Clinical fitting of soft contact lenses

  • The use of soft contact lenses for myopia correction is increasing in many countries. It is therefore important for contact lens practitioners to be properly educated in fitting these lenses. Before fitting lenses, it is important to consider the factors and procedures related to soft contact lens fitting, indications and contraindications of fitting soft contact lenses. In this article, the functions and activities involved in preliminary, fitting and delivery consultations will be presented.

패션관련 전시회 참가기업의 참가행태 분석 (An Analysis of Participating Style of Participating Company in Fashion Related Exhibition)

  • Various types of industry, from manufacturing industry to service industry, can be a subject of exhibition. So, subdivided studies about exhibition for each type of industry or field are necessary. However, there are still insufficient studies about them. Also, fashion industry related exhibitions should be classified differently from other industries' exhibitions because of their special features. Therefore, this study examines that how an exhibition is utilized as a promotion means of a company and the present condition of a fashion exhibition. It also compares a fashion exhibition with other industrial exhibitions to suggest the effective operations and the progressive promotion of the fashion exhibition. This study uses questionnaire from 140 companies for 5 exhibitions, which participated fashion related exhibitions. Data of this study is statistically analyzed using SPSS for window ver. 10.0 program. It also uses frequency, cross tabs, paired t-test, Independent Samples t-test. As a result of this study, fashion related companies' recognition of exhibitions has been increased. However; in terms of exhibition participation, attitudes such as pre-promotion or pre-education for the staff, who are in charge of the exhibition booths, and the outcome of the exhibition aren't maximized because the right understanding concerning exhibitions is lacking and long-term preparation is insufficient. Also, advertisement for the exhibitions isn't enough because of insufficient preparation and absence of pre-promotion, so consultation with promising buyers can't be activated. Even though there are consultations, the consultations don't have much effect.

명절 연휴기간 내 광주응급의료정보센터 이용현황 분석 - 설과 추석을 중심으로 - (A study of utilization pattern on emergency patients in Gwangju Emergency Medical Information Center during the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays)

  • Purpose : This study was conducted to understand the unforeseen phone calls placed through the 1339 emergency medical communication system by residents of the Gwangju/Jeonnam area during the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays. Methods : A descriptive research method was implemented using SPSS to analyze 9,047 reported and received consultation phone calls made during the 2008 Lunar New Year holiday (February 6-10) and the 2008 Chuseok holiday (September 13-15) for frequency and percentages. Results : Among the general characteristics of subjects during the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays, an examination of the distribution for gender showed more men than women and the distribution for age showed most subjects were thirties, followed by forties, and finally under ten years of age. According to the status of situational calls during the Lunar New Year holiday most were used for in the following order : providing resource information, misdialing and prank calls, and additional consultations. According to the status of situational calls during the Chuseok holiday most were used for in the following order : providing resource information, additional consultations, misdialing and prank calls. According to region most came from Gwangju Metropolitan City Bukgu, followed by Yeosu, Suncheon, and Mokpo in Jeonnam. According to callers, the majority were non-medical persons. According to time most were made between 9:01 and 12:00, while the fewest were made during 3:01 and 6:00. According to treatment department most were made in the following order : internal medicine, pharmacy, and pediatrics. Most medical resource information provided regarded areas outside the callers location. Conclusion : Emergency medical technician will play a central role in the emergency medical information system in the near future.

Scar Revision Surgery: The Patient's Perspective

  • Background Insufficient satisfaction outcome literature exists to assist consultations for scar revision surgery; such outcomes should reflect the patient's perspective. The aim of this study was to prospectively investigate scar revision patient satisfaction outcomes, according to specified patient-selection criteria. Methods Patients (250) were randomly selected for telephone contacting regarding scar revisions undertaken between 2007-2011. Visual analogue scores were obtained for scars pre- and post-revision surgery. Surgery selection criteria were; 'presence' of sufficient time for scar maturation prior to revision, technical issues during or wound complications from the initial procedure that contributed to poor scarring, and 'absence' of site-specific or patient factors that negatively influence outcomes. Patient demographics, scar pathogenesis (elective vs. trauma), underlying issue (functional/symptomatic vs. cosmetic) and revision surgery details were also collected with the added use of a real-time, hospital database. Results Telephone contacting was achieved for 211 patients (214 scar revisions). Satisfaction outcomes were '2% worse, 16% no change, and 82% better'; a distribution maintained between body sites and despite whether surgery was functional/symptomatic vs. cosmetic. Better outcomes were reported by patients who sustained traumatic scars vs. those who sustained scars by elective procedures (91.80% vs. 77.78%, P=0.016) and by females vs. males (85.52% vs. 75.36%, P<0.05), particularly in the elective group where males (36.17%) were more likely to report no change or worse outcomes versus females (16.04%) (P<0.01). Conclusions Successful scar revision outcomes may be achieved using careful patient selection. This study provides useful information for referring general practitioners, and patient-surgeon consultations, when planning scar revision.

수학학습 상담을 위한 진단 검사지 개발 연구 (Development of the Diagnostic Worksheet for Mathematics Academic Counseling)

  • 본 연구는 수학학습 상담 시 활용할 사전 진단 검사지를 개발하기 위한 연구이다. 이를 위하여 학생들을 진단하기 위한 발문들을 도출해 내어 검사지를 구성하고, 이에 대한 표준화 작업을 실시하여 초등 5~6학년용과 중등 1~2학년용의 진단 검사지를 제작하였다. 검사지는 총 3부로 나누어, 1부 수학학습심리, 2부 수학학습 방법, 3부 수학학습 개인 성향으로 구성하였다. 수학학습심리는 '수학학습능력 자신감', '수학불안', '수학학습 태도' 요인으로, 수학학습 방법은 '수학학습 자기관리'와 '수학학습 전략' 요인으로, 수학학습 개인 성향은 '수학학습 습관'과 '수학학습 관리 방법', '동기', '성향'을 묻는 문항으로 구성하였다. 이러한 진단 검사지는 학생들의 수학학습 상담을 위한 기초자료로 활용할 수 있다.

근로자 정기건강검진을 기초로 한 영양 및 건강관리 전산화 프로그램 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of a Computerized Nutritional and Health Guide Program Based on Periodic Health Examination at Work Sites)

  • In this study, a computerized nutritional and health guide program for workers was developed. The dietitian at the work site could utilize periodically conducted medical examination data to develop an effective health care counseling model based on the developed Nutritional and Health Guide Program. A personal computer (Pentium II PC MMX-150, 32MB RAM, 2.95 GB HDD) with Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Enterprise Edition and Microsoft Access 97 installed, was used. The Nutritional and Health Guide Program consisted of seven main menus and 43 sub-menus. Included in the main menu were Basic Information, Periodic Health Check-ups, Visitors' Consultations, Nutritional/Health Tips, Nutritional Education according to Diseases, Help and Exit. In the Periodic Health Check-up menu, dieticians could input the health examination data of employees and touch for the recommended treatments for diseases such as obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, hypertension and hepatitis. The Visitors'Consultation menu has been designed to compile health information about the employees who sought consultations. The Nutritional/Health Tips menu was designed to provide 14 kinds of programmed nutritional educational media and information. In the Nutritional Education According to Diseases menu, the dietitian could judge the subject's willingness to obtain treatment based on the Stage of Change Model. According, the content of the administered respective nutritional education was classified by stages. The Help menu, provide a chart of the method and procedure used as nutritional guidelines, by which the results of the health examination were classified as people in good health and those requiring special medical attention. The results of the evaluation of this program showed highly positive rates for usefulness (4.09), convenience (4.04), lettering size (4.02), interest (3.93), design (3.49). It also showed that 97.5% of the subjects thought that this program would be helpful for implementation of their company's nutritional educational program. Therefore, this menu could help dietitians plan, conduct, and evaluate their nutritional guidelines for employees. It is expected that The Nutritional and Health Guide Program developed in this study will play a role as a scientific and effective guide in conjunction with health examination results.

음성 기반 상담의 품질 평가를 위한 자동화 기법 (A Method of Automated Quality Evaluation for Voice-Based Consultation)

  • 언택트 시대의 시작으로, 온라인 산업의 성장 속도는 점차 빨라지고 있다. 온라인 산업이 성장할수록, 고객 관리에 대한 중요성은 높아지며, 그 접점에 존재하는 컨택센터 시장 역시 성장하고 있다. 언택트 시대의 주요 서비스 분야인 컨택센터의 업무가 노동 집약적이라는 아이러니를 극복하고 컨택센터 업무 효율을 증가시키기 위한 다양한 업무 자동화 기술 개발 연구들이 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 본 연구는 업무 자체는 정형적이지만, 그 중요성이 높아 업무 자동화의 효율이 높은 대표적인 컨택센터의 업무 중 하나인 품질평가 업무의 자동화 방법을 제안한다. 제안 방법은 채널 분리된 상담 내용 녹취 내용을 토대로, 음성 인식 결과를 획득한 뒤, 문장단위 발화 내용을 분석하여, 정량 평가 항목인 도입부 평가, 응대 중 경청과 침묵 평가, 그리고 마무리 평가를 수행한 후 수행 결과를 평가표에 맞춰 출력하는 단계를 따른다. 제안 방법은 전문가의 평가 결과 대비 92.7% 일치율을 보였다. 불일치 케이스의 경우, 주로 음성 인식의 오류에 기인한 경우였다. 따라서 음성 인식 결과의 신뢰도가 보장된다면, 본 논문에서 제안한 방법을 통해 자동화된 품질평가로 해당 업무 효율을 증대시킬 수 있을 것이다.

학생들의 정신건강문제와 정신과 의뢰에 대한 교사의 인식도 조사 (TEACHERS' PERCEPTIONS OF MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS IN STUDENTS AND PSYCHIATRIC CONSULTATIONS)

  • 서울과 광주 및 전라남도의 초등학교, 중학교, 고등학교에 재직하는 일반교사 450명을 대상으로 하여 학생들이 보이는 정신건강문제의 빈도와 유형 및 원인에 대한 교사들의 인식과, 애로점 및 개선요구 사항, 의뢰나 도움을 청하는 대상, 정신과 의뢰나 권유 정도 및 의뢰 장애요인을 설문 조사하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1) 교사에 의해 정신건강문제가 있다고 판단되는 학생은 5.3%, 정신과 진찰이 필요하다고 생각되는 학생은 1.9%, 정신과 의뢰나 권유를 한 학생은 1.2%였다. 2) 교사에게 발견되는 학생들의 주된 정신건강문제의 유형은 초등학교의 경우에는 산만함과 주의력결핍, 학습능력결여, 언어능력결여의 순이며, 중학교는 산만함과 주의력결핍, 가출이나 비행문제, 학습능력결여의 순이었고, 고등학교는 가출이나 비행문제, 산만함과 주의력결핍, 신체증상의 호소, 담배나 본드의 상습적 사용의 순이었다. 3) 교사들은 학생들의 정신건강문제의 유발 원인에 대해 양육태도나 가정환경, 심리적 요인, 성적위주의 교육제도, 상담이나 정신건강관리 미흡 등의 순으로 중요하게 생각하였다. 4) 학생들의 정신건강문제를 접할 때 교사가 느끼는 애로사항은 담당 학생수의 과다, 시간적 여유 부족, 상담교육 기회 결여의 순이었고, 개선을 희망하는 사항으로는 담당 학생수의 감축, 성적위주 교육환경의 개선, 시간적 여유, 정규적인 정신건강교육, 문제학생을 위한 개별 프로그램, 학교와 연계된 상담전문가나 자문의사의 순이었다. 5) 도움을 받거나 의뢰할 수 있는 대상은 동료교사, 학부모, 상담교사, 양호교사, 상담기관, 신경정신과, 교장 ${\cdot}$ 교감의 순이었으며, 정신과 의뢰를 못하는 이유로는 정신과에 대한 학부모의 편견, 학생들의 문제에 대한 교사의 우위의식, 시간적 여유 부족, 정신과에 대한 교사의 편견, 과거 정신과 의뢰 결과에 대한 불만족의 순이었다. 6) 정신과 의뢰나 진찰 권유의 경험이 있는 교사는 20.4%였고, 서울시의 교사가 전남의 교사보다 정신과 의뢰나 권유의 경험이 많았다.

어린이집 CCTV 빅데이터의 활용을 위한 기초 연구 (Preliminary Study on Utilization of Big Data from CCTV at Child Care Centers)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore the feasibility to utilize image data recorded and accumulated from CCTV at child care centers. Methods: Literature reviews, consultations and workshops with scholars studying child development, legal professionals, and engineers, focus group interviews with professionals working with young children, and surveys targeting parents, directors and teachers were implemented. Results: It was found the big data from CCTV at child care centers can be used to make policies and implement research as a secondary data set after anonymization. Extracting implicit and useful data from images stored on CCTV is technically feasible. Also, it can be legally guaranteed to analyze the data under the condition of acquiring informed consents. Conclusion/Implications: It was likely to utilize image data from CCTV at child care centers as a secondary data set in order for policy development and scholarly purposes, after overcoming obstacles of the budget for additional infrastructures and consents of information holders.

세시풍속과 연계된 유아경제교육 프로그램 모형 개발 (Development of an Economic Education Program Model for Young Children Related to Korean Seasonal Customs)

  • This study developed a model economic education program for young children related to Korean seasonal customs. The model was developed via literature reviews and survey research concerning teachers’' recognition of ‘'early childhood economic education’', consultations with professionals in the field, and testing and modifying the program. The goals of the model program were: teaching children to understand basic economic concepts, helping children to develop an economic attitude that emphasizes interdependence, and acknowledging the importance of eco-friendly economic values. The model includes three educational areas and 21 content areas including understanding the concept of exchange, sharing and cooperation, and circulation with nature. This study also developed 37 early childhood economic education activities using the teaching and learning methods of experiencing nature, virtual experience, real life experience, and traditional games experience.
