Analysis of concrete-filled steel tubular columns with "T" shaped cross section (CFTTS)

  • This paper presents a numerical study of axially loaded concrete-filled steel tubular columns with "T" shaped cross section (CFTTS) based on the ABAQUS standard solver. Two types of columns with "T" shaped cross section, the common concrete-filled steel tubular columns with "T" shaped cross section (CCFTTS) and the double concrete-filled steel tubular columns with "T" shaped cross section (DCFTTS), are discussed. The failure modes, confining effects and load-displacement curves are analyzed. The numerical results indicate that both have the similar failure mode that the steel tubes are only outward buckling on all columns' faces. It is found that DCFTTS columns have higher axial capacities than CCFTTS ones duo to the steel tube of DCFTTS columns can plays more significant confining effect on concrete. A parametric study, including influence of tube thickness, concrete strength and friction coefficient of tube-concrete interface on the axial capacities is also carried out. Simplified formulae were also proposed based on this study.

Frictional effects on the cyclic response of laterally loaded timber fasteners

  • Foschi's connector model is used as a basic component in the development of nonlinear analysis programs for timber structures. This paper presents the extension of the model to include the effect of shaft frictional forces. The wood medium is modeled using the Foschi embedment model, while shaft friction is modeled using an elastic Coulomb-type friction model. The initial confining pressure for the case of driven fasteners is accounted for by a lateral shift of the load-embedment curve. The model is used to compute the cyclic response of both driven and inserted fasteners. The results obtained from the cases studied indicate that initial confining pressure and friction do not have a significant effect on the computed hysteretic response, however, they significantly affect the computed amount of fastener withdrawal. This model is particularly well-suited for modeling the hysteretic response of shear walls with moderate fastener withdrawal under lateral cyclic or earthquake loading.

모래의 입도가 동적 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Gradation on Dynamic properties of Sands)

  • 흙의 동적 특성은 공극비, 구속압력, 입도 등의 여러가지 요인에 의해서 변화한다. 본 연구에서는 모래의 입도가 그 동적 특성에 미치는 영향을 구속압력과 공극비의 영향과 함께 실험적으로 살펴 보았다. 실험 결과, 전단탄성계수(Shear Modulus)와 감쇠비 (Damping Ratio)는 공극비가 감소 함에 따라, 그리고 구속압력이 증가함에 따라 각카 증가 및 감소하였다. 한펀, 실트 크기의 석영분말을 섞어 입도를 변화시켰을 때, 시료의 전단탄성계수와 감쇠비는 석영 분말의 함유량이 증가함에 따라 각각 감소 및 증가하였다. 여기서는 이 현상을 "유효 접촉수"와 "사공간"의 개념을 써서 미시적으로 살펴보았다. 개념을 써서 미시적으로 살펴보았다.

Lateral confining action of mortar-filled sleeve reinforcement splice

  • Of the various methods of splicing reinforcing bar in reinforced concrete structure, mortar-filled sleeve reinforcement splice offers diverse benefits, not only in terms of structural performance but also for the construction process. Consequently, after the mortar-filled sleeve splices have been developed in recent years, research and development on these splices has been actively carried out, in order to evaluate its macro structural performance, such as its strength and stiffness, with the aim of enabling this system to be applied to construction in the field as early as possible. However, to make a proper evaluation on the overall structural performance of the mortar-filled sleeve reinforcing bar splice, it is of critical importance to understand the lateral confining action of the sleeve, which is known to affect the bond strength between the embedded bar and mortar in the sleeve. Accordingly, in this study, an experiment of monotonic loading and cyclic loading was conducted with a full-sized mortar-filled sleeve splice attaching strain gauges on the sleeve surface with experimental variables such as development length of bar, etc. Based on the test results, the effect of the lateral confining action of the sleeve was analyzed and considered in terms of the bond strength between the bar and mortar in this splice.

온도 및 구속응력을 고려한 토목섬유의 크리프거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on Creep Behavior of Geosynthetics Considering Effect of Temperature and Confining Stress)

  • 본 연구에서는, 토목섬유의 크리프시험시 온도 및 토목섬유에 가해지는 구속응력을 제어할 수 있도록 고안된 온도제어 구속크리프시험(Temperature Dependent Confined Creep Test)을 수행하였다. 시험결과를 토대로, 시험온도 및 구속응력의 크기가 토목섬유의 크리프특성에 미치는 영향을 정량적으로 분석하였으며, 장기적인 크리프변위를 예측하기 위하여 시간-온도 중첩원리를 이용한 합성곡선을 작도하여, 1$\times$$10^7$min.(Geomembrane D)∼1$\times$$10^{10}$min.(Geogrid T)까지의 크리프변위를 예측하였다. 본 합성곡선에 의해, 토목섬유에 가해지는 구속하중에 따른 토목섬유의 이동계수(shift factor)를 도출하였다. 온도제어 구속크리프시험은 시트형 지오그리드와 지오멤브레인을 대상으로 하였으며, 시험온도는 5∼4$0^{\circ}C$의 범위로, 구속하중의 크기는 0∼9t/$cm^2$의 범위로 하였다.

  • TR-CFT(Transversely Reinforced Concrete Filled Steel Tube) 기둥은 CFT 기둥의 국부좌굴부위를 탄소섬유쉬트로 보강을 하여 국부좌굴을 방지하거나 지연시키는 기둥부재이다. 본 연구에서는TR-CFT 기둥의 휨내력 산정을 위한 설계식을 제안하였다. CFT 기둥의 ACI 설계식은 강관내부에 발생하는 콘크리트의 구속효과를 고려하지 않아 저평가 되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 구속효과를 고려한 콘크리트의 응력-변형률 곡선를 이용하여 CFT 기둥과 TR-CFT 기둥의 휨내력 산정식을 제안했으며 해석에 의한 예측 값들은 실험값과 잘 일치함을 확인할 수 있었다.

구속 효과를 고려한 원형 CFT 기둥의 비선형 해석 (Nonlinear Analysis of a Circular CFT Column Considering Confining Effects)

  • 콘크리트의 구속효과 및 재료 비선형성, 강재의 변형 경화, 초기작용 축력을 고려하여 원형 콘크리트 충전 강관(Concrete Filled Steel Tube : CFT) 기둥의 해석을 위한 프로그램을 작성하고 검증 및 해석을 수행하였다. 축력-모멘트 상관관계 해석, 모멘트-곡률 해석, 모멘트-횡변위에 대한 해석을 수행하고, 선행연구자의 실험결과와 비교하여 검증하였다. 검증결과, 작성된 프로그램은 실제 CFT 기둥의 거동에 근접하였으며, 콘크리트의 구속효과를 고려한 경우 그렇지 않은 경우보다 더 큰 강도와 연성능력을 나타내었다. 콘크리트의 강도와 강관의 두께 변화에 따른 간단한 매개변수 해석을 수행하였으며, 콘크리트의 강도 증가 시 CFT 기둥의 강도는 증가하나 연성은 저하되는 결과를 보여주었다. 반면에 강관 두께를 증가시키는 경우에는, CFT 기둥의 강도와 연성 모두 증가하는 결과를 보여주었다.

흡입력-포화도 조절 기법을 이용한 불포화토의 함수특성곡선에 미치는 간극비 및 순구속압력의 영향 연구 (A Study on Change of Soil-Water Retention Curve with Different Net Confining Pressures and Porosities using a Suction-Saturation Control Technique)

  • A suction-saturation control technique based on flow pump system was developed to investigate hydraulic properties in unsaturated soils. The flow pump system is designed based on the principle of the axis-translation technique and triaxial equipment, and gives the suction-time and suction-saturation curves, the primary relationship needed for interpreting the response of unsaturated soils and link between theory and the material properties in unsaturated soil mechanics. Using the suction-saturation control technique, suction-time relationship and soil-water retention curve (SWRC) during hydraulic hysteresis were investigated with different net confining pressures and porosities. Three types of soils-two sands and a silt were used in this paper. This paper showed the effect of the hysteresis on the SWRC due to different net confining pressures and porosities. This means that a careful decision must be made as to which condition is to be modeled, since the delicate difference of the conditions in physical modeling can cause the different experimental output.

  • The confined concrete subjected multi-axial stresses have been known as the strength of concrete increases significantly. Many researchers have studied in confining effects of concrete, and now are studying in many fields. However, there are few passive confinements by steel tube. Although Mander et al. studied the concrete confined by transverse reinforcements, the confinement by steel tube differs from confining of reinforcements. To investigate the influence of concrete strength increased by confining conditions in steel, 51 specimens confined by different shapes and thicknesses of steel tube were tested and compared.

RC 구조벽의 연성설계 (Ductility Design of Structural Wall)

  • Nonlinear numerical analysis was performed to investigate the behavioral characteristics and failure mechanism of flexure -dominated structural walls with partially confined boundary elements. Based on the results, deformability of walls with partially confined boundary elements was evaluated, and a design method which can determine depth of confined boundary element according to given ductility demand, was developed. Also, effective details of laterally confining re-bars were proposed for boundary elements with rectangular cross-section. The design method can be used to choose the spacing of confining re-bars assuring the confining effect and constructability.
