컨테이너터미널의 하역 데이터베이스 분석에 의한 하역시뮬레이션 모델 구축에 관한 연구 - 일본의 HICCT를 중심으로 - (Study on Construction of Simulation Model based on Analysis of Container Handling Database - A case of HICCT in Japan -)

  • 최근의 컨테이너 수송환경은 컨테이너 선사간 인수합병, 동맹화, 컨테이너선의 대형화와 하주의 요구에 대응하기 위한 복합수송체계 등 급속하게 변화하고 있다. 이에 컨테이너터미널에 요구되어지는 서비스로서 항만의 대수심화, 하역의 신속화, 이용료의 저가격화 등을 예로들 수 있고, 이러한 서비스가 제공되지 않을 경우 컨테이너 선사는 컨테이너터미널의 기항을 기피하게 된다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 컨테이너터미널에 있어서 하역의 효율화와 기능성 평가를 위해 실제 컨테이너터미널의 하역 데이터 분석을 통하여 하역기기, 야드샤시 및 외부트럭의 관리에 대한 프로세스 정보를 추출하여 하역 효율화에 저해가 되는 하역기기 운전원의 스킬과 트러블 등의 요인을 분석하였다. 또한, 추출한 프로세스 정보를 활용하여 페트리 넷을 이용해 컨테이너 하역시뮬레이션 모델을 구축하고 하역기기의 컨테이너 하역작업을 시뮬레이션하여 그 유효성을 확인하였다.

A Simulation Model for Improving the Productivity of Container Handling in the Container Terminal

  • The productivity of container terminal is determined by its various operation methods. This paper aims at finding out the factors to enhance the productivity of container handling of quay crane, using simulation technique. Three levels of decision making in terminal operation, strategy, and tactics and operation are selected for defining parameters of simulation The result of the simulation and test shows that the significant factors to improve the productivity are the stack height of container, block dispersion and the distance in yard planning for shipment. Decision making in the operation level, however, is of significance in the mixed condition of strategic and tactical level. The result shows meaningful guidelines in decision making under strategic, tactical and operation level.

항만 컨테이너 터미널에서의 RFID 적용을 위한 시뮬레이션 연구 (A Simulation Study for RFID Application to the Port Container Terminal)

  • In this study, we propose an RFID based container terminal operation process. Field tests are conducted for 900 MHz (truck identification) tag and 433 MHz RFID (container identification/e-seal) tag at an Incheon container terminal to verify possibility of applying RFID in the container terminal gate. To evaluate effect of applying RFID in the container terminal operation, simulation models for current and RFID based container terminals are developed using ARENA. Simulations are carried out using industrial field data and the result indicates that performance of the container terminal can be prominently improved after RFID application.

  • 본 연구에서는 수직블록배치형태를 가지는 자동화 컨테이너 터미널을 대상으로 안벽과 야드의 연계작업을 수행하는 이송장비에 대한 시뮬레이션 모델을 수립하였다. 일반적으로 컨테이너 터미널은 안벽장비의 생산성으로 효율성이 평가되며, 안벽장비의 생산성을 최대화하기 위해서는 이송장비와 야드장비의 원활한 지원이 이루어져야 한다. 이중 이송장비는 안벽장비와 직접적으로 연계작업을 수행하므로 안벽장비의 생산성에 많은 영향을 미치는 요소이며, 운행대수와 주행방식에 따라 작업성능 또한 매우 달라지게 된다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 이송장비의 작업생산성을 평가할 수 있는 시뮬레이션 모델을 개발하였으며, 수립된 모델을 통해 가상의 환경에서 다양한 이송장비의 운영에 따른 안벽장비의 생산성을 분석해 보았다.

  • This paper presents an efficient finite analysis model and a simulation-based reliability analysis method for stowage device system failure of a container crane with respect to lateral load. A quasi-static analysis model is introduced to simulate the nonlinear resistance characteristics and failure of tie-down and stowage pin, which are the main structural stowage devices of a crane. As a reliability analysis method, a subset simulation method is applied considering the uncertainties of later load and mechanical characteristic parameters of stowage devices. An efficient Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method is applied to sample random variables. Analysis result shows that the proposed model is able to estimate the probability of failure of crane system effectively which cannot be calculated practically by crude Monte Carlo simulation method.

Development of Preliminary Design Model for Ultra-Large Container Ships by Genetic Algorithm

  • In this study, we carried out a precedent investigation for an ultra-large container ship, which is expected to be a higher value-added vessel. We studied a preliminary optimized design technique for estimating the principal dimensions of an ultra-large container ship. Above all, we have developed optimized dimension estimation models to reduce the building costs and weight, using previous container ships in shipbuilding yards. We also applied a generalized estimation model to estimate the shipping service costs. A Genetic Algorithm, which utilized the RFR (required freight rate) of a container ship as a fitness value, was used in the optimization technique. We could handle uncertainties in the shipping service environment using a Monte-Carlo simulation. We used several processes to verify the estimated dimensions of an ultra-large container ship. We roughly determined the general arrangement of an ultra-large container ship up to 1500 TEU, the capacity check of loading containers, the weight estimation, and so on. Through these processes, we evaluated the possibility for the practical application of the preliminary design model.

DEA및 시뮬레이션에 의한 컨테이너 터미널의 효율성 분석 (An Efficiency Analysis for the Korea Container Terminals by the DEA/Simulation Approach)

  • The traditional measures of a container port (or terminal) efficiency such as crane productivity, cargo throughput, etc. were generally presenting the partial efficiency since they evaluated only each individual factor and based on cross-sectional data. To overcome this problem, and in an effort to help port authorities develop a winning strategy in the increasingly competitive container transportation market, this Paper develops a meaningful set of benchmarks that will set the standard for best practices. In particular, this paper proposed a combined method to merge the DEA and simulation technique over time. To illustrate the usefulness of the proposed combined DEA/simulation model, this paper used the panel data of the four Gwangyang container terminals and seven Busan container terminals in Korea over the four-year period of 1999 through 2002.

  • Recently, the usage of containers in marine transportation is rapidly increasing. The problem of ship stability is important because of its direct influence to the loss of the human-life, ship, and merchandise. However, the assessment for ship stability during container loading/unloading in port is dependent on human experience only. On the other hand, the emerging information and communication technologies of shipbuilding industrial environments are rapidly changing. To respond to the situation, a new paradigm has been matured with new concepts such as the concrete method. Especially, all the efforts are shown to be concentrated to realize the concept of Simulation Based Design(SBD) based on three dimensional Computer Aided Design(CAD) model. In this paper, ship model-based simulation methodology for design and operation of ship is suggested, and for the verification of suggested methodology, the system for stability assessment of ship during container loading/unloading was developed using ENVISION, a general-purpose simulation system. The developed system consists of geometric modeling subsystem, basic calculation subsystem, and Computer Aided Engineering(CAE) subsystem. In addition, interface to CAE/CAD /simulation system such as SIKOB and ENVISION is provided.

  • The objective of this paper is to analyze the combined productivity at automated container terminal. We present a simulation model for transport vehicle that perform the container transportation between apron and yard with a perpendicular yard layout. Usually, the efficiency of container terminal is evaluated by productivity of container cranes at apron, and though there are enough support of transport vehicles and yard cranes, can improve the productivity of container cranes. Especially, transport vehicle is very important factor in productivity of container cranes and has variable work productivity according to loading and unloading situation. Therefore, a method that can estimate combined productivity of equipment is required. We performed various simulation experiment and analyzed combined productivity to estimate the required number of equipment.

  • 컨테이너 물동량 증가와 컨테이너선의 대형화에 따라서 항만 하역장비는 지속적으로 변화하고 있다. 본 연구는 항만 하역장비 가운데 컨테이너크레인의 기계적 생산성을 상세히 평가하기 위해 개발된 시뮬레이션 모델을 소개한다. 모델은 컨테이너크레인의 메커니즘으로 싱글 및 듀얼 트롤리 방식을, 스프레더 유형으로 싱글, 트윈, 탠덤 방식을 고려하고 컨테이너크레인의 규모와 속도 등에 관련된 세부 사양을 입력받아 기구학적 특성을 구현한다. 또한 외부의 물리적 제약으로 선박의 크기, 컨테이너의 적재위치와 무게를 고려한다. 본 모델은 다양한 입력변수가 파라미터 (parameter)로 분리되어 실험 조건을 편리하게 설정할 수 있으며, 객체 지향적으로 설계 개발되어 향후 새롭게 개발되는 장비 유형이나 기존 장비의 변화를 유연하게 수용할 수 있다.
