A Study of Ontology-based Context Modeling in the Area of u-Convention (온톨로지 기반 상황인지 모델링 연구: u-Convention을 중심으로)

  • Context-awareness as a key technology of ubiquitous computing needs a context model that understands and processes situational information coming from diverse sensors and devices, and can be applied diversely in various domains. Semantic web based ontologies use structured standard format and express meaning of information, so it is possible to recognize effectively context-awareness situations, allowing the system to share information and understand situation by inference. In this paper, we propose a layered ontology model to support generality and scaleability of the context-awareness system, and applied the model to u-Convention domain. In addition, we propose a effective reasoning method to handle compound situation by combining OWL-DL and SWRL rules.

Context Centrality in Distributions of Advertising Messages and Online Consumer Behavior

  • Purpose: As moment-based marketing messages (i.e., messages related to current moments or event), companies put significant investments to distribute TV advertising related to external moments in a retail environment. While the literature offers strong support for the value of distributions of context-based messaging to advertisers, less attention has been given to how to design those messages to effectively communicate across channels. This research adds a new dimension of analysis to the study of advertising context and its cross-channel effects on online consumer behavior. Research Design, Data and Methodology: A system-of-equations Tobit regression model was adopted using data collected from an advertising agency that consists of 1,223 TV ads aired during the Rio Olympics and NCAA, tagging from consumers, and a text analysis. Results: First, TV ads with high centrality of context lead to lower online search behavior and higher online social actions. Second, how brands can design messages more effectively was explored by using product information as a moderator that could improve the impact of context-based TV advertisements. Conclusions: Given that expenses in traditional channels are still one of the biggest channel management decisions, it is critical to understand how consumer engagement varies by design of context-based TV advertising.

  • The advance of wireless telecommunication and observation technologies leads developing sensor and sensor network for serving the context information continuously. Besides, in order to understand and cope with the context awareness based on the sensor network, it is becoming important issue to deal with plentiful data transmitted from various sensors. Therefore, we propose a context awareness system to deal with the plentiful sensor data in a vast area such as the prevention of a forest fire, the warning system for detecting environmental pollution, and the analysis of the traffic information, etc. The proposed system consists of the context acquisition to collect and store various sensor data, the knowledge base to keep context information and context log, the rule manager to process context information depending on user defined rules, and the situation information manager to analysis and recognize the context, etc. The proposed system is implemented for managing renewable energy data management transmitted from a large scale area.

  • A number of context information is shared through social network service(SNS). Among them, we focused on the information which is rarely shared for various reasons. The result indicated that users prefer to avoid certain types of context information because of: 1)containing socially unacceptable content, 2)laking of desire for disclosure, and 3)potential risk of privacy. Concerning privacy concern, it was found that users developed their own management strategy to control context information rather than employing existing system features. Drawing on Communication Privacy Management(CPM) theory, we analyzed findings and suggested guidelines for system design.

  • According to much research on cognitive science, the impact of the scene-context on human visual search in real-world images could be as important as the saliency. Therefore, this study proposed a method of Adaptive Control of Thought-Rational (ACT-R) modeling of visual search in real-world images, based on saliency and scene-context. The modeling method was developed by using the utility system of ACT-R to describe influences of saliency and scene-context in real-world images. Then, the validation of the model was performed, by comparing the data of the model and eye-tracking data from experiments in simple task in which subjects search some targets in indoor bedroom images. Results show that model data was quite well fit with eye-tracking data. In conclusion, the method of modeling human visual search proposed in this study should be used, in order to provide an accurate model of human performance in visual search tasks in real-world images.

  • The object of this paper is to design a school-zone safety management system based on context-aware, integrated with computing technology. When it occurs to kidnap of elementary school students, the monitoring device creates context information through a combination object extraction and context-aware technology and alarm administrator about an emergency situation. In addition, the proposed system that requires a human perspective, a railroad crossing, statistics research of traffic, and a variety of applications such as factory automation systems can be used to be the best choice.

  • This study was performed by the literature review on housing of the aged in Korea with social constructionism perspective. This kind of research may be utilized as a theoretical framework for performance of any systems of housing for the aged. In terms of structural context, the value of conventional custom of filial piety thoughts and duty for family are being collapsed, which nay be suitable to the change of society, should be considered for positive acceptance of changes in ideology. In terms of institutional context, a method to grope for housing for the aged should be established through amicable cooperation between organizations of legalization concerned. In terms of organizational context, there is no organization that exclusively concern housing for the aged until now, thus, development of concrete manual is required for jobs of service in current department of policy for the aged. In terms of operational context, the service may include the understanding of characteristics of the aged and design of housing may also change the service of administration, and as cooperation in the local community care systems may change the service to the aged in the field. Connection of these services and operation of these organizations nay be required in the field to manage housing. Finally in terms of intersubjective context, as the form and method of housing management service is important, with understanding of the social meaning and importance on the role of manager.

  • Context-Aware is the most important facts to reason a personalized and optimized service and to provide it to user. In the previous researches, user and surrounding environment were main facts of Context-Aware and middleware or center server has been proposed to support Context-Aware. In the daily space(for example, home, office, Car, etc), interactions between user and service can be a important facts of Context-Aware. In this paper, Context Autogenesis service model is introduced, simplified the Context-Aware process and designed the middleware which performs decentralize management for Context-Aware information of user's portable devices, so that problems occurred during the management and operation of existing Context-Aware system can be minimized and supporting user anonymity

  • Recently, feasible services in ubiquitous computing environment are commonly based on context -aware computing. With the concept of context-awareness we can imagine more effective way to measure human being's daily stress and provide anti-stress services. Our study introduces logical and methodological approach to manage the stress through the development of stress index. From the practical perspectives, we also designed a business model for u-SMC, which is a profitable organization specialized in providing stress measurement services and personalized anti-stress services by utilizing the stress index model.
