  • The purpose of this study is to identify a causal relationship among green consumer behavior, environmental knowledge and environmental attitudes of students at the university of education. A total of 366 copies of questionnaires were used for the data analysis; 31 copies were excluded due to lack of response to any given question. To ensure the reliability and validity of the questions, technical statistics were performed, such as frequency, ratio, average, standard deviation, skewness, and kurtosis via SPSS 15.0, item-total correlation and the totality, and reliability analysis. A structural analysis was undertaken via AMOS 7.0 in a bootstrapping method in order to perform a path analysis among variables as well as to assess the suitability of the model. The findings of the study were led to the following conclusions: First, the causal model among green consumer behavior, environmental knowledge and environmental attitudes of students at the university of education is suitable to the empirical analysis on research variables. Second, the environmental attitudes of students at the university of education has a direct, positive effect on green consumer behavior. Third, the environmental knowledge of students at the university of education has an indirect, positive effect on green consumer behavior.

The means of new generation and older generation are higher in consumer role performances than other generations and are especially doing better in the roles of estimator and manager. 3) consumption-oriented attitudes illustrate the variation of consumer role performance and the stronger the rational or tenacious consumption-oriented attitude, the higher the consumer role performance and the higher the rational or tenacious consumption-oriented attitude, and the lower the passive consumption-oriented attitude, the higher the consumer performance. In purchaser and manager role, the more positive the consumption and the higher the rational consumption-oriented attitudes, the better the consumer role performance.

  • This study examines the role of consumer perception of social presence in e-tailing websites. The study proposes that the perception of social presence influences the variables that are important for e-tailers to build a relationship with consumers, which are the attitudes of consumers toward an e-tailer and patronage intentions toward the e-tailer. This study hypothesizes that the attitudes of consumers are influenced by individual perceptions of social presence that guide their patronage intentions. Consumer trust and their affective states are hypothesized to serve as mediators in the relationship between consumer perception of social presence and the attitudes toward an e-tailer. Sixty-one female students were used to test the proposed model. The findings from regression and mediation analyses supported all hypotheses, suggesting that the perception of social presence plays a significant role in consumer shopping habits for apparel: consumer perception of social presence influences consumer trust and affective states that modify attitudes toward an e-tailer and consumer patronage intentions. The theoretical and managerial implications for apparel e-tailers are discussed.

  • With increasing concerns about environmental issues that can result from apparel and textile disposal, the recycling methods for discarded fashion products have gained significant attention. As the influential drivers of consumer purchasing and consuming behaviors, fashion innovativeness and fashion involvement can play important roles in forming consumer attitudes toward apparel recycling. The purpose of this study was to (1) investigate consumer attitudes toward three different methods of apparel recycling including resale, reform, and donation, (2) examine the effects of fashion innovativeness and fashion involvement on consumers' apparel recycling attitudes, and (3) identify gender difference in the relationships among fashion innovativeness, fashion involvement, and recycling attitudes. Using a web-based survey, data were collected from 281 Korean consumers who were in their 20s and 30s. Overall, both male and female consumers revealed the most favorable attitudes toward apparel recycling through donation, followed by reform, and resale. The findings suggest that consumer traits, such as fashion innovativeness and fashion involvement, are important factors predicting male consumers' apparel recycling behaviors. Those male consumers who perceive fashion as important were more interested in apparel recycling than those males who put low importance on fashion. Male fashion innovators were less likely to recycle their unused and old apparel items. Further studies identifying antecedents of female consumers' attitudes toward apparel recycling are warranted.

  • This study analyzed the effects of consumer knowledge and attitudes toward spending on environment-friendly agricultural products. Using data collected from 486 Ulsan housewives, results showed each score of consumer knowledge on and attitude to environment-friendly agricultural products was the middle level, and that mean monthly expenditure on environment-friendly agricultural products was 91,193 won. A multiple regression analysis was computed and indicated that higher spending on environmentally friendly agricultural products was related to high levels of consumer knowledge, positive attitudes to environment-friendly agricultural products, higher levels of household income, being a housewife in terms of occupation position, and post-graduate education levels. Furthermore, results also implied that consumer knowledge and attitudes to environment-friendly agricultural products were of greater influences than the demographic variables in their influence over spending on environment-friendly agricultural products.

  • This study attempts to analyze the propensity for conspicuous consumption of the adolescent consumers and related variables such as socio-economic variables, consumer experience, materialism and consumption-oriented attitudes to provide a basis for the development of consumer education program. The survey of this research was conducted by means of self admistered questionnaire with 788 adolescent consumers attending middle and high school located in Ulsan. The results of this research were as follows: 1) The average level of the propensity for conspicuous consumption was a little high median point. This implies that consumer education is necessary for the adolescent consumer in order to reduce the level of conspicuous consumption. 2) The adolescent consumers' propensity for conspicuous consumption varies significantly according to the socio-economic variables such as sex, grade, the allowance interval, the amount of allowance, the mother's education and the subjective level of household consumption. 3) The propensity for conspicuous consumption is positively correlated with materialism and the consumption-oriented attitudes. The consumer experience is positively correlated with materialism and not significantly correlated with the propensity for conspicuous consumption and the consumption-oriented attitudes. Materialism is positively correlated with the consumption-oriented attitudes. 4) According to the results of the regression analysis examining the influences of variables affecting the propensity for conspicuous consumption, the relative importance of the variables are in the order of; materialism, the consumption-oriented attitudes, sex and the amount of allowance. • The purpose of this study was to examine the ethical attitudes of consumers in consumption situations by using the consumer ethics scale(CES). Self-administrated questionnaires were completed by 492 consumers, and the resulting data were analysed by frequency, chi-square, one-way ANOVA, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and cluster analysis. We found four different groups of consumers were identified according to their ethical attitudes in consumption situations: 1) the unethical onlooker consumer group, 2) the socialized unethical consumer group, 3) the ethical consumer group, and 4) the severely unethical consumer group. The unethical onlooker consumer group was most widespread prevalent among university students who were in their 20s and down or under, and who received spending money from their parents, and the socialized unethical consumer group was most prevailing prevalent among the higher educated consumers. The women who consumers slightly outnumbered men in an the ethical consumer group, slightly outnumbered the men who did, and many of the university-educated large income earners fell into this group consumed in that way as well. The severely unethical consumer group was quite uncommon among those who were at the age of 41 and up over, and not many of the higher educated people and larger income earners consumed in an the severely unethical consumer group, either. Thus, it's proven this study proves that in terms of the propensity to consume, the consumers' were different from one another in ethical attitudes and behaviors differ according to their demographic characteristics.
