  • To investigate the actual distribution condition and clothing construction factors of the working clothes supplied to the Changwon national industrial complex, 5 major companies in machinery, automotive, industrial engineering, shipbuilding and rolling stock in the industrial complex located in Gyeongsangnam-Do were selected. The questionnaire designed for the research consisted of working clothes distribution policies in manufacturing industry and the actual conditions of the design facts, repair and maintenance of the working clothes, etc. The analysis of the clothing construction factors of the working clothes provided by 5 respondent companies were conducted in parallel. The results derived from the study were as follows: The basic types of working clothes were the blouson jacket and straight pants; safety equipments for manufacture were safety helmets, gloves, snickers, goggles, masks, ear caps, wristlets, leggings, apron, etc. The size-charts adopted by the participant companies were the small-medium-large and cm/inch measurement size systems. To solve wearer's dissatisfaction with the garment fit, certain clothing construction factors were used, e.g. strap bands and the elastic band on a waist band. The types of fabrics used for the working clothes were mainly polyester/cotton and polyester/rayon blended ones. Moreover, to provide with more air permeability to wearers, the warp knit material was used to construct the lining and the armpit or back bodice slits. Lock, two-thread chain, safety, overedge stitches were applied with flat, lap felled, French, superimposed, lapped, bound and edge finishing seams to construct the working clothes selected.

  • Tracking ICT applications on construction business processes is critical to the success of ICT-applied construction projects. Existing IDEF0 is a representative modeling method for visualizing and analyzing business processes. It defines a construction production process into a visual information model, hence, encouraging the project participant to understand the activities, their deliverable, and control flow of the process. However, IDEF0 dose not lend itself to ICT-applied construction processes, because it does not provide a mean to define how, in what order, by which each and every activity that ICT applied implements. This paper presents a new business modeling method that improves the traceability of ICT application (IAMB: ICT Application tracking Model for Business process) for construction management. The IAMB contributes to handle the sophisticated features of construction management processes to which ICT are applied. The method categorizes the process into three types: management, construction, and information exchange. The validity of IAMB was confirmed by analyzing the performance when it is used for tracking each modeling step of lift reservation process which making use of ICT. The test case provides an admissible evidence that the method encourage to define who, what, how, which order, and by which ICT tools the construction process exchanges production information.

  • As a new form of the public procurement method, that is BTL(Build-Transfer-Lease) was introduced in 2005, it has consequently created a new form of emerging business, so called BTL Project Management firms. As a key participant of BTL projects, PM firms play an important role in securing the projects. But due to the short history of BTL, the identity of BTL PM firms has not been widely understood. The objective of this paper is to investigate major characteristics of BLT PM firms for better understanding of the emerging business.

  • For a successful construction project, the requirements of the client should be clearly defined and this should be reflected in the project based on the expertise of each project participant throughout the entire life-cycle. Therefore, it is necessary to establish the concept of Requirements Management to systematize and manage project requirements in terms of information management. This study aims to comprehensively define the concept of requirements management in the architecture industry and to provide a methodological basis for efficiently managing design requirements information by suggesting category of requirements information type and information analysis criteria. In addition, based on the case study, the requirements information was analyzed to propose a systemization methods of requirements management for PMO' design management and information management.

  • The purpose of this study is to diminish the risk through identifying the risk factors occurring in the process of real estate development projects, and analyzing and coping with the risk factors, and enable stable advance in the development process by improving the roles and work distribution of the project investor. The results of this study are as follows : 1) identifying the risks of contractions from the step of selecting the sites must be made possible through supplemental human resources expertise in plan and construction of the operation 2) as an improvement scheme, heightening the penetration wall of development projects from the investors, proposing a registration law and a selection standard of construction companies to investors' cooperating companies enabling the growth of superior investors.

  • Recently, BIM has been actively adopted in construction projects and industries, and also integrated with Information and Communications Technology(ICT) such as cloud computing technology, sensor technology, 3D scanning and printing technology etc. However, it is very difficult to efficiently utilize BIM services, technologies and collaborate with each other because of differences of usage and requirements of technologies. Every participant in the same construction project has their own needs, requirements and details of the model in each phase. In order to enhance utilization BIM model, BIM services and technologies required in their project have to be clearly defined in the initial stage of the project. In order to support the owner to define the BIM level, BIM service level and application technologies are identified and guidelines how to define the level and technologies for their project purpose are suggested in this study.

  • Background and objective: Land vacancy is a persistent issue in most urban areas in the United States, yet few case studies have examined how vacant lots are used and the functions they serve in local communities. The purposes of this study were to provide a new revitalization planning and design proposal for the Durant-Tuuri-Mott (DTM) target area in the shrinking city of Flint, MI, USA, and to assess the final planning and design guideline through an analysis of vacant land redevelopment alternatives. Methods: For developing a revitalization planning and design guideline, this study developed several design modules with three main design themes. Then, landscape performance of the final design proposals was analyzed by three development scenarios, based on implementation level: 100%, 75%, and 50%. These development scenarios were based on the local context and different implementation budgets needed to adopt the proposed design modules. To generate a comprehensive development plan by optimizing design module allocation in the study area, this research employed a system-oriented approach, analyzing the existing cultural, natural, and built environments. A community participant process was adopted to collect stakeholders' opinions on future development. Results: By utilizing landscape performance metrics to quantify the environmental, social, and economic benefits, this study developed optimized development scenarios and a master plan for the reuse and redevelopment of existing vacant lots across DTM neighborhoods and analyzed the benefits of each. Conclusion: This research offers a flexible design method for balancing objectives in vacant land redevelopment that can be applied in other shrinking cities.

  • This study is to understand preservice science teachers' previous experience, beliefs about teaching and learning, and visions of themselves as future teachers. The data were collected from two individual interviews with 7 voluntary students and analyzed qualitatively for category construction. As the results of this study, we presented two cases, which showed that their different views of teaching science are strongly related to their previous experiences as learners and observers in schools, and that there is the apparent consistency between each participant's beliefs about science teaching and learning and their own visions of teaching in a science classroom. Implications for preservice science teacher education related to the results were discussed.

  • This study researched that the remodeling was executed desirably in the side of deweller's household to the subject of ten apartment housings located in Gwang-ju, Jun-nam province. The study method was used the field study method and used in parallel with participant observation. As a result of the study, first, the problems of remodeling enforcement process are brought about standardized design, bad construction and the difficulty of solution in the defect occurrence. Second, By that request of the household is not reflected, the room except bedroom and the bathroom of inner room are low practical use degree. And wash space, garden space, assistant space of kitchen work were becoming hindrance factor of the residing environment because the use is irrational.

  • This paper, based on a qualitative ethnographic study among college of education students, examines the online interactional processes surrounding academic discourse socialization. Data for this paper come from a larger study of an academic classroom community of graduate students and their instructor. In this study, I looked into the ways computer-mediated communication (CMC) contexts factor into graduate students' academic literacy experience in a graduate classroom, therein enculturating them into their new academic community. I focus on cases of nonnative graduate students in a content course in the department of educational psychology at a large southwestern university in the U.S. I explore the agency of the focal participants in terms of the roles they played in the classroom discourse highlighting the dialectical and interactional perspective of academic discourse socialization. This paper focused on the construction of varied participant roles of the focal students. It further examines student reactions and responses to these constructions during synchronous CMC activity.
