  • The purpose of this converged study was to investigate the level of perceived ethical confidence, character, nursing professional value and moral sensitivity as well as to identify the factors influencing the perceived ethical confidence in nurses. The study evaluated on 174 nurses working in general hospital in D and S Province. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, Multiple regression. As a result, the level of perceived ethical confidence was moderate score. There were positive correlations between perceived ethical confidence and character and nursing professional value and moral sensitivity. The significant factors influencing the perceived ethical confidence were character, nursing professional value, moral sensitivity, which explained 25% of variance in perceived ethical confidence. Based on these findings, education programs that develop character and nursing professional value and moral sensitivity are necessary for nurses to promote perceived ethical confidence.

  • Evaluating product quality level is necessary before the manufactured items are delivered to the customer. When the amount of the items to be manufactured is limited and the product is of high price and should be evaluated by destructive testing, the number of samples to be tested should be as small as possible. This paper presents a small-sample inspection method using hyper-geometric distribution and Bayesian approach for finite small-sized population. A method of determining the minimum sample size is presented for given population size, allowable number of defectives, warranteed defective level, and confidence level which is the degree of confidence on the product quality level recognized by both the producer and the customer.

  • The research interprets the principles of sampling error design for quality statistics models such as hypothesis test, interval estimation, control charts and acceptance sampling. Introducing the proper discussions of the design of significance level according to the use of hypothesis test, then it presents two methods to interpret significance by Neyman-Pearson and Fisher. Second point of the study proposes the design of confidence level for interval estimation by Bayesian confidence set, frequentist confidential set and fiducial interval. Third, the content also indicates the design of type I error and type II error considering both productivity and customer claim for control chart. Finally, the study reflects the design of producer's risk with operating charistictics curve, screening and switch rules for the purpose of purchasing and subcontraction.

  • Reliability demonstration tests with zero-failure acceptance criterion are most commonly used in the field of reliability application since they require fewer test samples and less test time compared to other test methods that guarantee the same reliability with a given confidence level. For products with lognormal lifetime distribution, an economic zero-failure test plan is developed that minimizes the total cost related to perform a life test to guarantee a specified reliability of a product with a given confidence level. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the use of the proposed test plan.

  • We investigated the influences of 'Circumstance Insensibility', 'Unsafe Driving', 'Incautious Driving', and 'Self-efficacy of Driving', consisting of driving confidence level, on traffic accidents. 1055 drivers conducted Driving Confidence Level Questionnaire, items about their dangerous driving experience and traffic accidents. Among them, after checking the missing items, we analyzed data of 998 drivers. As a result, we found the relation between driving confidence levels and traffic accidents. Specially, 'Circumstance Insensibility' and 'Unsafe Driving' influenced traffic accidents. However 'Circumstance Insensibility' had negative effects, the other side 'Unsafe Driving' had positive effects on traffic accidents. This result means each factor of driving confidence levels have different relation with traffic accidents. 'Incautious Driving' and 'Self-efficacy of Driving' didn't have any effects on traffic accidents in this research. In future, it should be investigated 'Incautious Driving' and 'Self-efficacy of Driving'.

  • This study investigated the determinants of Tap Water consumption patterns. Socio-demographic variables(gender, family income, education level, residual area) and consumer attitude knowledge(confidence, knowledge, problem experience, risk perception and aesthetic satisfaction)were included in the analysis. Three hundred fifty-nine teachers were participated in this study. ANOVA(Scheffe test), t-test, regression and logistic regression were conducted. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Tap water was consumed by only 1.7%, boiled water prior to drinking by 37.9%, water filtered by 39.8% and bottled water by 19.0%. 2. Consumer attitude knowledge was affected by socio-demographic variables. That is, aesthetic satisfaction was affected by age, risk perception by gender and educational level, confidence by educational level, knowledge by gender and age, and problem experience by age. 3. Logistic regression analysis indicated that age, confidence and aesthetic satisfaction were the determinants of bottled water or filtered water choice. However, risk perception was not a significant determinant. This suggests alternatives to tap water is related to non-risk, or non-safety factors.

  • The present study aims to provide efficient regimen by means of the Oriental medicine tool to measure Yangseng developed to fit the situation of Korea. For this purpose, the elderly people aged older than 65 were selected and their level of Yangseng was compared and analyzed depending on their perception of health. From the study, following conclusions could be drawn: 1. The total subject of study were 763 consisting mostly of the illiterate and spoused with disease but without leisure activities. 2. Most of the subjects were found to have little confidence with their health. With regard to their level of Yangseng, higher points were rated in morality yangseng, followed by activities & rest, diet, mind yangseng, sleep, seasonal yangseng, exercise and sex life in order. 3. By socio-demographic characters for the group with confidence in health, there were more male than female, with spouse, disease and leisure activities currently. In the group without confidence in health, there were more female, without spouse and leisure activity but with disease presently. 4. As for the level of Yangseng in the group with confidence in health, higher points were recorded in morality yangseng, followed by activities & rest, mind yangseng, diet, sleep, exercise and sex life in order. In case of the group without confidence in health, higher points were recorded in morality yangseng, followed by activities & rest, diet, mind yangseng, sleep, exercise and sex life in order. From the above outcomes, it would be necessary to motivate the subjects to have a renewed concept for health and efficient regimen. Continued and repeated eforts should be made to fill the gap in the study using the tool to measure Yangseng of the elderly people.

  • This study investigated the differential interactive effects of the combination of driving confidence and sensation-seeking on driving anger among different age groups, by using correlation analysis, a hierarchical regression and ANOVAs for the data gathered through the questionnaires administrated in a form of face-to-face interview. The results showed the followings. First, males tended to show higher level in driving anger than females. Second, whereas sensation-seeking was positively correlated with driving anger, age and driving experience were negatively correlated with driving anger, respectively. Third, although there was no significant relationship between driving confidence and driving anger among the drivers aged under 40 years, the drivers aged over 40 years showed higher level of driving anger as their driving confidence increased. Forth, level of sensation-seeking was found to be a strong predictor of driving anger in all age groups. Fifth, driving confidence and sensation-seeking appeared to affect the level of driving anger interactively among drivers aged under 40 years or over 65 years, resulting in higher driving anger only when both the levels of driving confidence and sensation-seeking were high. In contrast, driving confidence and sensation-seeking affected driving anger independently among the drivers aged 30-49 years. Implication and suggestion were discussed.
