen-agers, adults and families.
