충격위치와 심재적층각도에 따른 하니컴 샌드위치 패널의 저속충격 특성 연구 (A Study on Low-Velocity Impact Characterization of Honeycomb Sandwich Panels According to the Changes of Impact Location and Core Fabrication Angles)

  • In this paper, a study on low-velocity impact response of honeycomb sandwich panels was done for the changes of impact location and core fabrication angles. The test specimens were made of glass/epoxy laminate facesheet and aluminum honeycomb core. Square samples of 100mm and 100mm sides were subjected under low-velocity impact loading using instrumented testing machine at three energy levels. Impact parameters like maximum force, time to maximum force, deflection at maximum force and absorbed energy were evaluated and compared for the changes of impact location and core fabrication angle. The impact damage size were measured at facesheet surface by 3-Dimensional scanner. Also, sandwich specimens after impact test were cut to analyse the failure mode.

  • Bi-2223/Ag superconducting wires have been mainly prepared by a powder-in-tube method. The drawing and the rolling are main processes to increase the core density and wire length. In the fabrication of long wire, especially, the drawing should be precisely controlled to assure the filament homogeneity. In this paper, the influences of drawing die angle, bearing length and reduction ratio on the sausaging and the critical current density of the wire are investigated. Single cored and multi-filamentary wires are fabricated by PIT method with different conditions. The core densities and sausaging in the wires are investigated and are discussed regarding their relationship to the I$_{c}$. It was made clear that the geometry of drawing die is sensitively dependent on the sausaging. The improvement of I$_{c}$ was achieved by reducing the die angle and high core density.ity.

소형공작기계를 이용한 광커넥터용 V 홈 가공에 관한 연구 (A Study on Machining of A V-groove on the Optical Fiber Connector Using a Miniaturized Machine Tool)

  • As optical communication is being substituted for telecommunication, the demand of a large variety of fiber optic components is increasing. V-groove substrates, one of the module components, are used to connect optical fibers to optical planar circuits and to arrange fibers. Their applications are multi-channel optical connectors and optical waveguide fiber coupling, etc. Because these substrates are a critical part of the splitter in a multiplexer and a multi fiber connector, precise and reliable fabrication process is required. For precisely aligning core pitch between fibers, machined core pitch tolerance should be within sub-microns. Therefore, these are generally produced by state-of-the-art micro-fabrication like MEMS. However, most of the process equipment is very expensive. It is also difficult to change the process line for custom designs to meet specific requirements using various materials. For various design specifications such as different values of the V angle and low-priced process, the fabrication method should be flexible and low cost. To achieve this goal, we have suggested a miniaturized machine tool with high accuracy positioning system. Through this study, it is shown that this cutting process can be applied to produce V-groove subtracts. We also show the possibility of using a miniaturized machining system for producing small parts.

  • A $50{\times}50{\mu}m^2$ aluminum micromirror array is fabricated using shadow evaporation process. The fabrication process is very simple with use of shadow evaporation process, and the micromirror array has a high fill-factor. The static and dynamic characteristics such as deflection angle vs. applied voltage, step response, and frequency response are measured using a contact free optical measurement technique. The downward threshold voltage was 8 V, step response time was $13.5{\mu}s$ when 32 V step voltage applied, and a resonance observed at 11kHz. The lifetime of micromirror with anti-stiction coating was tested and micromirror operated successfully over 200 million cycles of touch-down operations.

광분배를 위한 Y-branch 제작과 광파이버와의 결합특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the fabrication of Y-branch for optical power distribution and its coupling properties with optical fiber)

  • In this paper, w designed an opical power distribution device for application to an optical switching and an optical subscriber loop. We fabricated PSG thin film by LPCVD. Based on the measured index of fabricted thin film, rib-type waveguide was transformed to two-dimension by the effective index method and we simulated dispersion property to find asingle-mode condition. We found that the optimum design parameters of rib-type waveguide are:cladding layer of 3.mu.m, core layer of 3.mu.m, buffer layer of 10.mu.m, and core width of 4.mu.m. Each side of the guiding region was etched down to 4.mu.m to shape the core. We used these optimum parameters of the rib-type waveguide with branching angle of 0.5.deg. and simulted the Y-branch waveguide by the BPM simulation. Numerical loss in branching area was claculated to be 0.1581dB and equal to the total loss of the Y-branch. The loss of the fabricated Y-branch waveguide on PSG film ws 1.6dB at .lambda.=1.3.mu.m before annealing but was 1.2dB after annealing at 1000.deg. C for 10 minutes. Consequently, the loss of branching area from 3000.mu.m to 6000.mu.m in the z-direction was 0.8dB, and single-mode propagation was confirmed by measuring the near field pattern. For coupling the fabricated Y-branch waveguide with an optical fiber, we fabricated V-groove which was used as the upholder of optical fiber. An etching angle was 54.deg. and the width and depth of guiding groove was 150.mu.m, 70.mu.m, respectively. The optical fiber is inserted onto V-groove. Both the Y-branch and V-groove were connected through the index matching oil. Coupling loss after connecting Y-branch and the optical fiber on V-groove was 0.34dB and that after injecting index mateching oil was 0.14dB.

포토레지스트 surface-Relief 위상형 홀로그라피 분광회절격자의 제작 및 성능평가 (Fabrication of the Photoresist Surface-Relief Phase Holographic Grating and Its Performance Test)

  • Holographic diffraction gratings which are the core element of the optical instruments such as a spectrophotometer have been fabricated using the photoresist as a recording material. A 488nm line from an argon laser is used in making the gratings. Transmission type surface-relief phase grating and reflection type which is fabsricated by coating the aluminum on the transmission type with thickness 2000\ulcornerare fabricated, the spatical frequency of which are 1200 lines/mm. Diffraction efficiency, scattered light and wave-front aberratin are measured to test the performance of the developed gratings. A marimum diffraction efficiency is given when light is incident at the Bragg angle. Theoretical efficiency is about 80%, but measured efficiency of the transmission type and reflection type is 50% and 45%, respectively.

  • The screen printed technique is one of the electrode forming technologies for crystalline silicon solar cell. It has the advantage that can raise the production efficiency due to simple process. The electrode technology is the core process because the electrode feature is given a substantial factor (for solar cell efficiency). In this paper, we tried to change conditions such as squeegee angle $55{\sim}75^{\circ}$, snap off 0.5~1.75 mm, printing pressure 0.6~0.3 MPa and 1.6~2.0 mm finger spacing. As a result, the screen printing process showed an improved performance with an increased height higher finger height. Optimization of fabrication process has achieved 17.48% efficiency at screen mesh of 1.6 mm finger spacing.

OLED의 광 효율 향상 기술: 랜덤 나노 외부 광 추출 복합 층 제작 (Light Efficiency Enhancement Technology of OLED: Fabrication of Random Nano External Light Extraction Composite Layer)

  • The light extraction technology for improving the light efficiency of OLEDs is the core technology for extracting the light inside the OLEDs to the outside. This study demonstrates a simple method to generate random nanostructures (RNSs) containing high refractive index nanoparticles to improve light extraction and viewing angle characteristics. A simple dry low-temperature process makes the nanostructured scattering layer on the polymer resin widely used in the industry. The scattering layer has the shape of randomly distributed nanorods. To control optical properties, we focused on changing the shape and density of RNSs and adjusting the concentration of high refractive index nanoparticles. As a result, the film of the present invention exhibits a perpendicular transmittance of 85% at a wavelength of 550 nm. This film was used as a scattering layer to reduce substrate mode loss and improve EL efficiency in OLEDs.

양방향 송수신모듈 제작을 위한 광결합계수의 계산 및 측정 (Calculation and measurement of optical coupling coefficient for bi-directional tancceiver module)

  • 레이저 다이오드와 수신광검출기가 집적된 소자를 V-홈을 가진 실리콘 광학벤치에 flip-chip 본딩하고, 경사면을 가진 하나의 단일모드 광섬유와 수동정렬하는 방법을 사용하여 가입자망을 위한 저가의 양방향 송수신 모듈을 설계, 제작하였다. 광섬유의 단면 경사각에 따른 송신광결합 효율과 수신광결합 효율사이의 병목점을 찾기 위해 Gaussian빔 모델을 사용하여 수평정렬거리, 광섬유 단면 경사각, 수직정렬오차등의 변수에 따른 광결합계수를 계산함으로써, 최적의 광정렬조건을 예측하였다. 또한 실리콘 광학벤치에서 광결합효율을 측정하여 광섬유의 수직정렬오차에 따른 광결합계수의 감소가 광섬유의 경사각에 의해 보상될 수 있다는 계산결과의 타당함을 확인하였다. 실제의 sub-module 제작 및 광결합 실험에서 송신빔이 광섬유 단면에 반사되어 PD로 입사되는 것을 최소화하기 위하여 광섬유 단면을 경사절두원추형으로 제작함으로써 PD의 수신 잡음을 $30mu$m 이상의 정렬거리에서 -35dB이하로 유지할 수 있었다. 같은 조건에서 단면 경사각이 $12^{\circ}$인 광섬유에 의해 -12.1dB의 송신출력과 0.2A/W의 responsivity를 얻을 수 있었다.

포토리소그래피를 통한 광통신용 실리콘 렌즈 제작 및 특성 연구 (Research on Fabrication of Silicon Lens for Optical Communication by Photolithography Process)

  • 광결합 효율(Fiber coupling efficiency)을 개선하기 위해서는 Laser diode에서 넓은 각도로 방출된 빛을 광섬유의 중심(Core) 부분으로 모아주는 집광렌즈(Collimating lens)가 필수적이다. 현재 사용되는 집광렌즈는 형틀(Mold)을 이용한 글래스 몰드(Glass mold) 공법이 널리 사용되고 있다. 이 방식은 생산단가가 저렴하지만, 정교한 성형이 어렵고 구면수차와 같은 품질문제가 있다. 본 연구는 기존의 글래스 몰드 공법을 반도체 공정으로 대체함으로써 표면 가공의 정밀도를 높이고, 렌즈의 재질 또한 반도체 공정에 적합한 실리콘으로 변경하였다. 반도체공정은 PR을 이용한 포토리소그래피(Photolithography) 공정과 플라즈마를 이용한 건식 식각(Dry etching) 공정으로 구성된다. 광결합 효율은 실리콘 렌즈의 광학적 특성을 평가하기 위해 초정밀 정렬 시스템을 사용하여 측정되었다. 그 결과, 렌즈 직경 $220{\mu}m$ 일 때의 최대 광결합 효율은 50%로 측정되었고, 렌즈 직경 $210-240{\mu}m$ 범위에서는 최고 광결합 효율 대비 5% 이하의 광결합 특성저하를 보여줌을 확인하였다.
