Seeds of Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) have demanded high quality because of their high cost of seed. The optimization of the seed priming techniques that have positive effect on fast and uniform germination becomes important at the commercial level. Several factors such as solution composition, osmotic potential, and treatment duration affect seed priming response. In this study, osmotic potentials of priming solution and germination characteristics of primed seed were investigated to clarify the effects different inorganic salt types and the duration. Tomato seeds were primed in osmotic solutions that were osmotic potential ranged -1.54 to -0.45 MPa in an aerated solution of PEG 8000 (17%, 22%, 27%), and inorganic salt solution of $KNO_3$, $Na_2SO_4$, and $K_2SO_4$ (100, 200, 300mM). The seeds were treated at $20^{\circ}C$ for 2, 4, and 6 days. After each treatment, the seeds were dried to moisture content ranged 5-8% at $25^{\circ}C$. Four replications of 25 seeds per each treatments were placed in 10-cm petri dishes containing two filter papers and 3 ml of $dH_2O$ and incubated at $20^{\circ}C/30^{\circ}C$ and $15^{\circ}C$ and seedlings evaluated for abnormality after 14 days of incubation. Seed water potential (${\psi}$) was correlated with water potential of priming solution ($r^2=0.86$). Seeds primed in 100mM $KNO_3$ resulted the highest germination rate (GR, $63.9 %{\cdot}day^{-1}$) and lowest mean germination time (MGT, 2.0 days) comparing to untreated control ($23.9%{\cdot}day^{-1}$ of germination rate and 4.1 days of MGT) at $20/30^{\circ}C$, even though 96% of germination percentage were not different. Seeds primed in 100mM $KNO_3$ (${\psi}=-0.45MPa$) for 4 days showed ${\psi}=-0.38MPa$. Priming in $Na_2SO_4$, $K_2SO_4$, and PEG solution for 6 days improved MGT and GR, but not significantly than 4 days of treatment. Additionally, stepwise osmotic solution treatment with 100mM and 300mM concentration for 6 day did not showed differences with single treatment. In relation to osmotic potentials, identical osmotic potential in different inorganic salt solution showed different effect on germination characteristics.

The gases emitted from internal combustion engines using fossil fuels are causing many social problems, such as environmental pollution, global warming, and adverse health effects on the human body. In recent years, the demand for renewable energy has increased, and government policy support and research and development are also active. In the collecting part of a solar energy system, which is widely used at home, propylene glycol (PG) (anti-freeze), as a heating medium, is mixed with water at a fixed value of 50%, and the heat is transferred to the collecting part at subzero temperatures. On the other hand, when leakage occurs in the heat medium in the heat collecting part, supplemental water is supplied to the solar heat collecting part due to the characteristics of the solar heat system, so that the concentration of antifreeze in the replenishing water becomes low. As a result, the temperature of the solar heat collecting part is lowered resulting in a frost wave, which causes economic damage. The purpose of this study was to develop a device capable of controlling the antifreeze concentration automatically in response to a temperature drop to prevent freezing of the heat collecting part generated in the solar energy system. The electrical conductivity of the H2O component was larger than that of PG, and the resistance increased with decreasing temperature. The PG concentration control values of 40, 50, and 60% should be controlled through calibration with a PG concentration of 39.6, 50.7, and 60.1%.

A dynamic analysis method that freezes a time domain by discretization and solves the spatial propagation equation has a unique feature that provides a degree of freedom on spatial domain compared with the space discretization or space-time discretization finite element method. Using this feature, the time finite element analysis can be effectively applied to optimize the spatial characteristics of distributed type actuators. In this research, the time domain finite element method was used to discretize the model. A state variable vector was used in the discretization to include arbitrary initial conditions. A performance index was proposed on spatial domain to consider both potential and vibrational energy, so that the resulting shape of the distributed actuator was optimized for dynamic control of the structure. It is assumed that the structure satisfies the final rest condition using the realizable control scheme although the initial disturbance can affect the system response. Both equations on states and costates were derived based on the selected performance index and structural model. Ricatti matrix differential equations on state and costate variables were derived by the reconfiguration of the sub-matrices and application of time/space boundary conditions, and finally optimal actuator distribution was obtained. Numerical simulation results validated the proposed actuator shape optimization scheme.

This study, examined Chilocorus kuwanae for biological control of Saissetia coffeae. We measured basic developmental characteristics of C. kuwanae and its capability to prey on the second-instar larvae of S. coffeae by indoor breeding under the following conditions: $25^{\circ}C{\pm}2^{\circ}C$, humidity $70%{\pm}5%$, and day length 16L : 8D. The average daily consumption of the second-instar larvae of S. coffeae by C. kuwanae adults was approximately 77.5 larvae/day, which was significantly 2.8 and 2.9 times higher than consumption by Chrysoperla carnea and Cryptolaemus montrouzieri, respectively. During the nymphal period, C. kuwanae consumed a total of 659.0 second-instar larvae of S. coffeae. The interaction between C. kuwanae and the second-instar larvae of S. coffeae varied according to their densities, with the increase in C. kuwanae consumption rate noted to decelerate and gradually level off at the maximum, rsembling Holling's Type II functional response. Duration of egg to adult development varied from 21.1 days to nearly 27.9 days at temperatures of $25^{\circ}C{\pm}2^{\circ}C$. Hatchability, pupation rate, and adult emergence were greater than 72.3%, 77.8% and 83.3%, respectively.
In this study, we investigated the growth and physiological responses of Iris laevigata Fisch. to shading treatments in order to suggest optimal light conditions for ex-situ conservation of the northern lineage plants. For this purpose, a control plant receiving full sunlight and different shading treatments (50%, 75%, 95%) were installed, and leaf mass per area, chlorophyll content and fluorescence response, and photosynthetic characteristics were investigated. I. laevigata developed leaves with higher photosynthetic efficiency to adapt to lower light intensity as shading levels increased. Chlorophyll content increased with increasing shading levels, and leaf mass per area decreased with increasing leaf area. The chlorophyll fluorescence responses Fv/Fm and NPQ did not change with shading, and the activity of the carbon fixation system did not differ between treatments. I. laevigata exhibited a light-saturation point equivalent to that of sun plants and maintained photosynthetic capacity similar to that of controls up to 75% shading. The apparent quantum yield of I. laevigata decreased significantly at 95% shading, indicating adaptation to lower light conditions. It seems that the photosynthetic capacity of I. laevigata decreases when grown under 95% shading level compared to full sunlight, and it is judged that the longer the light is restricted by continuous shading, the more unfavorable the growth will be.

In this experiment, two inclusion levels (15 and 30% of diets, as-fed basis) of brown rice (BR) were tested against a control diet with 0% BR (51% wheat flour of diet). Six female Miniature Poodles (8~9 months age, initial mean body weight of 3.5 kg) were assigned to treatments in replicated $3{\times}3$ Latin square design. Total tract digestibilities of DM, OM, CP, acid hydrolyzed fat and gross energy increased linearly (P<0.05), and observed digestible energy and metabolizable energy values also increased linearly (P<0.001 and P=0.007, respectively) with increasing BR inclusion levels. Wet and dry fecal output decreased linearly (P=0.001) with increasing BR inclusion levels in the diets. Linear (P<0.05) effects was observed in fecal score for dogs fed BR and fecal ammonia concentration increased linearly (P<0.05) in response to increasing BR inclusion level. It seems that the increase in fecal ammonia concentration may be partially related to the decrease in short-chain fatty acid concentration (P<0.01). This study clearly demonstrates that BR improves nutrients digestibility and fecal characteristics of dog.
It is important to know know deleterious impact of deicing salt on plants for guidelines of planting along roads. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of calcium chloride ($CaCl_2$) on the growth and physiological characteristics of Liriope platyphylla and Pachysandra terminalis. The plants were grown from November of 2015 to March of 2016 in pots containing growing media with $CaCl_2$ at 0% (Control), 0.5%, 1.0%, 3.0%, and 5.0% (based on the weight). While plant growth and photosynthetic activity were significantly decreased in both plant species grown on the media with $CaCl_2$, the degree of sensitivity to $CaCl_2$ differed. The plant growth of Liriope platyphylla was considerably injured under higher than 3.0% of $CaCl_2$, whereas Pachysandra terminalis was all dead under higher than 1.0% of $CaCl_2$. This results indicate that Liriope platyphylla has higher degree of tolerance to the deicing salt than Pachysandra terminalis.
The survey was conducted to look out the characteristics of menstruation and it's management, menstrual attitudes and degree of dysmenorrhea in the adult women. The subjects were 601 women, aged 20 year old and over, selected by convenient sampling. The results were as follows; 1. The mean age of the subjects was 29.1 years, the subjects were consisted of 346 unmarried and 304 delivery experienced person. 2. The characteristics of menstruation were as follows ; irregular 167 person(27.8%), painful 451 person(75%), mean score of pain was 5.9 point and first day was most severe(45.1%). On the while, they have used the method to manage the pain such as "endure 50.8%", "to have a medicine 31.5%". 3. Menstrual attitudes were as follows; attitudes was negative such as it was meaningful as a woman (78.9%), only for birth a baby (51.6%), and menstruation was acceptable (42.9%), hope to get away(28.8%). 4. The degree of dysmenorrhea was a significant difference by age(F=4.0, P<0.01). Especially, in the subcategory, it was significant except for water retension. That is, lower concent ration(F=2.60, p<0.05), negative affect(F=3.09, p<0.05), behavior change(F=6.41, p<0.050), pain(F=3.89, p<0.01), autonomic nerve response(F=2.80, p<0.05). We can conclude there were many women to have negative attitudes to menstruation and first day was most severe dysmenorrhea and it was different by age. From this results, we may suggest as follows; 1. We suggest the program for women to have a positive attitudes will be developed. 2. We can suggest that we need to develop the active and effective method to control dysmenorrhea in the first day during menstruation.

In the present study, the characteristics and changes in the vegetation of Mt. Cheongryang, Inchon, were examined to identify and determine appropriate ways to restore the health of the urban forest and to preserve its vegetation. The vegetation of the community of Quercus mongolica (Mongolian oak) on Mt. Cheongryang appeared to decrease in response to the control of the wilt disease of oak trees. The communities of Sorbus alnifolia (Korean mountain ash) and Styrax japonicus (Snowbell tree) have increased. Pinus rigida (Pitch Pine) had its overall territory decrease, but the current state of the Pinus rigida (Pitch Pine) was estimated to be stable due to its dominance as a tree layer species. In regards to Robinia pseudoacacia (Black Locust), the urbanized species of Sorbus alnifolia (Korean mountain ash), and Styrax japonicus (Snowbell tree), their areas have increased with the appearance of Magnolia obovate (Whiteleaf Japanese Magnolia). The biodiversity of Mt. Cheongryang has decreased by simplifying species in the tree layer and understory species thereof, and the initial success of species in marginal areas has increased. The absence of potential succession was attributed to the termination of ecological succession; thereby, the current vegetation structure was concluded to be remaining as it is for the time being. Soil texture in the mountain primarily consisted of sandy loam or loamy sand; the pH of the soil was in the range 4.26-4.86, rendering a mean pH of 4.59. The content of organic matter (O.M.) appeared having a distributing range of 2.18-9.60%, rendering a mean value of 4.33%. To promote species diversity, several methods are suggested, such as prevention of soil acidification, selecting nationally-grown trees from moist soil or valleys for afforestation, preventing species appearing due to urbanization or excessive growth, protecting the understory vegetation and species with hygropreference, and managing the forest to maintain a multi-layered vegetation structure.

Swallowing impairment is a frequent complication following stroke. The characteristics of swallowing impairment with stork patient can facilitate identification of individuals at risk of dysphagia would be of great helpful. The present study examined oropharyngeal swallowing impairment with subacute stroke patients using the Modified Barium Swallowing Impairment Profile(MBSImP). The 49 consecutive patients with the supratentorial stroke met inclusion criteria for the present study. A retrospective review was performed of patients who underwent the videofluoroscopic swallowing study(VFSS). Of Stroke patients, 95.9% exhibited abnormal function of lip closure. 98% and 57.1 % shown abnormal tongue function and lingual motion, respectively. Oral residue was present in 51% and delayed pharyngeal response was present in 89.9%. In addition, abnormal laryngeal and hyoid excursion was seen in 42.9% and 87.8%, respectively. Abnormal function of soft palate elevation was present in 18.4% and abnormal epiglottic movement was seen in 4.1%. 30.6% of 30.6% of these patients exhibited abnormal laryngeal closure. All of the stroke patients(100%) in this study exhibited abnormal pharyngeal stripping wave and pharyngoesophageal segment opening. Abnormal tongue base retraction and oral reside were present 91.8%, respectively. The results suggest that stroke patient is more likely to exhibit reduced swallowing functions including lip closure, tongue control, initiation of pharyngeal swallow, anterior hyoid motion, tongue base retraction, pharyngeal residue and pharyngoesophageal contraction. Therefore, these data could provide valid and precise information regarding physiological evidence to delineate symptoms of dysphagia in this stroke cohort. Future studies should explore the bolus effect in the swallowing impairment.
