Implementing Knowledge Management : A Case Study of S Global Corporation (기업의 지식경영 실행에 관한 질적 연구 : S기업의 지식경영 실천 사례)

  • As knowledge has become the most important means of production for a company to survive in a "knowledge-based society", knowledge management has become the key issue in the corporate sector. Despite its growing significance, there are limited numbers of research that describe how companies actually develop, share and practice their knowledge. From this perspective, this study used a qualitative approach to explore on the actual process of knowledge management implementation. In-depth interviews with eleven senior managers, who were working at S global corporation, were conducted. The results show that there are differences between how the participants perceive and how they actually perform in managing knowledge. While the participants tend to conceptualize knowledge management as building a technical system, their performance has shown that knowledge has been developed and shared through active interaction among the members in the company. The factors that impede knowledge management were caused by the individualized job assignment and inapplicable exercises that result in obscuring information flow and utilizing inadequate and low quality of knowledge. The findings of this study imply that knowledge management is not a matter of formality but a paradigm that assures for the flow and share of knowledge.

  • Organizational ability to analyze and utilize data plays an important role in knowledge management and decision-making. This study aims to investigate the potential application of large language models in corporate data analysis. Focusing on the field of human resources, the research examines the data analysis capabilities of these models. Using the widely studied IBM HR dataset, the study reproduces machine learning-based employee turnover prediction analyses from previous research through ChatGPT and compares its predictive performance. Unlike past research methods that required advanced programming skills, ChatGPT-based machine learning data analysis, conducted through the analyst's natural language requests, offers the advantages of being much easier and faster. Moreover, its prediction accuracy was found to be competitive compared to previous studies. This suggests that large language models could serve as effective and practical alternatives in the field of corporate data analysis, which has traditionally demanded advanced programming capabilities. Furthermore, this approach is expected to contribute to the popularization of data analysis and the spread of data-driven decision-making (DDDM). The prompts used during the data analysis process and the program code generated by ChatGPT are also included in the appendix for verification, providing a foundation for future data analysis research using large language models.

The Structural Relationships between the Antecedents of Knowledge Sharing and User Performance in Knowledge Management systems (지식관리시스템에서의 지식공유에 대한 영향요인과 성과간의 구조적 관계에 관한 연구)

  • The knowledge society has come to where the knowledge is the source of wealth contrary to the traditional era that labor and capital were the source of wealth. Thus, corporate is accelerating to introduce the knowledge management and to establish the knowledge management system (KMS) in order to effectively manage the knowledge that can be the source of their competitiveness. The purpose of this paper is to identify the factors which affect knowledge sharing and to prove empirically their relationships with the KMS performance. A survey was conducted and data were collected from 220 respondents of 19 organizations which have adopted KMS. Research model and related hypotheses were tested using PLS Graph 3.0. As a result of data analysis, seven hypotheses out of eleven hypotheses were supported. In particular, knowledge sharing is significantly influenced by those knowledge sharing factors such as openness, trust, training, reward system, perceived usefulness, and communication channel. Also, individual impact is significantly affected by knowledge sharing. This study is expected to provide a sound basis for understanding the importance of knowledge sharing to gain organizational as well as individual competitiveness and exploring ways to effectively share knowledge through enhancing the use of KMS in organizations.

Effect of Strategic Orientation on Information Technology Competency and Corporate Performance in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises(SMEs) (중소기업의 전략적 지향성이 정보기술역량과 기업성과에 미치는 영향)

  • This study empirically verified the effect of strategic orientation on information technology(IT) competency and corporate performance for organizational members engaged in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In the research model proposed in this study, strategic orientation affects corporate performance, and IT competency is used as a mediating variable in this process. For this study, a survey was conducted on organizational members working in small and medium-sized manufacturers located in Ulsan Metropolitan City. A total of 320 questionnaires were distributed, and 277 copies were used in this study. The collected data were statistically analyzed using SPSS 24.0. The research results are as follows: First, customer orientation, market orientation, and technology orientation of strategic orientation were found to have a positive (+) effect on both information technology knowledge and information technology operation of IT competency. And it was found that both customer orientation and technology orientation of strategic orientation only affects the information technology infrastructure of IT competency. Second, it was found that customer orientation and technology orientation of strategic orientation had a positive (+) effect on corporate performance, but market orientation had no effect on corporate performance. Third, it was found that information technology knowledge, information technology operation, and information technology infrastructure of IT competency had a positive (+) effect on corporate performance. Fourth, as a result of examining the mediating effect of information technology competency between strategic orientation and corporate performance, information technology knowledge, information technology operation, and information technology infrastructure of IT capability were found to have a partial mediating effect between customer orientation and technology orientation of strategic orientation and corporate performance. These research results suggest that in today's fourth industrial revolution era, customer-oriented and technology-oriented management strategies should be established to improve the competitive advantage and performance of small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) in the supply chain with large enterprises, and at the same time information technology capabilities such as information technology knowledge, information technology operation, and information technology infrastructure should be strengthened.

  • To the best of our knowledge, for the first time, we applied impedance spectroscopy to analysis on OLED degradation mechanism by monitoring impedance change during constant voltage aging, and modeling OLED with lumped circuit elements. Change in each element value was used to explain charge accumulation and field redistribution in each organic layer.

  • With the advent of a recent knowledge-based society, interest in patents is steadily increasing. The patent is an important indicator that can capture the level of R&D investment and technology development. In an era of deepening new protectionism and the pandemic of COVID-19, patents play an important role in sustainable economic development and establishing a strong domestic industrial ecosystem. In this paper, we analyze the impact of patent applications on the corporate performance of the Korean manufacturing industry over the past 21 years from 1999 to 2019. We divide patents into overseas patents and domestic patents and analyze the respective effects on the entire manufacturing industry, ICT industries, and non-ICT industries. Major findings are summarized as follows. First, patents have a positive effect on both exports and sales of Korean manufacturing companies. Second, overseas patents have a greater impact on corporate performance than domestic patents. Third, Patents have a more positive effect on ICT industries than on non-ICT industries.

  • High-tech industry has been the principal economic source for Taiwan in recent years. The characteristics of high-tech industries in Taiwan are changeable product markets, short product life cycles and high company attrition rate. In the globalization trend, the high-tech industry has gradually increased corporate competitiveness and reached the goal of sustainable operations through knowledge management, knowledge sharing and new product research and development. Firms have aggressively strengthened and integrated their internal and external resources and enhanced knowledge sharing to increase industry operational performance. Effectively strengthening the knowledge management operation and performance evaluation of knowledge sharing in Taiwan's high-tech industry has become a critical issue. In the selection of knowledge sharing Key Performance Indicators (KPI), this research divided the knowledge sharing indicators into representative strategic indicators such as organizational knowledge learning, organizational knowledge resources, organizational information capacity and organizational knowledge performance through screening using Factor Analysis. The characteristics of the constructs were interdependent. This research calculated and adjusted the correlation among the key performance knowledge sharing indicators using ANP and determined the relative weight of knowledge sharing.

  • In order to survive the competition, companies are developing new knowledge, applying and communicating, and accumulating numerous knowledge management activities. Therefore, it is important to establish and operate an effective knowledge management system to introduce and utilize effective knowledge management. So, the purpose of this study is to confirm the relation between the learning orientation of the organization and the knowledge management which are the main results in the knowledge management. In other words, this study investigated how the knowledge management system of a company affects the learning orientation of the corporate members, so as to be a basis for establishing the direction of knowledge management in the future. This study synthesized theory and previous studies, developed hypotheses and research models, and conducted empirical analysis through questionnaire surveys. This study is analyzed that knowledge management system has a positive effect on learning growth will. In addition, it was confirmed that the knowledge management system has a statistically significant relationship with the intention of internal improvement. Therefore, for the successful operation and management of the support management system, maintenance of the system that can focus on the strategic and appropriate learning model of the organization and the role of the organization member is an important variable. The results of this study are expected to provide meaningful guidance not only in the practical field but also in the study of the organization's knowledge management system.

  • Nowadays knowledge is begging to supplant the traditional factors of production and has become the most important new corporate and competitive resource. Many construction firms have been trying to perform Knowledge management, and implement Knowledge Management System. For successful KMS, a company should check the exiting infrastructures which includes resources and knowledge which an organization already may have in place, their culture, and processes and adopt the proper approach according to their own business requirement.   • The credit ration is a significant area of financial management which is of major interest to practitioners, financial and credit analysts. The components of credit rating are identified decision models are developed to assess credit rating an the corresponding creditworthiness of firms an accurately ad possble. Although many early studies demonstrate a priori which of these techniques will be most effective to solve a specific classification problem. Recently, a number of studies have demonstrate that a hybrid model integration artificial intelligence approaches with other feature selection algorthms can be alternative methodologies for business classification problems. In this article, we propose a hybrid approach using rough set theory as an alternative methodology to select appropriate attributes for case-based reasoning. This model uses rough specific interest lies in lthe stable combining of both rough set theory to extract knowledge that can guide dffective retrevals of useful cases. Our specific interest lies in the stable combining of both rough set theory and case-based reasoning in the problem of corporate credit rating. In addition, we summarize backgrounds of applying integrated model in the field of corporate credit rating with a brief description of various credit rating methodologies.
