  • Recently, construction companies prefer to use large scale system forms to prepare for lacking of skilled workers, aging and the chances of application of pre-build&post-sale policy. In result of the effort and interest, the duration for framework of domestic high rise buildings has been accomplished to 3-4days per floor but for the apartment housing which form over 90% of the domestic construction industry, and especially the middle story RC apartments which is the main part, the duration for framework is only about 6-8days per level. This is only about 50% of the duration per level of RC residential buildings in North America. In previous researches elementary technology, which has potential of duration reduction, was proposed and this research suggest the applicability in construction sites and ways to improve it using elementary technology applied Mock-up Test. Furthermore, we analyze the productivity and T/C usage rate of the 6day-Cycle and suggest an improved model.

  • Flexible space is an adaptable space that has been increasingly used in many office and academic buildings as it increases the use of the space available and reduces the unnecessary building area. However, the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) industry lacks a formalized method that helps architects predict and update the space utilization of flexible space during the project development, as such prediction aims to maximize the use of the building space available without exceeding the target utilization policy. Consequently, current manual utilization prediction results in lower accuracy level and limits the maximized use of the flexible space, which has multiple space-use types that affect the prediction of utilization. To address this problem, we identified eight space-use type differentiators (SUTDs) based on the literature review and observations and discussed the use of them in automated space-use analysis (SUA), which can predict the utilization of flexible space via a computer program. This research builds on SUA and contributes to flexible space planning by providing a means of a more comprehensive and accurate SUA.

  • Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to analyze the net effect of the green total factor productivity (GTFP) of China's manufacturing industry from the China-Korea Free Trade Area (China-Korea FTA) quantitatively. Design/methodology - Firstly, the Global Malmquist-Luenberger (GML) index based on the SBM directional distance function is used to measure the GTFP of China's manufacturing and analyze the driving force for its growth. Secondly, the regression discontinuity quantitative analysis is used to determine the impact of the China-Korea FTA on China's manufacturing GTFP. Findings - Our main findings can be summarized as follows: the China-Korea FTA has promoted the GTFP of China's manufacturing with an effect evaluation mainly resulting from green technology progress. And there is industry heterogeneity in the policy effect on the manufacturing GTFP due to the China-Korea FTA. Namely, policy promotion from the China-Korea FTA is more effective on the GTFP of equipment manufacturing than it is on those of other industries. Originality/value - First, an evaluation and analysis of the GTFP development of China's manufacturing that employs GML index based on SBM directional distance function. Second, a quantitative estimate of China-Korea FTA's net effect on China's manufacturing industrial GTFP that uses regression discontinuity analysis, which is considered to be the closest method to natural experiments and superior to other causal inference methods. Third, an in-depth discussion of the practical steps that China's manufacturing can take to improve GTFP development and integrate China-Korea FTA construction into economic development.

After setting the scope of related industry, detailed information for current market situation was investigated and a systematic forecast for market changes in the future was performed. Economic growth, changes in consumer expenditure and economic status of the elderly, current subscription of medical insurance and saving for pension were reflected. In addition, a survey toward related firms was completed and changes in aged population and incidence of chronic disease in the elderly were taken into account. Results show that the annual growth rate of the market was predicted to be the minimum 4.54% through the maximum 8.32% from 2010 to 2025 and its market size was forecasted to be the minimum 7,073 ten million won through the maximum 10,976 ten million won. It is expected that the market of foods-for-elderly will grow rapidly with development of foods technology and fast increase of aged population. Especially, growth of health functional foods and foods for special dietary uses for elderly will be distinguished. However, it seems that related firms are on the hedge, watching current trend of the related industry. This may results in insufficient supply against the demand. Therefore, policy for foods-for-elderly should be introduced and systematically administered, including R&D support, standardization and authentication for foods-for-elderly, construction of related database system.

  • To convert the construction industry from 'the high cost, the low efficiency' to 'the low cost, the high efficiency and value-added industry' and to enhance the performance and quality of products while reducing the cost, the related law and guideline were established and promulgated, which regulate that value engineering workshop during the preliminary design and the detail design stage should be a mandatory process. But VE practitioners are still confusing in choosing the proper value engineering process, because processes those are described in the various references use the different terms, steps and activities, even though they have their own specific characteristics. To resolve these confusions, the existing steps and activities of three kinds of the literature, four kinds of the organization's policy and other four kinds of study examples relating to the design VE were examined. And then, the differences and expecting problems were extracted through the comparison and analysis of those materials. After that, VE specialists' opinion through the questionnaire survey were grasped. Based on those studies the improved design VE Job Plan and activity statements were suggested.
