A Study on the Dimension of Quality Metrics for Information Systems Development and Success : An Application of Information Processing Theory

  • Information systems quality engineering is one of the most problematic areas in practice and research, and needs cooperative efforts between practice and theory [Glass, 1996]. A model for evaluating the quality of system development process and ensuing success is proposed based on information processing theory of project unit design. A nomological net among a set of quality variables is identified from prior research in the areas of organization science, software engineering, and management information systems. More specifically, system development success was modelled as a function of project complexity, system development modelling environment, user participation, project unit structure, resource availability, and the level of iterative nature of development methodology. Based on the model developed from the information processing theory of project unit design in organization science. appropriate quality metrics for each variable in the proposed model are matched. In this way, a framework of relevant systems development and success quality metrics for controlling systems development processes and ensuing success is proposed. The causal relationships among the constructs in the proposed model are proposed as future empirical research for academicians and as managerial tools for quality managers. The framework and propositions help quality manager to select more parsimonious quality metrics for controlling information systems development processes and project success in an integrated way. Also this model can be utilized for evaluating software quality assurance programmes, which are developed and marketed by many vendors.

  • This study examined co-worker relationship on of life between employees of contract foodservice in general hospital. Contract foodservice managed general hospitals surveyed from 1 October 2015 to 31 October 2015. A total of 230 questionnaires (cook-30 questionnaires, nutritionist-50 questionnaires, cook's helper-150 questionnaires) were distributed, and 177 questionnaires were used for the study. As a result, the quality of life of employees contract foodservice general hospital was composed of sub-factors (employee engagement, stress at work, home-work interface, working condition, general well-being). co-worker relationship was composed of sub-factors (cooperative co-worker relationship, competitive co-worker relationship). Causal relationship between variables was through regression analysis, and significant results were shown. ooperative co-worker relationship had an effect on employee engagement, stress at work, working condition and general well-being. competitive co-worker relationship.

Rediscovering A Path to Aging in Place: Development of Housing Cooperatives for Rural Elderly

  • Profit-keeping behaviors naturally occur in the market to satisfy consumers, and the logic behind it lies in the economies of scale. On the flip side, some commodities transacted in the market are not available or can not be easily acquired unless the demand is high enough. Under this proposition, some consumers rise and find their own solution to meet the services at a reasonable cost or at an adequate level. The commonly adopted way is to establish a cooperative, and it stirs purchasing power by pooling resources and further bargains price and service quality. As a consumer cooperative, housing cooperatives notably found in rural towns enable the elderly to continue independent living. This study is to take a closer look at residential life of the rural elderly in housing cooperatives. Utilizing in-depth focus group interviews with 40 residents in four housing cooperatives, this qualitative research draws main factors affecting the decision to move in, residential assessment, and strengths and weakness of living in a housing cooperative. The primary factor influencing the moving decision is to continue to independent living in a familiar community, and the bottom line is planning ahead. Frailty and bereavement are found to be the leading occasions for them to move. The participants are satisfied with the independent living arrangement, and particularly, cited such features as safety and security, elderly-friendly design, common spaces, freedom, social activities and efficient living. Also, it is stated that some cooperative natures such as control over the property and giving a voice on management render positive impacts on the satisfaction with communal living. In spite of all the benefits and strengths, participants face with a public notion that an independent living arrangement like a housing cooperative has never done before in rural towns, so that most people recognize it as part of dependent living arrangements like nursing home.

미국대학의 Cooperative Extension Service가 제공하는 Internet상의 주생활정보 분석 (An Analysis of Housing Information on Internet Provided by U. S. University CES)

  • As a way to serve housing information providing on internet will be a useful method in the near future in Korea. This study was planned to review the housing information on internet network which provided by U. S. .University CES(cooperative extension service) Comparative analysis was used as a Research method in terms of contents and items about housing information on internet provided by U. S. university CES during two weeks each in August 1997 and July 1998. Findings are as follows; Universities providing housing information and information items had been remarkably increased during one year since August 1997. Most of housing informations except one university CES were free to use in 1997 but three university CES among 12 universities showed only the title of items with charge amounts in 1998. Informations about 'Housing Management' and 'Environment' items were the large parts of the housing information in 1997. In 1998. 'Environment' items were remarkably increased. Items bout insects and mildew removing were large portion of the 'Housing Management'. Items about energy saving water and air quality were large portion of the 'Environment' These findings will be useful to develop items of housing information on internet network with Korean language which should be compensated by the survey research.

  • SCM은 기업의 성과를 향상시키기 위해 공급사슬 전체를 유기적으로 통합한 전략적 협업체이다. SCM의 활동을 효율적으로 달성하기 위해서는 상호 장기적 관계수립을 위한 변화관리가 강조되고 있다. SCM 시스템의 구현은 공급사슬 내의 기업 및 구성원들의 광범위한 변화를 가져오고, 이러한 변화는 기업 및 구성원의 저항에 부딪칠 수 있기 때문이다. 따라서, 효과적인 변화관리 없이는 SCM 시스템의 성공을 보장 할 수 없다. 또한 본 연구에서는 정보특성 (정보품질, 정보공유)를 통한 SCM 시스템성과를 측정하기 위해 정보역량을 개념을 채택하였다. 따라서, 본 연구는 변화관리가 정보품질과 정보공유를 통해 정보역량에 미치는 상호호혜적인 인과관계를 밝히고자 하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 변화관리는 정보품질, 정보공유, 정보역량에 모두 유의한 영향을 보였다. 둘째, 정보품질 역시 정보공유 및 정보역량에 유의한 영향을 보였다. 마지막으로, 정보공유 또한 정보역량에 유의한 영향을 보였다.

The Impact of Eco-friendly Management on Product Quality, Financial Performance and Environmental Performance

  • Purpose - Considering the environmental issues in corporate management is now a necessity, not an option. In addition, consumers' interest in health and environment has increased rapidly. This study aims to investigate how the management style that pursues environmental protection affects the various outcomes at each management process such as planning, producing and supervising process. Research design, data, and methodology - We surveyed 319 manufacturing companies from April 1 to April 30, 2016. Green purchasing, environmental technology management and management support are selected as independent variables and firm performances as dependent variables. Three analyses including factor, regression and moderating were conducted. Results - Regression analysis was performed to set up hypotheses. Consequently, the total six hypotheses were adopted and then innovative management style showed moderating effect. Conclusions - Companies should consider environmental factors to improve the financial performance in the long term. Especially the cooperative style enhances financial performance by implementing eco-friendly design in cooperation with customers. Also, eco-friendly activities with suppliers could have direct environmental protection effects. Therefore, a manufacturer needs to cooperate with both suppliers and customers to maximize the protection effect. The production of eco-friendly products and implementing eco-friendly design with customers positively affect product quality.

공급사슬 내에서 품질지향적 기업문화가 지속가능경영성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 실증연구 (An Empirical Study on the Impact of Quality Oriented Corporate Culture on Sustainability Management Performances)

  • Purpose - Environmental issues, climatic changes, and greenhouse gases are problems to be solved at a global level. With an increased emphasis on the environmental and social responsibility of the management of companies, the manner in which companies approach quality-oriented culture and their individual sustainability management are being discussed as truly important issues to help them secure their competitiveness and growth strategies. This study proposes strategic directions to help manufacturers not only in expanding their competitive quality-oriented company culture but also in strengthening their sustainability management abilities. This study conducts a literature review and empirical research to examine how significantly the variables of a quality-oriented company culture, customer-centered management, and process-centered and supply chain management-centered cooperation affect sustainability management performance in relation to economic profitability, environmental integrity, and social responsibility. Research design, data, and methodology - To verify research models and hypotheses, the study examined 170 companies using a questionnaire survey conducted over six weeks, and involved the performance of data analysis on 146 samples. Questionnaire responses were calibrated based on a Likert scale. The study used the Smart PLS 2.0 program designed for PLS (partial least squares), an analysis instrument of SEM (structural equation modeling). The study then verified empirical research hypotheses working on reliability analysis, validity analysis, factorial analysis, and path analysis. Results - Among the nine hypotheses, four are accepted and the rest are rejected. A quality-oriented company culture focusing on customer-centered management significantly influenced the maintainability management performance of environmental integrity and social responsibility, while economic profitability was dismissed. A process-focused quality-oriented company culture was significantly concerned with economic profitability but not with environmental integrity or social responsibility. A supply-chain cooperative company culture had a significant effect on economic profitability but not on environmental integrity or social responsibility. Conclusion - This study proposes strategic directions to help manufacturers expand their competitive quality-oriented company culture as well as strengthen abilities with sustainability management. It conducts a literature review and empirical research to examine how significantly the variables of quality-oriented company culture, customer-centered management, and process-centered and supply chain management-centered cooperation affect sustainability management performance in relation to economic profitability, environmental integrity, and social responsibility. There are two main conclusions. First, companies should consider the need for social responsibility management and environmental transparent management-focused maintainability management as avenues to create new markets and business, thereby helping the companies secure a reputation for having a customer and process-centered quality-oriented company culture by creating shared values between supply chains and enabling win-win situations through cooperation. Second, we are marching towards a creative win-win era from a society of conflicts and ruptures. Companies should understand that social responsibility management and supply chain management (SCM)-focused cooperation are the foundations of sustainable development, as they try to improve their culture while pursuing both win-win relationships with interested parties and equity in various conflictive relations.

A Novel Adaptive Routing Algorithm for Delay-Sensitive Service in Multihop LEO Satellite Network

  • The Low Earth Orbit satellite network has the unique characteristics of the non-uniform and time-variant traffic load distribution, which often causes severe link congestion and thus results in poor performance for delay-sensitive flows, especially when the network is heavily loaded. To solve this problem, a novel adaptive routing algorithm, referred to as the delay-oriented adaptive routing algorithm (DOAR), is proposed. Different from current reactive schemes, DOAR employs Destination-Sequenced Distance-Vector (DSDV) routing algorithm, which is a proactive scheme. DSDV is extended to a multipath QoS version to generate alternative routes in active with real-time delay metric, which leads to two significant advantages. First, the flows can be timely and accurately detected for route adjustment. Second, it enables fast, flexible, and optimized QoS matching between the alternative routes and adjustment requiring flows and meanwhile avoids delay growth caused by increased hop number and diffused congestion range. In addition, a retrospective route adjustment requesting scheme is designed in DOAR to enlarge the alternative routes set in the severe congestion state in a large area. Simulation result suggests that DOAR performs better than typical adaptive routing algorithms in terms of the throughput and the delay in a variety of traffic intensity.

Cooperative Video Streaming and Active Node Buffer Management Technique in Hybrid CDN/P2P Architecture

  • 본 논문에서는 새로운 미디어 관리 및 전송 운용에 적합한 네트워크 형태인 Hybrid CDN/P2P 아키텍처 기반 하에서 전송 지연과 패킷 손실을 최소화하는 동시에 안정적인 망 운용 정책을 제안한다. 또한 실시간으로 대용량, 고품질의 미디어를 효과적으로 전송하고 네트워크 품질을 향상시킬 수 있도록 하기 위해 전송 스케줄링과 사용자의 요구 패턴을 기반으로 한 끊김 없는 데이터 전송 그리고 이를 통한 트래픽 및 로드를 관리하는 방법을 함께 제안한다. 제안하는 영상 전송기법의 효율성 및 적용 적합도를 검증하기 위해 수행된 실험결과에 따라 제안하는 방법이 기존에 제안된 방법에 비해 비교적 좋은 성능 평가가 이루어졌음을 확인하였다. 이는 프록시 서버 간의 협력적 운용 방법을 통해 보유 데이터 정보를 상호 공유하고 이를 통해 각 노드가 원하는 데이터를 전송받도록 하는 동시에 실행 버퍼 전송 기법을 통해 데이터 전송 과정에서 전달된 데이터의 재사용성을 높이고 있기 때문이다.

중국 모바일 인스턴트 메시징 서비스의 지속사용 의도에 관한 실증연구 (An Empirical Study on User's Continuance Intention Towards Mobile IM Service in China)

  • 최근 카카오톡, 라인, 위챗 등과 같은 모바일 인스턴트 메시징(IM) 서비스는 낮은 전환비용으로 인해 치열한 경쟁을 펼치고 있다. 따라서 서비스 업체 입장에서는 모바일 IM 서비스 이용자의 지속적인 사용의도에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 파악하는 것이 무엇보다도 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 네트워크 효과(network externalities)와 인지된 서비스 품질을 모바일 IM 서비스의 지속적인 사용의도의 외생변수로 고려하였다. 여기서 네트워크 효과는 직접 효과(네트워크 크기)와 간접 효과(보완적 서비스)를 모두 포함한다. 중국 모바일 서비스 사용자를 대상으로 실증분석을 수행한 결과 '네트워크 크기'는 '인지된 유용성'에, '보완적 서비스'는 '인지된 즐거움'에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 '인지된 서비스 품질'은 예상대로 '고객만족' 뿐만 아니라 '인지된 유용성'과 '인지된 즐거움' 모두에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 인지된 유용성 및 인지된 즐거움은 '고객만족'을 통한 간접적인 영향 이외에도 '지속적인 사용의도'에 직접적으로도 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
