  • Objectives: Adolescents are at risk of suicide. As suicide is a multifactorial process, risk and protective factors are relevant constructs for suicide prediction. This study explored the effects of risk and protective factors on suicidal ideation in adolescents on the island of São Miguel (Azores). Methods: A sample of 750 adolescents (male: n=358; 47.7%; mean age=14.67 years; standard deviation=1.85 years) from the island of São Miguel (Azores) completed several measures related to suicidal ideation and associated factors. Using a cross-sectional design, this study conducted descriptive, correlational, predictive, mediation, and moderation analyses. Results: Adolescents generally displayed high levels of risk and protective factors; an indicative proportion exhibited significant suicidal ideation with females presenting the greatest vulnerability. Furthermore, the results highlight that depression is the best predictor of suicidal ideation, however, the association between these variables is mediated. Conclusion: The data corroborate that the suicidal reality of adolescents in the Autonomous Region of the Azores is worrisome. Having substantiated the complexity of the suicidal context in young people in the present research, the need to continue studying risk/protective factors in this area is supported.

  • The needs of strategic approach toward the usage of the Internet in corporate context are increasingly important as digital economy changes the way of doing business. However, companies are not easily taking the opportunity since the strategic use of the Internet is difficult because of the conflicts in distribution, business process, organization structure, etc. The Internet strategy applicable to companies in a generic context is proposed by identifying the CSFs (Critical Sucess Factors) in exploiting the potential of the internet. CSFs are derived by the previous study and case analysis, from which two most important factors are chosen based on a survey. In the survey, the ranking of the significance of the 8 CFSs from the 25 cases is questioned to the internet experts. Then a $2{\times}$2$ matrix is designed to find the optimal area for a company to be successful in the Internet usage. The strategy suggested here appears to be the shifting strategy in order to be in the optimal area in using the Internet strategically.

  • This study aims to establish a research model to see how cultural differences affect negotiation outcomes. People from different countries tend to communicate in slightly different ways. So Recognizing the cultural differences in global businesses is an important preparation process and strategy. If such preparations are not made before doing business with companies in other cultures, many conflicts could arise in the negotiation process and even the negotiations could break down. Therefore, it is important to recognize cultural differences and establish appropriate strategies in international negotiations, and it is necessary to take a look at the factors that affect them one by one. For the purpose of this study, Cultural differences based on Edward Hall's context theory and Personal characteristics were set as moderator variables. and The EU countries(low context cultures) and the Korea(high context cultures) were sampled to study the effects of Negotiation strategy(Problem-Solving Approach).

  • Various information and communication technologies (ICT) and electronic government (e-Government) projects have been planted in hopes of economic and social growth in developing economies. These types of ventures usually involve working in societies with their own unique cultures in various aspects that often cause "custom ways" of planning, implementing, coordinating, and controlling in IT projects, thus playing a grand role in determining the success of IT projects. Due to a lack of understanding of local cultural factors and a deficiency of cultural risk evaluation models, however, many IT projects especially in the context of developing economies face failure. This study investigates the major cultural factors involved in IT projects and their effects on IT projects in developing economies. The framework is validated using the United Nations Development Programme's (UNDP) information and communication technology (ICT) and e-Government project cases of two countries in Central Asia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. This study will help project managers develop management practices and strategies associated with the cultural factors they face during the various stages of their IT projects in their specific contexts.

  • Background: Organizational changes that involve healthcare hospital departments and care services of health districts, and ongoing technological innovations and developments in society increasingly expose healthcare workers (HCWs) to work-related stress (WRS). Minimizing occupational exposure to stress requires effective risk stress assessment and management programs. Methods: The authors conducted an integrated analysis of stress sentinel indicators, an integrated analysis of objective stress factors of occupational context and content areas, and an integrated analysis between nurses and physicians of hospital departments and care services of health districts in accordance with a multidimensional validated tool developed in Italy by the National Network for the Prevention of Work-Related Psychosocial Disorders. The purpose of this retrospective observational study was to detect and analyze in different work settings the level of WRS resulting from organizational changes implemented by hospital healthcare departments and care services of health districts in a sample of their employees. Results: The findings of the study showed that hospital HCWs seemed to incur a medium level risk of WRS that was principally the result of work context factors. The implementation of improvement interventions focused on team development, safety training programs, and adopting an ethics code for HCWs, and it effectively and significantly reduced the level of WRS risk in the workplace. Conclusion: In this study HCW resulted to be exposed to occupational stress factors susceptible to reduction. Stress management programs aimed to improve work context factors associated with occupational stress are required to minimize the impact of WRS on workers.
