선풍기의 날개 수에 따른 공기 유동해석 (Analysis of the Sir Flow due to the Number of Electric Fan Blades)

  • Air flow and its pressure at electric fan according to three, four and five blades are analyzed in this study. As the number of blades increases at the same condition of specification, air tends to converge and becomes natural wind but higher power is consumed. And the velocity of wind is decreased as the space between winds becomes narrow. The turbulent flow is happened in the center of the body of revolution and the kinetic energy becomes largest in case of three blades. The pressure is decreased than atmospheric pressure from fan to outlet. As the number of blades increases, the pressure drop becomes smaller and is smallest in case of the fan with three blades. As the study result, The electric fan with three blades is thought to be effective in view of power consumption and design.

  • A propeller type mistblower was designed and manufactured. The machine consisted of a 770 millimeters diameter propeller driven by the power take off of a tractor. It delivered 26,400 cubic meters of air per hour and has the outlet speed about 180 kilometers per hour. Spray liquid was injected at 30 bars pressure through hollow cone type nozzles which were located around the air outlet of the machine bya poston type pump. Power consumption of the machine was found to be 12.46 kilowatts and the effective forward travel speed was about 2.7 kilometers per hour. Upon spraying mango trees, it was shown that the density of spray partices was about 100 microns and consumed 3.12 liters per tree. Working speed in 6 meters row spacing mango orchard was about one hectare per hour.

  • When Automobile runs high velocity, it causes sleepy velocity profile then that generates lift force and drag force. Lift force reduce tire friction force. Drag force increase consumed power. For improve automobile performance, reduction of Lift force and Drag force was seriously considered. It measured experimently using wind tunnel, numerically using numerical analysis. Finite difference method is using difference equation and simplifed mesh. This method require less calculation time and computer power than other method.

  • Since discovery, NdFeB permanent magnet has replaced application of the conventional magnets rapidly because of its superior physical and mechanical properties. With increasing consumption of power combined with energy resource depletion, energy efficiency is becoming more and more inportant. According to recent reports, almost almost half of the electric power is consumed by motor, and NdFeB magnets which are the core component of the motor play a key role on improving energy efficiency of the devices. In parallel with finding alternatives energy resources, research works improving energy efficiecy have been conducted world wide. Althogh NdFeB magnets usage have been expanded to various applications, key materials such as Nd and Dy, resouces lean heavily on specific area, China. Magnetic industry revently experienced skyrocketing price fluctuatioin of rare earth at around 2008. Chineses government's regulations worsened the situation and arose a necessity to develop methods to minimize rare earth use. In this presentation, POSCO's recent research works on rare earth reduction is presented including novel powder alloying method using nitrate precursors. Also, future R&D plans for rare earth free magnets is briefly introduced as well.

  • In this paper, a silent discharge type ozonizer has been designed and fabricated for environment improvement. After that discharge and ozone generation characteristics in accordance with frequency of power supply and input voltage were investigated Consumed discharge un of silent discharge type ozonizer was calculated by computer program designed in "Sigma Hot 2000" program. The data needed for calculation was stored as ASCII file type from oscilloscope.

  • Electric arc furnace has consumed plenty of power. Hence electric arc furnace can be expected to use for demand side management. When electric arc furnace use for demand side management, electric arc furnace frequently occur a starting and a stop. Electric arc furnace irregularity change consumption of power. Due to character of time-varing and non-linear, electirc arc furnace has a problem with voltage quality(flicker, harmonics). Producted harmonic in electric art furnace is different any harmonic source because of electric arc furnace peculiar operating. Accordingly, analysis for generated harmonic in electric arc furnace operating is demanded. This paper analyze effect of harmonic by arc furnace operating.

  • An electric railway is unique system that electric trains consumed huge electric power are travelled and is much interested with EMC. There were several problems exceeding the standard in the frequency range of 9 kHz to 150 kHz because the radiation noises were moved the higher frequency range according to developing the power electronic technology. It is studied the analytic simulation for reducing noise level in terms of cables of the electric train and is experimentally approved the reduction effectiveness.

  • This paper analyzes the effect of the energy saving and evaluates the economics using High Efficiency lighting. About 18 percent (17,000GWh) of total power demands in Korea m consumed i]l the lighting field. There isa lot of energy potential that can be saved because the power demand isolwer relatively than the others parts. The existing lighting that its length and electric energy are 32[mm] and 40[w] can alternate with high efficiency lighting which its length and electric energy are 26[mm] and 32[w]. Two Lightings is measuring the illumination and the electric energy and then are analyzed into the effect of the lighting saving by measurement.

무늬목 단판의 원적외석 건조 특성 (The Characteristics of Far-infrared Radiation Drying of Decorative Veneer)

  • This research was carried out to obtain the fundamental data for the development of the technology and practical use of far-infrared radiation(IR) drying of quarter-sliced decorative veneers of walnut and red oak. The average drying rates of IR drying were about one and half to four times those of kiln drying and this tendency was prominent in thin veneer. The end wavinesses of the IR-dried veneers were smaller than those of kiln-dried veneers. These were largely recovered by the cold treatments after drying. The consumed electric power for IR drying was about one-fifth to two-fifthes compared to that for kiln drying.

  • A small hall thruster with a thrust of about 10 mN and a specific impulse of about 1500 s is being developed with an intent to control or maintain the orbits of small satellites. The total mass, consumed electric power and efficiency of the thruster are approximately 10 kg, 300W and 30%, respectively. The thruster system consists of a hall thruster with a cylindrical cross section, a power processing unit and a Xenon(Xe) gas feed system. Laboratory examination of the thruster performance finds that the thruster meets the design specification.
