  • Superior performance of field consistent eight-node hexahedron element in static bending problems has already been demonstrated in literature. In this paper, its performance in free vibration is investigated. Free vibration frequencies of typical test problems have been computed using this element. The results establish its superior performance in free vibration, particularly in thin plate application and near incompressibility regimes, demonstrating that shear locking, Poisson's stiffening and volumetric locking have been eliminated.

  • Purpose: This study is to investigate the influencing factors in the consistent use of contraception methods by comparing consistent and inconsistent users on partner communication, contraceptive control perception, and sexual autonomy among married Korean women. Method: This study consists of 243 married women living in Korea. A convenient sampling technique was used and data were collected by self report questionnaires from September 14, 2000 to October 20, 2000. Result: Only 41.6% of women were using contraception methods consistently and the rest of them were using contraception methods inconsistently. Between the two groups, statistical significances were noted in sexual communication(t=-2.5, p=.01), perceived contraceptive control(t=-7.5, p=.00) and sexual autonomy(t=-3.1, p=.00). As for general communication, it was not statistically significant(t=-1.0, p=.31). Conclusion: Family planning program advisors should recognize that intervention programs for the promotion of consistent contraceptive behavior should focus on the sexual communication, perceived contraceptive control, and sexual autonomy.

  • In order to properly quantify fission reactor neutronics parameter uncertainties, we have to use covariance data and sensitivity profiles consistently. In the present paper, we establish two consistent methodologies for uncertainty quantification: a self-shielded cross section-based consistent methodology and an infinitely-diluted cross section-based consistent methodology. With these methodologies and the covariance data of uranium-238 nuclear data given in JENDL-3.3, we quantify uncertainties of infinite neutron multiplication factors of light water reactor and fast reactor fuel cells. While an inconsistent methodology gives results which depend on the energy group structure of neutron flux and neutron-nuclide reaction cross section representation, both the consistent methodologies give fair results with no such dependences.

  • A relation between temperature and time has been constructed in the self-consistent model(SCM). This relation is used to calculate the a CMBR temperature. This temperature has been found to be 2.9K. The temperature gradient of microwave background radiation(CMBR) is calculated in the Self Consistent Model. Two relations between Hubble parameter and time derivative of the temperature, have been presented in two different cases. In the first case the temperature is treated as a function of time only, while in the other one, it is assumed to be a function in time and solid angle, beside the assumption that the universe expands adiabatically.

  • A consistent general order nodal method for solving the 3-D neutron diffusion equation in (x-y-z) geometry has ben derived by using a weighted integral technique and expanding the spatial variables by the Legendre orthogonal series function. The equation set derived can be converted into any order nodal schemes. It forms a compact system for general order of nodal moments. The method utilizes the analytic solutions of the transverse-integrated quasi -one dimensional equations and a consistent expansion for the spatial variables so that it renders the use of an approximation for the transverse leakages no necessary. Thus, we can expect extremely accurate solutions and the solution would converge exactly when the mesh width is decreased or the approximation order is increased since the equation set is consistent mathematically.

  • This study investigates the influence of the mother brand's product types on the consumers' brand evaluations on consistent and inconsistent brand extensions. The study shows that brand extensions consistent with the mother brand's product type have better brand evaluations than inconsistent brand extensions. The study also shows that brand extensions consistent with utilitarian mother products are much more important than consistent brand extensions with hedonic mother brands. Furthermore, results show that the types of consumer involvement influence the consumers' brand evaluations by interacting with types of mother brands and consistency of brand extensions.

  • Recently, Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) and Variational AutoEncoders (VAE) have been applied to voice conversion that can make use of non-parallel training data. Especially, Conditional Cycle-Consistent Generative Adversarial Networks (CC-GAN) and Cycle-Consistent Variational AutoEncoders (CycleVAE) show promising results in many-to-many voice conversion among multiple speakers. However, the number of speakers has been relatively small in the conventional voice conversion studies using the CC-GANs and the CycleVAEs. In this paper, we extend the number of speakers to 100, and analyze the performances of the many-to-many voice conversion methods experimentally. It has been found through the experiments that the CC-GAN shows 4.5 % less Mel-Cepstral Distortion (MCD) for a small number of speakers, whereas the CycleVAE shows 12.7 % less MCD in a limited training time for a large number of speakers.

  • The problem of wavelet density estimation is studied when the sample observations are contaminated with random noise. In this paper a linear wavelet estimator based on Meyer-type wavelets is shown to be L$_1$ strongly consistent for f(x) with bounded support when Fourier transform of random noise has polynomial descent or exponential descent.
