  • Usability has become an important consideration for product development, and as a result, there is a growing need for systems and tools that can support usability test projects. However, few studies so far have developed such systems and tools. During a usability test project, many participants take up different roles, such as project managers, usability testers, and subjects. We implement a web-based usability test system with which a project manager can manage and control all participants and documents throughout the entire usability test process, from the design of a usability test project to the analysis of the test results. A usability test generates many documents, such as subject agreement forms and before/after questionnaires. Since many different subjects can participate in a usability test, consistency during testing with different participants and efficient document management are the keys to success for a usability test. Since all users that participate in usability test projects can access web-based usability test systems through a web browser, regardless of the place where they are, the reliability of the testing results can improve since the tests are conducted in the locations where the target products are meant to be used. In particular, our system is useful for disabled individuals who cannot move.

  • Multi-cloud rendering has been attracting attention recently as the computational load of rendering fluctuates over time and each rendering process can be performed independently. However, it is challenging in multi-cloud rendering to deliver large amounts of input data instantly with consistency constraints. In this paper, we develop a new distributed file system for multi-cloud rendering. In our file system, a local machine maintains a file server that manages versions of rendering input files, and each cloud node maintains a rendering cache manager, which performs distributed cooperative caching by considering file versions. Measurement studies with rendering workloads show that the proposed file system performs better than NFS and the uploading schemes by 745% and 56%, respectively, in terms of I/O throughput and execution time.

  • Purpose - Our primary goal of this study is to investigate the positive relationship between female managers' self-determined motivations (i.e., RAI: relative autonomy index) and job performances with the mediation of their job creativity in service industries. This study also examines the moderating role of creative efficacy on the relationship between female managers' self-determined motivations and creativities. Finally, based on mediation and moderation hypotheses, we also tested moderating effect of creative efficacy on the mediation effect of job creativity. Research design, data, and methodology - Drawing on SDT(Self-determination theory) and COR(conservation of resources) theories, we developed three research hypotheses. Service female managers from a several service organizations(i.e. banking, retailing, and restaurant/hospitality service) in South Korea were surveyed using self-administered instrument for data collection. A total of 331 usable questionnaires were obtained after list-wise deletion. To test reliability and validity of measurement model, we employed the CFA(confirmatory factor analysis) using M-plus 8.1 Software. Also, internal consistency was tested by Cronbach's α. We, furthermore, used the SPSS PROCESS MACRO 2.16, which was suggested by Hayes (2013; 2015), to test mediation, moderation, and moderated mediation. Results - Our results revealed that self-determined motivation and job performance were positively and fully mediated by job creativity. Furthermore, the positive relationship between female managers' self-determined motivations and job creativities was stronger when their creative self-efficacies were high than when it was low. In addition, female managers' creative self-efficacies also amplified the positive relationship between their self-determined motivations and job performances with the mediation of job creativity. Conclusions - Our research empirically elaborated the previous model of self-determined motivation and manager/female creativity literature by presenting the findings that female managers' self-determined motivations significantly influence their job performances via job creativity and that creative self-efficacy effectively strengthen these positive impacts. Also, our research offered new insight for practitioners (i.e. top service managers) by suggesting that they may enhance female service managers' job performance if they pay more attention to employee creativity in service marketing.

  • In software R&D artifacts including documents and program code are produced. There are two kinds of software R&D artifacts: Research artifacts and development artifacts. Research artifacts include software R&D planning document, annual report, final report, research note and so on. Software development artifacts include software requirements, software design description, testing plan, test report, and program code. It is important to verify the documents and to test code to check the direction of the R&D. Moreover, we should check relationships as such completeness and consistency between research and development artifacts. The verification and testing help project manager and researchers understand what they do during software projects. Therefore, in this study, we present a process to verify documents and program in software R & D. In the process we check documents produced in software R&D and test program code. We describe the process by using Essence elements including alpha, activity, and competency. We present a case study to show the effectiveness of the process.

  • As the concurrent engineering concept has emerged along with the support of optimization techniques, lots of endeavors have been made to apply optimization techniques to actual design problems for a holistic decision. Even if the range of design problems which the optimization is applicable to has been extended, most of ship designs still remain in an iterative approach due to the difficulties of seamless integration of all related design activities. In this approach, an entire design problem is divided into many sub-problems and carried out by many different disciplines through complicated internal interactions. This paper focuses on preliminary ship design process. This paper proposes a process centric integrated framework as the first step to establish a workflow based design process management system. The framework consists of two parts; a schedule management part to support a manager to monitor current progress status and adjust current schedule, and a process management part to assist a design to effectively perform a series of design activities by following a predefined procedure. Overall system are decomposed into modules according to the target to be managed in each module. Appropriate interactions between the decomposed modules are designed to achieve a consistency of the entire system. Design process model is also designed on a thorough analysis of actual ship design practice. The proposed framework will be embodied using a commercial workflow package.

  • The government of the Republic of Korea is conducting quality management of public open data by conducting a public data quality management level evaluation. Public open data is provided in various open formats such as XML, JSON, and CSV, with CSV format accounting for the majority. When diagnosing the quality of public open data in CSV format, the quality diagnosis manager determines and diagnoses the domain for each field based on the field name and data within the field of the public open data file. However, it takes a lot of time because quality diagnosis is performed on large amounts of open data files. Additionally, in the case of fields whose meaning is difficult to understand, the accuracy of quality diagnosis is affected by the quality diagnosis person's ability to understand the data. This paper proposes a domain discrimination model for public open data in CSV format using field names and data distribution statistics to ensure consistency and accuracy so that quality diagnosis results are not influenced by the capabilities of the quality diagnosis person in charge, and to support shortening of diagnosis time. As a result of applying the model in this paper, the correct answer rate was about 77%, which is 2.8% higher than the file format open data diagnostic tool provided by the Ministry of Public Administration and Security. Through this, we expect to be able to improve accuracy when applying the proposed model to diagnosing and evaluating the quality management level of public data.

  • There is a great need to develop a training program proven to change behavior and improve knowledge. The purpose of this study was to evaluate employee hygiene knowledge, hygiene practice, and cleanliness, before and after HACCP system implementation at one small-size restaurant. The efficiency of the system was analyzed using time-temperature control after implementation of u-HACCP$^{(R)}$. The employee hygiene knowledge and practices showed a significant improvement (p<0.05) after HACCP system implementation. In non-heating processes, such as seasoned lettuce, controlling the sanitation of the cooking facility and the chlorination of raw ingredients were identified as the significant CCP. Sanitizing was an important CCP because total bacteria were reduced 2~4 log CFU/g after implementation of HACCP. In bean sprouts, microbial levels decreased from 4.20 logCFU/g to 3.26 logCFU/g. There were significant correlations between hygiene knowledge, practice, and microbiological contamination. First, personnel hygiene had a significant correlation with 'total food hygiene knowledge' scores (p<0.05). Second, total food hygiene practice scores had a significant correlation (p<0.05) with improved microbiological qualities of lettuce salad. Third, concerning the assessment of microbiological quality after 1 month, there were significant (p<0.05) improvements in times of heating, and the washing and division process. On the other hand, after 2 months, microbiological was maintained, although only two categories (division process and kitchen floor) were improved. This study also investigated time-temperature control by using ubiquitous sensor networks (USN) consisting of an ubi reader (CCP thermometer), an ubi manager (tablet PC), and application software (HACCP monitoring system). The result of the temperature control before and after USN showed better thermal management (accuracy, efficiency, consistency of time control). Based on the results, strict time-temperature control could be an effective method to prevent foodborne illness.
