  • We give new evidence that "complicated" Heegaard surfaces behave like incompressible surfaces. More precisely, suppose that a closed connected orientable 3-manifold M contains a closed connected incompressible surface F which separates M into two (connected) components $M_1$ and $M_2$. Let S be a Heegaard surface of M. Our result is that if the Hempel distance of S is at least four, then S is isotoped so that $S{\cap}M_i$ is incompressible for each i = 1, 2.

  • This paper proposes a new method for the recognition of road surface marks and numbers. The proposed method designates a region of interest on the road surface without first detecting a lane. The road surface markings are extracted by location and size using a connection component analysis. Distortion due to the perspective effect is minimized by normalizing the size of the road markings. The road surface marking of the connected component is recognized by matching it with the stored road marking templates. The proposed method is implemented using C language in Raspberry Pi 4 system with a camera module for a real-time image processing. The system was fixedly installed in a moving vehicle, and it recorded a video like a vehicle black box. Each frame of the recorded video was extracted, and then the proposed method was tested. The results show that the proposed method is successful for the recognition of road surface marks and numbers.

  • This paper presents an efficient and robust algorithm to compute the isophote of a surface of revolution. A surface of revolution can be decomposed to a set of cross-sectional circles. The surface normals along each cross-sectional circle form a cone. Using the characteristics of the normal vectors and the symmetric property of the surface of revolution, we propose a method to find the connected components of an isophote, which requires intersecting a planar curve(and its reflection) with two rays. Moreover, we propose a closed-form representation of an isophote as a parametric curve.

  • the quality of a TV is closely connected with the high quality surface of Braun tube. To get high quality surface an improved grinding system is needed. It has three main parts : the housing part of supporting frame the outershaft part rotat-ed by motor and the innershaft part having eccentricity from the rotation axis of the outershaft. the housing part and the outershaft part are connected by outerbearings, The outershaft part and the innershaft part are connected by innerbearings. Although the outershaft part is rotated at high-speed the innershaft part is not rotated by offset coupling. The high quality grinding surface can be obtained by this mechanism of panel surface grinder, Because the innershaft is unbalanced by eccentricity from rotation axis of outershaft the unbalancing vibration is resulted In this rotor system with high-speed rota-tion the unbalancing vibration makes the opertion unstable. In this research the transfer function is obtained bythe frequency response analysis of finite element model. The simu-lation result is proved by comparing with the experimental result measured by signal analyzer Then the results are corre-lated. in order to improve the design an optimization method is used instead of two-planes balancing method The parts of the 3-dimensional panel surface grinder satisfy the each constraint, The result shows that the design of the panel surface grinder can be optimized.

  • Pb-Free Technology was born with environmental problems of electronic component, Being connected by big and small project of every country. Also, in each country environment is connected and various standards of IEC, ISO, MIL, JIS, KS, JEDEC, EIAJ etc. All products can divide at solder part and finishing part These can tested each and synthetically divide. This research is reliability evaluation for three kind of ph-free SnCu solder plating solution and it's deposit. First, executed analysis about Pure Sn, SnCu solutions and plating surface by way similar to other plating solution analysis. Next, executed reliability about test method and equipment for reliable analyzer system construction. Next, data comparison and estimation, main estimation test method and item's choice. In this paper the systematic surface analysis and reliability for plating solutions and it's deposit in metal surface finishing processes could be shown.

  • We have calculated the energy of three distinct grain configurations, namely completely connected, partially connected and unconnected configurations, evolving during a spheroidization of polycrystalline thin film by extending a geometrical model due to Miller et al. to the case of spheroidization at both the surface and film-substrate interface. "Stabilitl" diagram defining a stable region of each grain configuration has been established in terms of the ratio of grain size to film thickness vs. equilibrium wetting or dihedral angles at various interface energy conditions. The occurrence of spheroidization at the film-substrate interface significantly enlarges the stable region of unconnected grain configuration thereby greatly facilitating the occurrence of agglomeration. Complete separation of grain boundary is increasingly difficult with a reduction of equilibrium wetting angle. The condition for the occurrence of agglomeration differs depending on the equilibrium wetting or dihedral angles. The agglomeration occurs, at low equilibrium angles, via partially connected configuration containing stable holes centered at grain boundary vertices, whereas it occurs directly via completely connected configuration at large equilibrium angles except for the case having small surface and/or film-substrate interface energy. The initiation condition of agglomeration is defined by the equilibrium boundary condition between the partially connected and unconnected configurations for the former case, whereas it can, for the latter case, largely deviate from the equilibrium boundary condition between the completely connected and unconnected configurations because of the presence of a finite energy barrier to overcome to reach the unconnected grain configuration.

  • Titanium tubes have recently been used in condensers of nuclear power plants since titanium has very good corrosion resistance to seawater. However, when it is connected to Cu alloys as tube sheet materials and these Cu alloys are connected to carbon steels as water box materials, it makes significant galvanic corrosion on connected materials. It is expected from electrochemical tests that the corrosion rate of carbon steel will increase when it is galvanically coupled with Ti or Cu in sea water and the corrosion rate of Cu will increase when it is coupled with Ti, if this couple is exposed to sea water for a long time. It is also expected that the surface area ratios, R$_1$(surface area of carbon steel/surface area of Ti) and R$_2$(surface area of carbon steel/surface area of Cu) are very important for the galvanic corrosion of carbon steel and that these should not be kept to low values in order to minimize the galvanic corrosion on the carbon steel of the water box. Immersed galvanic corrosion tests show that the corrosion rate of carbon steel is 4.4 mpy when the ratio of surface area of Fe/ surface area of Al Brass is 1 while it is 570 mpy when this ratio is 10$^{-2}$ . The galvanic corrosion rate of this carbon steel is increased from 4.4 mpy to 13 mpy at this area ratio, 1, when this connected galvanic specimen is galvanically coupled with a Ti tube. This can be rationalized by the combined effects of R$_1$ and R$_2$ on the polarization curve.

  • We present an efficient and robust algorithm to parametrize a perspective silhouette curve of a canal surface. We also detect each connected component of the silhouette. A canal surface is an envelope surface of a moving sphere with varying radii, which is defined by the center trajectory C(t) and radius function r(t) of the moving sphere. A canal surface can be decomposed to a set of characteristic circles. We derive the equations for the silhouette points on each characteristic circle, then parameterize the silhouette curve by using the equation. The sphere $S(t_*)$ with center point $C(t_*)$ and radius $r(t_*)$ intersects with the canal surface at a characteristic circle $K(t_*)$. The perspective silhouette of the sphere $S(t_*)$ from given view point consists of a circle $Q(t_*)$. By finding the values of t at which K(t) and Q(t) tangentially intersect, we detect each connected component of the silhouette curve.
