Nowadays minimalism has influence on Korean Architecture and Interior Architecture at the turning of new generatiov. Minimalism is a plural phenomenon that has developed from Modernism to Contemporary but there is the tendency to define minimalism within Architecture and Art. Also it is a fact that there are many disordered minimal aspects in Architecture. This study is started from accurate understanding the mistakes in the field of Interior Architecture, that are brought by the elapse of time, and analogizing the circumstances of Interior Architecture in the field of Architecture. Especially the purpose of this study is to grasp the relation between the minimal characteristics of Korean traditional Architecture and the stagnancy of Korean Architecture. Under the assumption that the characteristics of minimalism exist in Korean tradition, this study contents the characteristics of minimalism in western modernism to analyze the contemporary Korean Architecture and interior Architecture that the assumption is appled to.

The purpose of this study is to find out the High-Tech characteristics in interior of Korean contemporary architecture. To achieve the purpose of this study, the major contents are as follows: 1. Various kinds discussion are brought up to the table about modern social phenomenons that are practically difficult sometimes even impossible to predict in field of architecture. At the very moment, 'landscape' emerged as an important concept defining contemporary architecture a very different way. Architects have and still are processing various experiments with the changed concept of 'landscape' as it became new means to construct reality. In modern cities that have possibility and potential energy, many architects have proposed 'Landscape architecture' as an architecture mode that have indeterminacy and open to all possibilities. The present study analyzes the characteristics of landscaping that appear in contemporary architecture and interior space in recent years, and present landscape as a new possibility in interior space.

The purpose of this study is to search for the characteristics of the theory of 'placeness' permeated through contemporary museum architecture in Korea, and hereby to prove the possibility of coping with the modernity in Korean architecture. In this study the theory of 'placeness' which is asserted by Christian Norberg Schultz has been adopted in debating contemporary architecture in Korea. Therefor the theory of 'placeness' has been researched to get an angle of vision on the proof of coping with the modernity in Korean architecture. Seven contemporary museum architecture which have been completed since 1990 have been examined in the view of morphology, topology, and typology which are the major factors of 'placeness'. Throughout this case study, the post-modernity in museum architecture in Korea has been proved, which establishes that the 'placeness' is one of the alternatives for contemporary architecture in Korea.

This study aims to analyze the multiple meaning of color variously expressed in contemporary architecture. Nowadays heterogeneity, plurality and ephemerality of modem society have been well presented in contemporary architecture. The phenomenal characteristic of color is so appropriate to express the unfixed and immaterialized attributes of contemporary architecture that it can make color a major element of architecture, which, in the past, used to be a minor element for the lack of materiality. Through the analysis of contemporary important building projects in terms of color, it can be concluded that the architectural application of color shows multiple meanings as follows; phenomenal expression, visualization of complex programs and embodiment of design process, reflection of context and control of users' mentality. At the same time, these multiple meanings are complexly presented in a single building project.

The paradigm of contemporary times became different from paradigm of modem times. The change of paradigm is caused by the side effect of paradigm of pre-times. It could be said that contemporary paradigm is pluralism. In the forms of contemporary building and interior design, the informal form is the result of pluralism. This study is researching and analyzing the informal design tendency in the interior space composition of contemporary architecture. the 1950's free form movement, 1960's Informal movement and pluralism after 1970's affected the latest informal forms. The tendencies of contemporary informal design are organic-degital tendency and deconstructive tendency. Along this two kinds of tendencies, I studied the specific characters in expression and analyzed some natural-degital, deconstructive building.

This study examines how various elements characteristic of the traditional Japanese architecture are applied to contemporary architectural designs in japan. The issue of how to incorporate cultural tradition into architectural design has become one of central questions cast on modern architects. In this sense, the Japanese contemporary architecture has often been touted as infusing Japanese traditional elements into modern artifacts both functionally and aesthetically. That is, while Japanese architecture encompasses the essentials of Western modern techniques and styles, it obviously embodies Japanese tradition. Through the examination of various contemporary buildings in Japan, this study specifically explores how the vernacular forms and elements unique to Japan are reinterpreted and reinvigorated in contemporary architectural designs.

The purpose of this research is to understand and explore the view of the current architectural and interior design approach through Critical Regionalism created as one of the movements opposed to Contemporary. Critical Regionalism as a critical view about the contemporary architecture is based on integrated critical thinking toward a built environment surrounded by regional facts such as natural environment, materials, light, weather, unique culture where exist the specific places. The architectural themes of Critical Regionalism based on Kenneth Frampton's view and interpretation about contemporary architecture can be understood as follows; the concept of the place, tectonics, expression by abstraction and phenomenologlcal interpretation. Critical Regionalism has two distinctive features, which are the connection to the Contemporary and critical aspects to develop processes of an architectural design.

The point of this study consists in analysing influences of the postmodern design in the contemporary architecture. Since the modern architecture, new concept of architectural design has been materialized in the Late-Modern and the High-tech style but the revolutionary changes has been tempted by the postmodern architects who introduced the Rhetorical language in the contemporary architecture. In concrete terms postmodern architecture divided architectural elements from existing function (according to U. Eco, it is the primary function of architecture) and gave another function which is the secondary function or the symbolic function or architecture. And the methods of deviation from the conventional code is exactly the rhetorical expression technique which governed the history of art in Europe (but these technique is more intensively applied in the postmodern architecture) So this study is purposed to analyse the different rhetorical "figyres" regarding the syntax and semantic of the architectural langyage, and particularly to approach to the basic mechanism of the New Design Concept in the Contemporary Archiecture.chiecture.
