  • The construction inspection is conducted by the contractor or construction supervisor after a certain stage of work has been completed. As the consturction inspection task is dependant on construction schedule, however, it is difficult to plan inspection task systematically, resulting in increased supervision costs, delays in construction, and disputes. Therefore, this study aims to integrate inspection work with schedule management to systematize inspection procedures. Firstly, the inspection work is defined based on the construction supervision checklist. Then its relationship with the construction process, required time, and resources for inspection tasks are defined in construction schedule. Lastly, a process management program is used to assess the effects of applying the inspection work and examine changes in the overall construction period and process management. The proposed method in this study can support to plan construction inspection more systematically and to improve the effectiveness of construction quality management.

  • Korean construction companies are recently facing stiff competition in free market economy, and construction projects tend to be complex and large-scale. Such an environment demands that construction companies ensure specialized subcontractors. This paper suggested a subcontractor evaluation model for selection of competent subcontractors which are equipped with operational, technical and productive ability. For designing a subcontractor model, AHP method as a group decision-marking method is applied in assigning weighting indices of evaluation elements. To verify this method, actual data collected in one of construction companies are analysed statistically.

  • Usually, processing whole project or a part of frame work delays due to acceleration, changing orders, management, characters of project. overtime, worker crowding, early occupation in the field of construction. Through a whole project, these factors cause decreasing construction labor-productivity which is the most dependent in business of construction. These kind of decreasing of construction labor-productivity cause many negative effects, just as extension of time, increasing cost in project of construction. Regardless of characters of construction or decreasing labor-productivity, extension of time is a incident which needs acceleration, also it cause a high possibility of claim and dispute. The productivity has just a broad meaning in business of construction. That's why it's difficult to apply in the field of construction. Especially, factors increasing or decreasing labor-productivity is defined by analysis of working as qualitative and outlined evaluation. However, study of the each factor decreasing construction labor-productivity analysis has not researched, because of difficulty of systematic measurement and management. The existed studies about management of productivity are just focused on estimation of productivity, not on evaluation of productivity. It was true that I couldn't examine clearly about the analysis of how much important per each the factor which have influence on labor-productivity because of the characteristic as qualitative that the labor productivity have On this study, i tried to get the factors decreasing of labor- productivity with gathering opinions of panels of expert's studies about the factors decreasing of labor-productivity on project of construction through Delphi method and i evaluated the result factors as quantitatively and subjectively about importance of factors decreasing construction labor-productivity Analysis, using AHP Method by Saaty. Also, using Delphi and AHP method, 1 suggest substantiated method qualitative factors are measured by quantitative criteria.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish a novel system for on-site management of construction and demolition waste. Construction waste has always been one of largest waste in the world and has long lacked an effective management system. Although various countries have planned the disposal of waste at the political level, the real-time and effective management of construction sites has not been mentioned. Especially in China, the continuous development of the construction industry also generates a large amount of waste, and China is not prepared for a large amount of construction waste. In order to alleviate the huge impact of construction waste on society and the environment, this study proposes a waste management method that combines Building Information Modeling technology and Radio Frequency Identification technology. Through this research, by using information technology to manage the generation and discharge of construction waste, and record the amount and information of waste generation, also improve the management method of construction waste.

  • In recent years, Owner, Architects, and Contractor are increasingly collaborating with each other from pre construction phase in construction projects, which is called Early Contractor Involvement (ECI). In Japan, the ECI method has been introduced in several public building projects since 2015. The purpose of this study is mainly to clarify the characteristics of the ECI method in Japan and to compare the contract clauses of the ECI method in the UK and the USA. The results of the survey are as follows. (1) the ECI method was supposed to make it possible to achieve appropriate quality, cost, and construction period by reflecting Contractor's technology and know-how in the design documents and specifications. (2) According to the database, there were 27 cases of the ECI method in Japan from 2015 to 2021, of which 13 cases for which bidding information could be obtained had a variety of technical proposals, mainly VE proposals, depending on the project characteristics. (3), Japan's ECI method has very much in common with SBC + PCSA in the UK. On the other hand, ECI Method in Japan differs from in the UK in that Owner, Architect, and Contractor enter into a partnership agreement, which is similar to ConsensusDocs CD541 in the USA. (4) The ECI method in Japan has the following problems: Owner depends on Contractor for cost control, the division of roles among project members is complicated, and more work from Owner than the DBB method are required.

  • Schedule management of construction work is critical to completing construction projects within a given period of time. Many efforts have been made and multiple tools have been developed to support the management of construction projects using smart devices such as smartphones and tablet PCs. This study proposed a method for managing construction schedules via a smart device using Flash. The interactive and graphic properties of Flash enable the development of an app that can allow a field manager to manage schedules easily and efficiently. A prototype was implemented using Adobe Flex Builder, and a sample network was applied in a smartphone. It is convenient for a construction manager to manage construction schedules using the tool because Flash controls graphic components easily. In further studies, network diagrams such as CPM (Critical Path Method) should be developed and applied to the app.

  • Most of studies on PC method aim at the structural analysis and development of PC members, and studies on the construction management aspect are insufficient. This study is a basic research in the construction management aspect regarding 'composite method using hollow-PC column' (HPC method), and is intended to develop assessment standards for the benefit·cost analysis of HPC method. Assessment standards for the benefit·cost analysis were composed of main-factors and sub-factors through interview with 4 experts. It was possible to classify main-factors into 4 major categories, i.e,. structural performance, construction performance, construction duration and construction cost. Sub-factors were composed of factors which were of high importance in assessing the two methods. And factors judged to be repeated or of little importance were excluded.

  • Recently as people's values are changing from development into quality of life, the needs of environmentally friendly construction are gradually increasing, also popular discontent about the construction pollution such as the noise and vibration cause by construction machinery is increasing. Even though it is impossible to eliminate construction pollution fully, it is necessary to make efforts to reduce construction pollution to a minimum. The first step solving these matters is that the necessary sum of expense must be secured as the environmental budgeting method regarding Environmental management costs. To provide an efficient budgeting method, a interview with the person in charge of environment management was conducted. and the environmental management costs were analyzed through the historical data.

  • Productivity analysis is the most important and significant method for evaluating management and engineering performance during whole project stage. However, it is very difficult in developing qualitative index to construction industry comparing to other industries. Therefore, analytical hierarchy process (AHP) is one of the methods for overcoming these limitations by checking consistency index using duality comparison. In this study, it is scraped up an application plan and selection for innovative tools by analyzing survey results on tool users and site managers with respect to using Modified-AHP performance measurement method.

  • The importance of project performance management as an alternative for solving problems is rising, which are followed by the hardships of managing construction project in the construction industry. This research classifies and applies the improvements made by the operator's work, in order to apply factors of success on the construction project, as performance management factors. In addition, in order to predict the results reflecting the project characteristic of performance management factor un-improvable by the operator in the initial stage of construction, the effect of project characteristic to the performance was drawn by performance difficulty. Also, in order to improve the predicted performance, researches on setting valid best practices according to the performance territory through a correlation analysis between the best practices improvable through the operator's work, and the performance was made.
