  • Part-I of this two-part paper develops an optimal algorithm for transient stability control to coordinate the preventive actions and emergency actions for a subset of contingencies with an identical unstable mode. In this portion, several subsets of contingencies having dissimilar unstable modes are dealt with. Preventive actions benefiting a subset of contingencies may go against the stability of others, thus coordination among the optimal schemes for individual subsets is necessary. The coordination can be achieved by replacing some preventive actions with contingency-specified emergency actions. It is formulated as a classical model of economic dispatch with stability constraints and stability control costs. Such an optimal algorithm is proposed based on the algorithm in Part-I of the paper and is verified by simulations on a Chinese power system.

  • The development of embryos reconstructed by nuclear transfer is dependent upon numerous factors including the type of recipient cell, method of enucleation, the type of donor cell, method of reconstruction, activation, the cell cycle stage of both the donor nucleus and the recipient cytoplasm and the method of culture of the reconstructed embryos. Many of these points which have been reviewed extensively elsewhere (Sun and Moor, 1995; Colman, 1999; Oback and Wells, 2002; Renard et al., 2002; Galli et al., 2003b), here we will concentrate on main area, the production of suitable cytoplast and nuclear donor, nuclear-cytoplasmic coordination, oocyte activation, culture of reconstructed embryos, and the effects that this may have on development.

  • The coordination of pyridyl-N to pentacyanoferrate for the detection of small organic antigens in solution is presented. The unique contribution of this paper is the direct conjugation of pyridyl-N in small organic antigens to pentacyanoferrate. Pentacyanoferrate is promising as an electrochemical label owing to its good electro-chemical properties, which can be utilized to generate an electrical signal in homogeneous electrochemical immunoassays. The facilely synthesized pyridyl-N to pentacyanoferrate was characterized by the electrochemical and spectroscopic methods. Hippuric acid (HA) has been detected competitively on the interaction of free HA and pentacyanoferrate-(4-aminomethylpyridine-hippuric acid) (Fe-HA) to its antibody, with the detection limit of 0.50 ${\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$. While pentacyanoferrate-based immunoassay is in its simplicity and infancy, the proposed immunoassay offers attractive opportunities for developing pyridyl-N-based the electrochemical detection of small organic antigens in the health care area.

  • The effects of surge arresters for protection of transmission systems against direct lightning strokes have already been reviewed using Electromagnetic Transients Program(EMTP). Distribution lines are spanned in much larger area than transmission lines, and therefore, are more susceptible to lightning strokes. We have modelled the 22.9kV underground distribution cable systems that have arresters and grounding wires. And this paper analyzes the overvoltages on underground distribution cable systems when direct lightning strokes strike on the overhead grounding wire using EMTP. Then we investigated that (1) the effects of lightning stroke according to underground distribution cable length (2) voltages at the riser pole and at the cable terminal according to installation of arrester. This study will provide insulation coordination methods for reasonable systems design in 22.9kV underground distribution cable systems.

  • The study attempts to try a classification of tidal flats types by selecting indicators and go forward to suggest a management plan by tidal flats types. With several indicators selected and PSR(Pressure-State-Response) framework, the relationship between environmental changes and socioeconomic activities in tidal flats was investigated. Tidal flats types were consequently classified into three groups: Wetland Protection Area, Wetland Rehabilitation Area, and Wetland Use-coordination Area. Accordingly, 69 tidal flats were assigned into each groups by PSR analysis: 34 Wetlands Protection Areas, 26 Wetland Rehabilitation Areas, and 9 Wetland Use-coordination Areas. So the baseic management plan of tidal flats must be different by tidal flats and characteristics of region but basically it must give top priority to the sustainable use in the long term.

  • Asynchronous phenomenon occurs on the synchronous generators under power system when a generator's amplitude of electromagnetic force, phase angle, frequency and waveform etc become different from those of other synchronous generators which can follow instantly varying speed of turbine. Because the amplitude of electromagnetic force, phase frequency and waveform differ from those of other generators with which are to be put into parallel operation due to the change of excitation condition for load sharing and the sharing load change, if reactive current in the internal circuit circulates among generators, the efficiency varies and the stator winding of generators are overheated by resistance loss. Where calculation method of protection settings and Logic for Protection of Generator Asynchronization will be recommended, A distance relay scheme is commonly used for backup protection. This scheme, called a step distance protection, is comprised of 3 steps for graded zones having different operating time. As for the conventional step distance protection scheme, Zone 2 can exceed the ordinary coverage excessively in case of a transformer protection relay especially. In this case, there can be overlapped protection area from a backup protection relay and, therefore, malfunctions can occur when any fault occurs in the overlapped protection area. Distance relays and overcurrent relays are used for backup protection generally, and both relays have normally this problem, the maloperation, caused by a fault in the overlapped protection area. Corresponding to an IEEE standard, this problem can be solved with the modification of the operating time. On the other hand, in Korea, zones are modified to cope with this problem in some specific conditions. These two methods may not be obvious to handle this problem correctly because these methods, modifying the common rules, can cause another coordination problem. To overcome asynchronizing protection this paper describes an improved backup protection coordination scheme using a new Logic that will be suggested.

  • Because robot hardware architecture generally is consisted of a few sensors and motors connected to the central processing unit, this type of structure is led to time consuming and unreliable system. For analysis, one of the fundamental difficulties in real-time system is how to be bounded the time behavior of the system. When a distributed control network controls the robot, with a central computing hub that sets the goals for the robot, processes the sensor information and provides coordination targets for the joints. If the distributed system supposed to be connected to a control network, the joints have their own control processors that act in groups to maintain global stability, while also operating individually to provide local motor control. We try to analyze the architecture of network-based humanoid robot's leg part and deal with its application using the CAN(Controller Area Network) protocol.

  • Although Changdong Sanggye area has been developed during 1980s as a new city for the supply of low-income housing, currently it was degraded to a bed town located outside Seoul. However, Changdong Sanggye area is designated as the center of a metropolitan area in '2030 Seoul City Basic Plan' due to a variety of potential factors such as a traffic center for linking metropolitan areas, location of 15 universities, and neighboring natural environment like Jungnang stream and Buckhan mountain. The purpose of urban regeneration plan is to create a new CBD of Changdong Sanggye which is the center of vocational and cultural lives of 3.2 million people in the northeastern metropolitan area. To achieve the purpose, 12 unit projects and 24 sub-unit projects are set up based on the three major goals and core strategies. An enterprise project team of northeastern area was newly founded and then a dedicated organization was established by the Seoul government in 2015 in order to integrate separated urban regeneration related functions. In the Seoul government an administrative council and a project promotion council are operated for consultation and coordination between the administrative divisions and government projects for urban regeneration. Through the success in Changdong Sanggye regeneration project, they are expected to have economic effects such as job creation and increase in tax revenue and to re-vitalize the area as a new economic center in northeastern Seoul having amenities and cultural facilities and waterfront parks.

  • In this paper, we consider a problem of partitioning a search area into smaller rectangular regions, so that multiple platforms can conduct search operations independently without requiring unnecessary coordination among themselves. The search area consists of cells where each cell has some prior information regarding the probability of target existence. The detection probability in particular cell is evaluated by multiplying the observation probability of the platform and the target existence probability in that cell. The total detection probability within the search area is defined as the cumulative detection probability for each cell. However, since this search area partitioning problem is NP-Hard, we decompose the problem into three sequential phases to solve this computationally intractable problem. Additionally, we discuss a special case of this problem, which can provide an optimal analytic solution. We also examine the performance of the proposed approach by comparing our results with the optimal analytic solution.
