  • In order to improve cut-flower export packaging on the distribution process, newly developed T-type(trapezoid type) container was tested and evaluated on the viewpoints of the protection, workability, and economics. T-type container performed better in protection and workability comparing to 0201 and modified 0201 type containers. Especially, load efficiency of T-type container was 33 percent higher than others, indicating that total distribution costs from Korea to Japan can be saved up to 1.7million dollars per year. T-type container is also advantageous because of its superior display performance and environmentally friendly design. We recommend that T-type container is suitable for most of cut-flowers which are usually horizontally packed such as roses, chrysanthemums, and lilies.

  • This study analyzed the fluid state around a container crane according to a wind direction when a wind load was applied to a container crane. The container crane for this research is a model of a 50-ton class used broadly in the current ports. The dimension of an external fluid field is $500m{\times}200m$. This study considered the change of a wind velocity according to an altitude in a criterion of a wind velocity, 50m/s, applying a power series law. An incident angle applied to an interval of 30 degrees in $0^{\circ}C$ ${\sim}$ $180^{\circ}C$ and this study carried out a computation fluid dynamics using a CFX 10. In this study, we indicate the wind pressure and coefficient according to the height and section figure of each member. In addition, we suggest the wind load according to a wind direction.

  • In recent years, Container Security Device(CSD) using GPS & GLONASS to improve logistics efficiency are being extensively researched. The purpose of this paper is to examine the performance development antenna usable cargo container security transport. Antenna developed by study were optimized to match logistics environment apply to GPS/GLONASS dual frequency for monitering system. The measure of antenna have confirmation about frequency characteristics each 1575.42MHz, 1602MHz and VSWR is 2:1 measured in return loss -9.54dB. Reliability of this antenna has been verified about GPS/GLONASS through test-operation between the south korea and Russia.

  • The recent fire incident in an elementary school of Chonan city causes the media focus on the fire safety of residential container buildings. In this study, real fire tests were conducted in this kind of buildings. Fire temperature and radiant heat flux were measured, in order to investigate the hazard-reduction effects during the fire emergency of residential container buildings. According to the test results, flash over occur in 10 minutes, peak fire temperature was $935.5^{\circ}C$, peak radiant heat flux was $24.99kW/m^2$ at 8minutes after residential container building fire.

  • In this paper the real life operation of ULCS (Ultra Large Container Ships) is presented from the point of view of shipmasters. The paper provides interpretation of results of questionnaire filled by masters of large container ships during Tools for Ultra Large Container Ships (TULC) EUI FP7 project. This is done in a way that results of questionnaire are further reviewed and commented by experienced master of ULCS. Following phenomena are subject of questionnaire and further discussed in the paper: parametric rolling, slamming, whipping, springing, green water and rogue waves. Special attention is given to the definition of rough sea states as well as to measures that ship masters take to avoid them as well as to the manoeuvring in heavy seas. The role of the wave forecast and weather routing software is also discussed.

  • The design of the container stacking yard influences significantly the productivity of handling operations in port container terminals. This study proposes methods for determining specifications of the yard considering the travel distance of vehicles and the storage capacity of yards. For a given length and width of a yard, it is discussed how to determine the layout and the dimension of yard blocks. The alternatives of the yard layout are evaluated by using a simulation study.

  • High-performance computing (HPC) provides to researchers a powerful ability to resolve problems with intensive computations, such as those in the math and medical fields. When an HPC platform is provided as a service, users may suffer from unexpected obstacles in developing and running applications due to restricted development environments and dependencies. In this context, operating system level virtualization can be a solution for HPC service to ensure lightweight virtualization and consistency in Dev-Ops environments. Therefore, this paper proposes three types of typical HPC structure for container environments built with HPC container and Docker. The three structures focus on smooth integration with existing HPC job framework, message passing interface (MPI). Lastly, the performance of the structures is analyzed with High Performance Linpack benchmark from the aspect of performance degradation in network communications under Docker.

  • RMQC, rail mounted quay crane, lifts and moves large container by means of hoist and trolley motion on the dock. Our company is trying to develop advanced RMQC applying the concepts of elevator hoist and container conveyer for the automation and high efficiency in handling the boxes. Prior to the development of new products, it is necessary to check the capacity of conventional crane for reference. The program simulates container-handling rates and gives some design factors for the conventional cranes.

  • The tendency of wrinkling formation on the flange of a deep-drawn rectangular container was investigated experimentally under different process conditions. Such process variables as blank size, sheet thickness, blank-holding force, and depth of drawing are chosen to examine their effects on the flange wrinkles of the products. Number and amplitudes of the wrinkles are measured along the periphery of the flange and compared between each case of process condition.
